    Hello everyone,

So I haven't posted here in a very long time, but I wanted to provide an update on my 2015 Dodge Journey. I have a SXT, V6, FWD, Blacktop edition. I have owned it since 2015, brand new and I purchased from Military Auto Source. It's been operated in Missouri mostly with long trips to Alabama and Galveston, TX. We keep it in the garage at night. Here is a link to my original post which was after the 7K mile mark.

So it's been a little over 5 years since we've had the car. I've managed to put 120,000 miles on it due to living in the country and multiple trips to Kansas. Overall, I'm very happy with the car and I've only had minor issues. Those are:

    - The navigation is awful. We had it fixed under warranty which involved replacing the entire unit. It failed again, saying it did not have detailed maps. Pretty lame, but oh well.

    - This thing eats tires. I have the 19 inch wheels so maybe that has something to do with it. It also probably doesn't help that we do a lot of highway driving.

    - I had a hole in the wiper fluid hose. I fixed that with tape and it's held ever since.

    - A coyote committed suicide into the front passenger's side of the car. There is a minor droop on the bumper, but nothing too noticeable.

    - I had to replace the windshield due to a crack. That certainly wasn't the car's fault. I did think it wasn't put in right at first because it made a weird vibrating noise at high speeds, but that was because the rubber at the bottom of the windshield was vibrating.

That's it. That's all the problems we've had so far (knock on wood). The third row is not the best, but it'll do if you need extra space for kids. The gas mileage is ok and with gas prices the way they are now, it doesn't hurt to fill up. The V6 has great power, the transmission shifts fine, sunroof still works and doesn't leak. I like the storage but I don't really use the floor coolers very much.

Overall, great car and I'm glad we bought it. It works for my family of four.

    Hello all,
I posted a while back before I ever took ownership of the car looking for advice. I really appreciate all of the answers and help all of you gave. My wife picked up our 2015 Dodge Journey while I was stuck in Japan around the beginning of September. She had good things to say about it and I was happy we picked out a car she liked. We got it for around $26K from Military Auto Source. I arrived back in the states I finally got a chance to drive it. These are the options we ordered:
    FWD
    Blacktop Package
    V6 Engine
    Sun and Sound Package
    Navigation and Backup Camera
    Third Row Seating
My wife put around 2K miles on the car. We took it from Kansas to Alabama to Kentucky and then to Missouri. I averaged around 26 to 27 MPG on the highway which is pretty good I thought. We're getting around 21 to 22 around the city. The car drives very smooth on the highway. I think the engine is more powerful than it needs to be honestly. I don't know how many times I squealed the tires haha. We used the third row a couple times with family. I decided to ride in the third row for a two hour trip back from a brewery. I get where people say it's a great third row in a pinch. I was fine for the trip, but don't know if I could stand it for more than 6 hours.
Overall I am very satisfied with the car so far. I'd recommend it to anyone. If any of you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks again for the help.

Today is our two year anniversary with our Journey. Despite the fact that it's been hit three times (one of those was a major collision) the car continues to impress me and our family. The only defect was the radio, which in itself was not faulty but there was a problem with the navigation maps not loading (something which I've seen in a few other Chrysler radios and has been reported here by other Journey owners). Other than that, the car has been problem-free even after sustaining $11,000 worth of front-end damage. I'm still on original tires ( the front brakes were replaced after the accident but were not even close to worn) and the car is silent, smooth and vibration-free after 37,000-plus miles. 24 MPG average overall; we were averaging 27-28 MPG @ 70 MPH on our recent whirlwind college tour last month with all four of us in the car and our stuff. Here's a couple of pictures on day one at my dealership - two years ago today!

As of Wednesday, 5/20/2014, it has been one full year since I switched from my beloved 2007 Charger R/T with 29R Road & Track sport package to my 2014 Journey R/T AWD with Rallye appearance package. I took delivery with 2,086 miles as the second owner (first in-service date was 3/20/2014). It currently has about 12,850 miles. It has had one oil change and one tire rotation, and otherwise has not been back to the dealer (for the moment).
    My impression so far...
This has been an excellent vehicle. It has filled every single need I had that I bought it for and which my Charger had a very difficult time filling. I needed a wagon-type vehicle to drive my new retriever around in (he loves it, too), and I needed a vehicle with extra cargo volume to transport test samples between labs (I currently work as a validation engineer for a tier 1 supplier on interior components to most of the major automakers in the world, moving to product engineering in a week). The Journey does this flawlessly, while the Charger was only barely capable of doing it. I often had to drive with the rear seat folded down, which introduced a lot of exhaust drone, and I was constantly paranoid that my dogs hair and nails would destroy the suede backseat in spite of the seat cover I have. I hate having to make car payments for a longer length of time, but I like the lower cost of insurance.
Interestingly, my partner has a 2014 4-cyl FWD SXT Blacktop in Redline 2-coat Pearl, and we noticed my R/T handles the pockmarked roads around Detroit better than the B/T.
One of the things I've recently started noticing that makes me glad I went for the Journey instead of the Durango is how nimble the car is. Since it's based on a stretched Avenger platform, it doesn't lurch and lumber like a large SUV does. I can whip the thing through parking lots and not feel like it's losing control. I'm sure once I put 245 tires on it, I can drive it with as much confidence as I drive my 300M Special. I'm not sure if all Journey's act this way, as I do have the R/T with the sport-tuned suspension... whatever that amounts to on a car designed to be a people-mover.
To date, there has been only one issue. When the washer fluid ran out late last year, I poured in the usual RainX fluid that I have used on all of my Chrysler and Dodge vehicles for more than a decade. This is the first one that had a problem. The low fluid light has stayed on. Google tells me late model Dodge washer fluid sensors don't play nice with RainX, and Rams are able to overcome this by draining the RainX and using the standard blue solvent. Not so with the Journey. I ran my bottle out today for the second time since using the RainX and poured in the basic solvent... and the light is still on. So I'll be making an appointment soon to have the sensor replaced under warranty. No big deal, that's what warranty's are for.
The aforementioned Blacktop, however, was just in the shop for a week to have a wheel speed sensor replaced. That car has 7500 miles on it and already needed that sensor... it has also had intermittent issues with the screen on the 8.4A Uconnect. Very odd. I suppose those units are hit-n-miss, as mine has had no issues.
Am I going to keep it for the long haul? Short answer: No. Long answer: A 2015 Charger Road & Track in Jazz Blue with Mopar front splitter and Mopar rear valence is calling out to me something fierce... but then I'd be right back to square one with my dog. On the other hand, I'm keeping my eyes and ears out for the promised 2017 Journey-replacement SRT, and the re-engineered 2018 Grand Cherokee. Until those models arrive, I'm happy with my 2014 R/T!

The only things I will buy on time are cars and a house. Everything else, I pay cash. I only use 1 credit card and pay it off each month.
You have to figure in your finance rate, which is dependant on your credit score. Make sure that you closely watch the finance officer, because he will start adding things that you may not want. This is where the dealer makes money in kickbacks. When I purchased my DJ, the only option I added was my extended warranty. It is cheaper to do it this way than to wait until your factory warranty runs out. And, I didn't get the most expensive one and it kind of ticked him off. I wouldn't let him talk me into anything else. Paint protection, interior protection are a waste of money.

I can understand the frustration of someone who has legitimate concerns and is looking for support. The forum members have been very good at giving advice when posters are specific in those concerns. It's the posters who never explain what problems they have and only offer negative comments about a product or company who make it difficult to assess their legitimacy. A lot of times they only post a few times and we never hear from them again. Of course they get a lot of satisfaction when they disrupt the relationships between the forum members or get under somebody's skin. There are a lot of sections on this forum which answer any questions or offer the opportunity to address concerns if they are in fact legitimate without appearing to be trolling. jkeaton explained this in his first response and I agree with him. Trolls are the bane of many forums!

I was a fat a$$ who smoked two packs of cigs a day and ate at Mcdonalds at least twice a day, sat on my rear at night drinking beer and watching TV. I could not walk up a flight of stairs without breaking a sweat and losing my breath. My doctor gave me a choice one year during my annual physical, (2008 I believe it was), lose weight and get in shape, or go on medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, high colesterol, etc Said once I started on this medication, I would be on it forever. I opted for the other route cause I was sick and tired of being fat and tired........I started by walking every day, slowly adding a bit of jogging as the weight came off, quit smoking and started eating healthier. I lost almost 80 lbs, been smoke free for 7 years now and run at least 2.5 miles 4-5 times a week. I run 5k races once or twice a month. Just turned 51 last December, probably in the best cardio shape of my life. Still struggle with weight....manage to maintain with +/- 5-7 lbs, but man, it's like it takes me a month to lose 5 lbs and a weekend to gain it back....
Sometimes though, it's genetics. If high blood pressure runs in your family, maybe not much you can do about it.

Looky what showed up at my shop today!

The bodyshop brought her to me today, Not the most flattering photo, but it's all perfectly straight and the color matches just so. It has an ABS light on and the transmission needed to be properly filled and quick-learned. A couple of weeks ago I sent a tech to their shop to replace the solenoid pack while the car was still apart. Some loss of fluid occurs with that repair and the only way to properly check and fill it is with a dealer scan tool.
The ABS light is a wiring issue that we are currently repairing. Remember where the car was hit - part of the main wiring harness runs in that area. We found eight broken wires under the conduit which shows absolutely no damage on the outside. As we ohm-tested each of the wires in the harness, we pulled gently on them with the ohm-meter connected and they simply came right out from under the conduit. You would never know the harness was damaged by looking at it. Most of them have been repaired. He has about an hour or two left tomorrow and then I *should* be driving it. Keep your fingers crossed...

One of the bodyshop owners drove it back to my shop. He reported that it tracks straight and the wheel is centered. When they re-assembled it, the car needed very little adjustment. It was almost in spec without any alignment but the wheel was off a touch. This tells me that structurally, the car is intact and I shouldn't have to worry about premature tire wear. I can't wait to drive it again - it's been five and a half weeks!
Another bennie: About a year ago, my wife nicked a curb and put a small gouge in the left front wheel. I rotated it to the rear shortly afterward, and recently rotated it back. Well, the insurance adjuster saw that damage and assumed it was collision related, and so I also got a brand new wheel. That was the only imperfection on the car before the rear got hit...
...which, by the way, has also been repaired. The driver who hit the car two weeks before the front got smashed got her insurance involved and they repaired the rear fascia while it was there. So...cosmetically, it is back to new again. All that remains is that small paint imperfection from the factory in the lower left corner of the tailgate. At the rate I'm going, that will take care of itself the next time the car gets smashed...
I'll report back after I drive it...hopefully tomorrow! No new pictures for a while because the roads are horrible and there's more snow for Monday. Yay!!
