  1. We love ours - 2013 Crew with all options except DVD. Our kids are 13 and 17 and we're never wanting for more space. Exceptional ride and handling, quiet, powerful and economical - 24 MPG combined average most of the year, drops a few when it's really cold. I would buy another one tomorrow if I had to. 50,000 miles, only defect was the radio (common). Survived a major accident with no injuries to my wife and the car still drives perfectly.

  3. Fooled me too, JK ...thought you were on the side of the road somewhere. Then again, you drive a Journey! I went ahead and bought four new 225/55/19 Kumho Solus KH16's today as well. We had a tire deal going with Mopar TireWorks where you buy three at the regular price and the fourth is $1.00. My cost on these tires is $168.50, so I saved $167.50 on the set with this deal. I was tempted to go up to 235/55/19 and put on Michelin Pilot HX's which I've had on my 300M in 225/55/17 but they're a lot more expensive. The Kumhos are every bit as good overall as the Michelin except in the snow, where the Pilots are outstanding. The Kumhos tend to spin on acceleration rather than bite. But I don't usually have enough snow here to warrant the extra cost. And at 50,000 miles, there is still good tread left on these Kumho's. I'll keep them on for a few more weeks and when the weather really worsens, then I'll change them.

  5. The sound you hear is the spray of water off of the tires onto the plastic rocker panels that run under the doors between the front and rear wheels. The rocker panels run into the interior under the doors and tend to amplify the sound of the spray as it hits the outside of the panel. The sound is much louder in our Journey than it is in our 300M, and like you, it startled me the first time I heard it but I quickly grew accustomed to it. It's normal.
  6. Did they even attempt to reconfigure your Journey? The sales code is indeed there. No reason why they shouldn't work.
  7. Yes - a Vehicle Restoration is all that is needed now. It takes about 15 minutes to do it. Once that's done, you can toggle the feature on and off on your radio screen. Remember that the DRL do not work unless the transmission is in gear. They go out when you shift into Park.
  8. Priell3 - added your sales code. Johnnyh - code LMK is not available for me to add on 2016 models. I have a customer with a 2016 Ram 1500 that wants DRL and I can't do it for him either because code LMK is not present in the 2016 code menu. Called four different departments at Chrysler...no answers yet. This happened in 2014 also and it mysteriously came back. I'll try for you again periodically.

  11. Clear the drains in the doors - usually compressed air or a good strong shop vac in the drain holes with get the restriction out.

Regardless of the customer preference setting for the horn, if the car detects a FOBIK inside the vehicle after depressing the inside door lock switch as the manual states, the horn will still chirp three times to alert you to the FOBIK inside the car. Or not, in this case. Sounds to me like a faulty antenna (there are four) or the RF Hub itself. I did actually have this happen to me once a couple of months ago. Both FOBIKS were in our camper about 30' away. I locked the door using the inside driver door switch and walked away. A few seconds later, the horn chirped three times and the doors unlocked. I re-locked the car and it stayed locked and has never happened since. There may have been a phone or two inside the car, charging (we were on our camping trip; normally the phones are not left in the car) I wonder if one of them broadcast a signal which mimics that of the FOBIK itself. That is the only time it ever happened. I checked for new STAR cases tonight, but there are none. I have not had any customers complain of this problem with any other Chrysler vehicle which uses Keyless Enter -N- Go.
  14. It truly does come down to one's own personal tastes, as B4ZINGA points out. He and I both own a Journey and a 300M. When I ordered my 300M new in 2000, I purposely skipped the chrome Razorstar wheel option and instead chose the standard painted Razorstar wheel because, at the time, chrome wheels were all the rage on everybody's clapped-out Chevy Cavaliers, Ford Escorts and other similar vehicles in that genre that were otherwise falling apart and rusting but had nice, shiny chromes that were worth more than the car. However, the look of those beautiful chrome 300M wheels began to woo me after a couple of years, and in 2005 I upgraded them. But that car would indeed look awful with chrome door handles and other ersatz chrome trim. There is a narrow band of chrome around the grille which is otherwise a matte gray, and with the exception of the Chrysler wing badge, that's it. Yet on the Journey, the chrome door handles are just enough to break up the huge swath of sheetmetal that makes up the sides of the car. and they pick up the wheels nicely. I usually love the monochromatic look but on the Journey, not as much. And in my hometown, we have the only Copper Pearl Journey so we never see ourselves coming and going. That could very well be because everyone else hates the color!

  17. I own a 2013 FWD Crew. The primary differences between the Crew and the R/T lie in trim. The Crew is geared more toward luxury and the R/T has a sportier flare. Mechanically, the only difference between them is the R/T is equipped with the firmest suspension tuning available regardless of whether it is FWD or AWD. A Crew comes standard with Touring Suspension (softer) in FWD trim, and if it has AWD then it comes with Performance Suspension (a bit firmer than Touring but more compliant than R/T) Feature-wise, they are both loaded. The Crew (or Limited as of 2014) comes with chrome trimmed door handles, grille and roof rails where the R/T is monochromatic and features more black trim. Chrome wheels were not available on 2013 R/T models. The R/T features unique red seat stitching. As much as I love sportiness in my vehicles, I opted for the Crew since I preferred a little chrome on the Journey and I like chrome wheels - I think the chrome trim suits it well and is not ostentatious. The Journey has inherent sportiness built into its character, and even with the softer Touring suspension it rides firmly enough and does not wallow over bumps or in turns, yet is very comfortable on road trips. We have 44,000 miles and love the car. The only defect was with the navigation maps which became corrupted and necessitated replacement of the radio to correct. Otherwise, it has been perfect. My wife was in a major collision eight months ago and was uninjured and the car continues to perform flawlessly even after being repaired.
  18. The common denominator here is the coolant temperature. The engine oil cooler uses engine coolant to transfer heat from the oil to the cooling system. The transmission oil cooler is located in front of the radiator in the A/C condenser. If the coolant temperature is too high, it directly affects the temperature of the transmission and engine oils. We recently took a camping trip with my 2013 Journey with 42,000 miles.Our pop-up camper weighs 1200 lb. dry. We had all of our gear, two bikes, and four people in the car so we were well-loaded. Towing 65 MPH in 90 degree temps with the A/C on, the coolant temp never went over 210 degrees, the tranny stayed under 190 and honestly I don't remember the engine oil temp but it was not high at all. Your cooling system appears to have a restriction, or is airbound, or has a circulation issue. Has any work been done to the car, either mechanically or any collison repair work? Mine was in a major accident late last year and I was curious to see how it would perform after having the radiator, A/C condenser, transmission cooler and all associated hoses and lines replaced. Normal. Have yours checked out when you can.
  19. A couple of times per month we have an extra teammate or two to drive home, so the third seat is unearthed and everyone piles in. There always seems to be enough room for everyone.
