    Also, If you're not big into repairing vehicles, you may want to consider having a reputable shop do a full systems scan(and not just OBD11 engine/trans codes). This will give you stronger "footing" on how to proceed in finding the problem.

    your postings indicate happenings that stem from intermittent loss of electrical power OR ground. A few more specifics, such as engine size and AWD/FWD would be helpful.

    Definitely  have your battery load checked and also the alt ,local parts store will do this for free, journeys are bad to act crazy with a low battery charge also make sure the battery clamps are clean and tight.

    if you are having to add BRAKE fluid  every few months then you have a leak, just clean everything thing as good as you can and then when it leaks a bit you will know what area to examine for the leak, might need to have a qualified mechanic check it out since they have the proper tools and knowledge to troubleshoot the problem, good luck

    If it’s full of oil you could have an erg valve problem as well. Is engine going through oil.

    Scan for codes before buying parts.

    Looks like purge shuttle valve for evap circuit. Shouldn’t have oil in it, just vacuum.

    Unhook a hose or follow it to intake on engine should prove it out.

    No not really. Was it a used switch.? Could make up jumper wire  for plug and try it without hood switch.
    Could be a damaged wire, follow it in the harness. Some times doing work under the hood wiring can get damaged.

    Fred;

    The BT module is still separate from the radio (TGM).

    Alex;

    Do you have the handsfree buttons on your steering wheel?

    END OF THE SAGA!!!!!    IT'S FIXED  !!!!!!
      It was a bad radio/CD player module. Got hold of my friend and went and pulled same 4.3" screened CD player module  from a 6/11 model for my 1/11 DJ and tried it. Radio and all functions worked with just "plug and play" AND with shut down EVERYTHING turned off and STAYED OFF (until I turned things back on).

    For me NO PARTS COST just LOTS of my TIME checking and trying anything related to possible cause WITHOUT having wiring schematics.

    I'm NOT new to the Journey anymore as my new member introduction posting said!!!!!

    OKAY REAL PROGRESS!!!!!
       A NICE but "coolish" day today after night time SNOWFALL.  I can't explain why pulling the radio fuses did NOT help the problem. BUT I took the center stack components out and one by one disconnected the plugs to them. When I pulled the CD/radio box and unhooked it's sole wire modular connector, the start button and cluster lights SHUT OFF. Going to try getting ahold of my friend to try one from his 2 "parts cars". I may not be able to do anything until Monday, as it is the weekend and he needs at least SOME "family time".
        Stay tuned!

    Very weird problem. I wonder if it’s tied into cruise control some how, it’s wiring is in the steering column.

    Maybe pull fuse or relay for cruise control and see if horn still shuts car down.
    How many miles  on car, which engine ? Any stored codes, check even if mil light not on.

    Cars shutting off without notice can be CPS sensor. Doesn’t always store a code. A wear part and not expensive.
    At $200 for an  estimate,  you could try a few educated guesses first.

    If flush means against socket, new ones  aren’t expensive and give enough wire to splice into harness with. Avoid just taping connections if possible. It dries out and falls off.

    Wow throwing lots of parts in a vehicle that has been misdiagnosed that  is crazy that all or any of those parts don't solve the issue
    Was the new throttle the same as the old? Hence the different wire plug on the harness?

    I am looking to add CarPlay to my Cherokee. Looked at NUMEROUS sites, this one seems the easiest and least intrusive for the Jeep.  Just waiting for them to get more in..  Not even sure they support the DJ, but it’s worth a look.

    I would grab a few sheet metal screws and washers and secure it again. The heat shields are there for a reason.
    Wife’s Journey 3.6  heat guard started hanging down and rubbing on driveshaft, had to add fasteners last year.

    There have been grass fires from missing catalytic converter guards.  Carpeting and electrical is protected sometimes as well. They are really flimsy and not well secured.

    Get what replaced? The starter, tipm, the head restraint?  The entire car?  Electrical issues suck, I know.

    Your obviously frustrated, and I get it, but your ride is at least 11 years old.  Maybe you just bought it, but it’s still at least 11 years old.  My 09 I bought in 08 will be 13 years old in July.  I am lucky, have a lifetime extended warranty, which FCA is losing their a** on with all the repairs done under that. If I didn’t have the warranty it would have been gone long ago. Sometimes you just have to bit the bullet, take one up the butt and move on.
