  1. My 2000 Chrysler 300M permits the customer to program an additional Sentry (chip) key, as long as there are two keys present which are already programmed. This is no longer permissible with the current FOBIK system. As JKeaton pointed out, the vehicle must be connected to a scan tool (Dodge dealers use a system called WiTech) to program additional FOBIKs. You cannot disable a programmed FOBIK by following the procedure that you outlined in your post. Our dealership charges $36.00 to program a FOBIK and cut the door key. The procedure takes all of about 10-15 minutes to perform. Most places charge more.

    Howdy

Wow that looks nice! Welcome to the group.
  3. Re-checked just now - no code. At this point I'm not expecting it to come back. It seems to me that FCA has made LMK an option that must be added to the sales order prior to the vehicle being built.
  4. LMK is the only sales code that applies to the Journey (known internally as JC in Chryslerspeak) It has been unavailable to me to add for well over a year now, probably closer to two years. If you provide the last eight digits of your VIN to me I will be happy to double check. The Auto headlamp option has no bearing on DRL capability. Auto headlamps require a sales code all their own.
  5. Picked mine up four years ago today! Still loving it and no regrets. 73,000 miles later and it's nearly perfect still. Welcome to the forum and the Journey family! This is day day one in the driveway May 18, 2013:
  6. Thanks Steven. It turned out to be the perfect extra space that we needed. We wanted to move my oldest son home from school together as a family which meant keeping part of the middle seat up. If it were just myself I probably wouldn't have needed the carrier as we could have used the entire rear of the vehicle for cargo. We used the carrier for the soft stuff like clothing, soft suitcases, pillows and bedding - anything that could be squished and folded, basically. The bulky items went in the back. It was tight but it all fit, and the four of us made the trip together so for that reason alone it was worth it.
  7. Good point. Our college trip is only an hour of highway driving and the rest is rural, so it doesn't matter so much to us, but for longer drives I could see where it could be a factor.
  8. I should have photographed everything that I packed into it, but as I took everything out of the carrier, I just handed it off to a family member who then carried it into the house. There were two soft carry bags filled with clothes, a comforter, a couple of kitchen bags with clothes, a couple of pillows and some smaller miscellaneous items. Anything that I could compress without breaking went up there first. If you have soft luggage then it might be a viable option. We would not have been able to fit all our stuff without it. I borrowed a Town and Country minivan last summer to move him up there, which fit everything comfortably. I calculated that we'd have enough room in the Journey with the addition of the roof carrier, and it proved to be just enough. With six passengers, you'll need part of your third row seat as well, which seriously eats into your cargo space. The roof carrier might not be enough.
  9. Tempted to put at least one of my kids up there sometimes...lol! It doesn't look like much in the photo, but the carrier makes a big difference when hauling the kinds of stuff that a kid takes to school. By loading up the coffin with soft, compressible items like clothing, pillows, travel bags and all, that frees up the tailgate for the bulky items like the fridge and TV. We were able to fit everything in the car and still have room for the four of us. The Journey continues to prove immensely versatile and remains a perfect fit for our family.
  10. From the album: Journeyman's 2013 Copper Pearl Crew

To help with the move to and from college, I bought the Mopar by Thule Carrier and Mopar Cross Bars.
  11. Purchased the Mopar Cross Bars and a Mopar by Thule Roof Carrier to move my oldest son home from college!
  12. It is not permissible beyond 15 miles and 25 MPH maximum speed. Flat towing the vehicle will overheat the transmission fluid and burn up the transmission's clutches beyond these criteria. A FWD Journey may be towed short distances with a dolly to lift the front wheels. AWD Journeys must be flat-bedded or trailered with all wheels off the ground.
  13. Sure looks good! I remember when you got it! I did the same thing today - waxed and detailed my Journey. I was going to park it in the same spot that I first photographed it nearly four years ago ands see if anyone can tell the difference!
  14. If you supply me with your VIN I might be able to tell you, but our system primarily identifies North American-market vehicles. In the US, there was virtually no difference between 2009 and 2010 model year except for exterior color choices. Mechanically they were identical. It did not change here until 2011.

    Top speed

I've seen those insane speeds logged on my own navigation memory recall screen, and I can tell you unequivocally that neither my wife or I have ever had the car north of 80MPH. I think I have gotten close a couple of times when overtaking a large truck just to get out of the left lane and back out of the way of the faster cars behind me, but my triple digit days ended with the demise of my dearly beloved Mazda 323 GT...and of my youth!
  16. I could care less what CR says. They've always hated most domestics, Chrysler products in particular. 72,000 miles later, our 2013 Journey remains completely reliable, even after major collision damage. We've only had to replace the radio under warranty due to a corrupted navigation map. The radio worked perfectly otherwise. The engine is strong and reliable, the transmission shifts normally, every feature works and the car has never failed to run any other way but completely normal. Fuel economy averages 22-24 MPG with our highway road trips always netting at least 28. 3.6 V6 w/FWD. The ride is quiet, controlled and comfortable, and the fit and finish have held up just fine. And while we're at it, my own daily driver is a 17 year old Chrysler 300M with 312,000 miles. I'm the original owner. The car has never seen a tow truck, and every single feature right down the smallest light bulb still works. The staff at CR can call me anytime.
  17. The state in which the vehicle was sold is disclosed on the Vehicle Information Plus report that all dealers use to determine all information about a particular FCA vehicle. I run a VIP every time a member here requests a sales code addition to make sure that it has not been already added. But the New Vehicle Warranty on U.S. retail sale vehicles is valid in all 50 States regardless of the state it was sold in.
  18. I rechecked this evening as per your request, but sales code LMK is still absent from my list of available sales codes to add. I have a feeling that it will not be back...it's gone much longer this time around than the last time it was removed. There is no such thing as voiding a warranty due to the addition of a sales code. Your warranty cannot be legally voided for this reason. From the Warranty Policy Manual: FCA US will restrict all or part of a vehicle's eligibility for warranty service when we believe that the vehicle has been so extensively damaged or modified that it cannot be repaired to conform to our manufacturing standards. These vehicles when sold at auction or through FCA US, will have a disclosure statement indicating the warranty has been restricted and the condition, which caused the restriction. We will also restrict all or part of a vehicle's eligibility for warranty service when we discover that the vehicle has a salvage title or was an insurance company write-off, based on vehicle registration information received from approved other sources. We may also restrict the warranty on a vehicle that is not manufactured for the country in which it is sold, or which is exported in violation of FCA US policy. We may also restrict repairs on certain components i.e. engine/transmission, etc.
  19. 68080977AC supersedes to 68080976AC which is valid from 2011 to 2017 model year applications. I cannot see why a 7 pin wire is the correct application since the vehicle is rated to tow 2500 lb maximum and would not require a 7 way round connector which is used for higher capacity brake systems found on trailers whose weight exceed the vehicle's towing capacity. When you say failed - was there no power at all at the end of the four way plug which attaches to the trailer?
  20. Trailer Tow Group code AHT has been added to your VIN.
  21. No feathers ruffled here. This forum is where you go to ask questions and get answers. We're here to help! This is copied from my Warranty Administration manual: "Vehicles with a Restricted Warranty Guidelines Published 01/10/2011 04:44 PM | Updated 03/26/2015 03:07 PM | Answer ID 1867 What does it mean when a customers Basic Limited Warranty is restricted? FCA US will restrict all or part of a vehicle's eligibility for warranty service when we believe that the vehicle has been so extensively damaged or modified that it cannot be repaired to conform to our manufacturing standards. YOU WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED for any repairs performed on a restricted vehicle or component when the repairs made were within the scope of the restriction. CHRYSLER WILL REIMBURSE you to perform any open safety recall campaigns and to replace an emission component on a restricted vehicle, provided the cause of the failure IS DUE TO A DEFECT IN MATERIAL, WORKMANSHIP, OR FACTORY PREPARATION THAT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO FAIL TO COMPLY WITH EMISSIONS STANDARDS." My interpretation of this is that a recall claim will still be paid to a dealer despite a complete warranty restriction. Just to clarify, I made a specific inquiry about the one outstanding recall - R61- which is open on the Journey that you wish to purchase. When I receive a response, I will confirm that this information is correct. There are two ways you can proceed with this outstanding recall: 1) Contact FCA once you have taken delivery of the car, and contact the recall department and have them put you in touch with a local dealer to schedule the recall work. This is usually done in a three way call between FCA, yourself and the dealer they contact. With you on the phone, they will confirm that a dealer will accept the work and schedule your appointment. 2) If the ABS light is not illuminated, simply drive the car. The recall involves sealing an eyelet ground connection which has the potential to wick moisture into the wiring and subsequently into the ABS module which could cause it to malfunction. This may never happen. If it does and the cause is due to the condition outlined in the recall, then have the recall done. They never expire and remain in force as long as the car is on the road regardless of time and mileage. Whether a dealer will service your car due to the warranty restriction is their discretion. It shouldn't matter since you, the customer are responsible for any and all charges. We don't turn away vehicles due to a warranty restriction, but that is our policy and it may differ from dealer to dealer.
  22. I checked the VIN that you supplied - this is a 2013 Journey Crew, White, front wheel drive. If you haven't already, please check Carfax - this VIN has a warranty restriction from the factory, which tells me that at some point it was declared a total loss. It does not have DRL enabled. I will explain further about the sales code when I have a chance. Just wanted to get this out to you before I get busy for the day.
  23. More than likely a wheel speed sensor causing the ABS and TRACS lights to illuminate, but not the low tire light, Wheel speed sensors usually run about $200.00 installed. The only sure way to know is to get it to your dealer for diagnosis.
  24. That is the correct area. The code is no longer there for dealers to add. Just to be sure, I double checked just now on the DealerConnect page. At one point FCA re-instated the LMK code for us to add, and then removed it again. I keep checking periodically to see if it comes back. If it does, I will update you all.
