  1. Hello everyone, So I haven't posted here in a very long time, but I wanted to provide an update on my 2015 Dodge Journey. I have a SXT, V6, FWD, Blacktop edition. I have owned it since 2015, brand new and I purchased from Military Auto Source. It's been operated in Missouri mostly with long trips to Alabama and Galveston, TX. We keep it in the garage at night. Here is a link to my original post which was after the 7K mile mark. So it's been a little over 5 years since we've had the car. I've managed to put 120,000 miles on it due to living in the country and multiple trips to Kansas. Overall, I'm very happy with the car and I've only had minor issues. Those are: - The navigation is awful. We had it fixed under warranty which involved replacing the entire unit. It failed again, saying it did not have detailed maps. Pretty lame, but oh well. - This thing eats tires. I have the 19 inch wheels so maybe that has something to do with it. It also probably doesn't help that we do a lot of highway driving. - I had a hole in the wiper fluid hose. I fixed that with tape and it's held ever since. - A coyote committed suicide into the front passenger's side of the car. There is a minor droop on the bumper, but nothing too noticeable. - I had to replace the windshield due to a crack. That certainly wasn't the car's fault. I did think it wasn't put in right at first because it made a weird vibrating noise at high speeds, but that was because the rubber at the bottom of the windshield was vibrating. That's it. That's all the problems we've had so far (knock on wood). The third row is not the best, but it'll do if you need extra space for kids. The gas mileage is ok and with gas prices the way they are now, it doesn't hurt to fill up. The V6 has great power, the transmission shifts fine, sunroof still works and doesn't leak. I like the storage but I don't really use the floor coolers very much. Overall, great car and I'm glad we bought it. It works for my family of four.
  2. Yeah I really don't have city driving per say anymore. I don't hammer the gas pedal like I used to either.
  3. Granite I think was the name of the color. The picture might be a little dark since it was cloudy where we were that day. I completely agree with the plate. I left Kansas plates on our Fusion so I could keep the front open. I've had to use cruise a lot. I'm out in country Missouri now and haven't seen too many cops. Thanks for the appreciation. Thank you!
  4. 5'10". I did have the person in front pull the seat up quite a bit.
  5. Hello all, I posted a while back before I ever took ownership of the car looking for advice. I really appreciate all of the answers and help all of you gave. My wife picked up our 2015 Dodge Journey while I was stuck in Japan around the beginning of September. She had good things to say about it and I was happy we picked out a car she liked. We got it for around $26K from Military Auto Source. I arrived back in the states I finally got a chance to drive it. These are the options we ordered: FWD Blacktop Package V6 Engine Sun and Sound Package Navigation and Backup Camera Third Row Seating My wife put around 2K miles on the car. We took it from Kansas to Alabama to Kentucky and then to Missouri. I averaged around 26 to 27 MPG on the highway which is pretty good I thought. We're getting around 21 to 22 around the city. The car drives very smooth on the highway. I think the engine is more powerful than it needs to be honestly. I don't know how many times I squealed the tires haha. We used the third row a couple times with family. I decided to ride in the third row for a two hour trip back from a brewery. I get where people say it's a great third row in a pinch. I was fine for the trip, but don't know if I could stand it for more than 6 hours. Overall I am very satisfied with the car so far. I'd recommend it to anyone. If any of you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks again for the help. - Josh
  6. I'm glad to see this. I'll pick mine up in September and plan on taking it down to Alabama.
  7. I just did this sort of math last night. The cost of my Journey will be around $26K and I'll be putting $5K down. I was pre-approved for 1.49% at 36 months, 2.5% at 60 months, and 2.49% at 72 months. Obviously your payment will be lower for 72 months but you'll be paying more interest. If I remember right I was paying about $1650 in interest for the 72 month loan, $1400 in interest for the 60 month loan, and $500 in interest for the 36 month loan. I'm still deciding between the 60 and 72 month. The reason is I don't know completely how my life will be when I move back stateside in August. I can also make bigger payments once I get settled and pay it off faster.

Cruises are fantastic. I've been wanting to do one again for a while now. For what you get, it's a great value.

    Cold enough?

59 degrees F here in Okinawa. I'm really going to miss this weather.

Good deal. I am ready for mine here in a few weeks to Kobe, Osaka, and Kyoto.
  12. Sounds good. I won't have the car until August so there's still plenty of time. Thanks for the information.
  13. I think you're right bramfrank. Just to be clear, the warranties through the chryslerwarrantys.com site are official? I'm assuming so but just want to make sure. I haven't bought anything yet. I'm only putting money into an account for a down payment.
  14. Great thread. There's a warranty through the Exchange New Car Sales that is 7 year 75,000. I believe it is costing me around $2K. I might want to reconsider one of these lifetime warranties through the website. A $100 deductible is really nothing at the end of the day.
  15. So this vehicle appears to be pretty safe. I'm glad to hear your wife was ok. Hopefully you're good to go after this.
  16. I'm glad to hear you're ok and the car will hold up. My wife will be driving ours when we get it so this is great news.
  17. I'd like to know as well. It looks really good.
  18. Very informative and makes me feel no regrets for ordering mine. Seems like there are some pretty good people on this site.
  19. I'm a crew chief and currently work in Quality Assurance. I've worked on KC-135s at Grand Forks and McConnell. I've also worked RC-135s at RAF Mildenhall in England and now here at Kadena in Okinawa. Thanks to you as well.
  20. Awesome news. Yeah I think I am going to upgrade it to the V6 and also add the Blacktop package. It's a shame I won't see it until August. Update - I did upgrade to the V6 and the Blacktop package. I took off the Popular equipment package to make up for it.
  21. Thank you everyone. I appreciate it. The V6 was exactly what my gut was telling me after we left and I had a chance to do further research. I honestly never thought I would consider a Dodge but the first thing I said was, "Wow that thing looks sharp."
  22. Hello everyone, I recently ordered a 2015 Dodge Journey SXT for the wife. I am in the Air Force and live in Okinawa, Japan. I used the Exchange New Car Sales program. When pricing the car against the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Compass, and Ford Escape this seemed like a great deal. We have one child and plan on having another one late next year. We added a lot of options to the car such as sunroof, upgraded sound, navigation, rear back up camera, etc. I went with the 4 cylinder engine. I can change to the V6 as I don't leave here until August. If I recall correctly, the salesman said they usually place the order around June or July. My question to all of you is this. If you have the 4-cylinder engine and could pick the V6 engine (and vice versa), would you? I would stick with FWD and not AWD. I noticed the gas mileage does not seem too much better on the 4-cylinder. I wouldn't really need to haul anything with a trailer. This car will basically be a bigger car for the family. I apologize in advance if this is discussed somewhere else. I took a quick look around. I look forward to reading more about the Journey. Thank you in advance. Josh
