  1. Your Journey uses something called an Intelligent Battery Sensor which helps control the charging system. It is located on the negative battery cable terminal end. After it is disconnected and reconnected, it goes through a recalibration procedure. This is from the service manual: OPERATION The Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) contains a low value resistor, or shunt. The shunt creates voltage drop, which is read by an internal microcontroller to determine the current flow in and out of the battery. In addition to the shunt, the IBS contains a sensor to monitor the battery’s temperature. Data gathered by the IBS, including temperature, voltage, and current measurements, are transmitted over a LIN communication bus to either the Body Control Module (BCM) or the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), depending on the application. The IBS serves two primary purposes. The first is to provide the Powertrain Control Module (or PCM) with both immediate and historical battery information, so the PCM can precisely control the charging system. The second purpose is to provide data to the BCM for operation of the load-shedding feature. A fused power circuit and the LIN bus are connected to the IBS though a two-terminal connector. In addition to real-time measurements, the IBS transmits some calculated battery data over the LIN bus, including state of charge, state of health, and state of function. These values are calculated by storing measurements over time. The battery sensor is readable/diagnosable via a “scan tool” that can display all of the available parameters needed for vehicle servicing or trouble shooting. Information the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) transmits out on the CAN Bus is SOC = Battery state of charge (or SOC) is expressed as a percentage. The IBS calculates the SOC based on measured voltage, and charge and discharge rates. Therefore, SOC is not a direct percentage of battery voltage. SOF = Battery State of Function: Battery state of function (or SOF) is a calculated prediction of the lowest voltage the battery will drop to during engine cranking. The PCM and BCM use this calculated information to optimize vehicle power management for increased fuel efficiency. The data transmitted from IBS is interpreted and sent over the CAN network by the module connected the IBS’s LIN bus. When the IBS is powered up for the first time or is powered after a power disconnection, it enters a “recalibration” phase, where the IBS must recognize the type of battery and its characteristics and state. In this phase the tolerances on the state functions (SOC, SOF) are greater than in normal working condition. When IBS is disconnected from the battery, the device loses its stored memory. When power is restored, the IBS starts a relearn process. Until the relearn process is complete, accurate battery state information is unavailable to other vehicle systems. The IBS relearn process requires five normal, operator initiated starts with at least four hours normal or more during cold ambient conditions of engine off time between each start. Usually, the process takes a few days of vehicle operation to complete. Remember, the relearn process is restarted every time power is reconnected to the IBS. If the IBS is faulty it cannot be serviced, it must be replaced.
  2. We see water draining from 3.6 Grand Cherokees at my shop as well, but the exhaust is routed differently and drains elsewhere besides the rear mufflers. Nothing to worry about at all with yours. As long as the engine light is out, then the engine is performing within specs and emissions levels are where they should be.
  3. How many miles on your 3.5? If you have P0203 and P0303, that indicates fuel injector control circuit and cylinder misfire #3. Service Manual possible causes for P0203 are as follows: Possible Causes FUEL INJECTOR 3 CONNECTOR OR WIRING (F342) FUSED ASD RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT (K13) INJECTOR 3 CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE (K13) INJECTOR 3 CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND EXCESSIVE RESISTANCE IN THE (K13) INJECTOR 3 CONTROL CIRCUIT FUEL INJECTOR 3 POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) You can swap two of the injectors side-by-side and see if the problem follows the injector. If so, replace it and the associated spark plug. If the misfire remains on #3 fhen follow the diagnostics as outlined above.
  4. Our 2013 Journey Crew has been very reliable for us. Like many others, we had to have the radio replaced. The unit functioned perfectly fine other than a corrupted navigation map which required the replacement of the radio to correct. We have 67,000 miles on the car and that is really the only problem we've had with it. No warning lights, no ominous noises, and it runs smooth and straight. It is worth noting that this car was in a major collision at 30,000 miles which required the nose of the car to be replaced and some welding of the driver's side frame rail (yes it's unit body but it's the structural component to which the engine and some of the suspension it bolted to). Even with that kind of damage, the car came back to us in perfectly good working order, and we've more than doubled the mileage on it since that work was done with no issues. I am a dealer service manager, and I still purchased a Mopar Maximum Care lifetime service contract despite the fact that I receive discounted parts as a dealer employee. Some of these components are very expensive as was mentioned in an earlier thread - like the aforementioned radio - and you can recover the cost of your contract in as little as one major repair. Plus, if anything should happen to me, all my wife has to do is pay a $100.00 deductible on any covered repair (and Maximum Care excludes very few items) for as long as she owns the car. We've had very good experiences with our Chryslers. My daily driver is a 2000 300M with 309,800 miles, my 18 year old son drives a 1999 300M with 142,000 miles. Both run perfectly with no warning lights or odd noises. The Journey has been fine so far as I said. You do NOT have to purchase your service contract from your selling dealer. You are free to shop around as bramfrank suggested. Your dealer told you what they did in an attempt to keep your business in-house. A Mopar Vehicle Protection Plan is good at ANY FCA dealership.
  5. My 2013 FWD Journey fuel gauge will read differently depending on where I fuel up. The local filling station is on a hill. The pumps are not quite on level ground. If I fill up with the nose pointed downhill, the gauge will read under the full mark even after moving the car to level ground and cycling the key. If the nose is pointing up, the gauge will read past full. If the car is level ( different station), the needle will just make it to the full mark but not go past.
  6. I am a dealer service manager. I've had this conversation with several people at FCA as to why the vehicle shows the feature in the radio screen, allows it to be seemingly toggled on and off, yet the car may or may not have them. No one has been able to give me a factual answer. If you read through this thread from the beginning, you will see that I have had some success adding the proper sales code which allows the DRL to be activated once the vehicle is reconfigured at the dealership. Over the last few years, the sales code has been removed from the dealer website (DealerConnect) by FCA, put back, and removed again with no explanation. I monitor it periodically and will announce its return in this thread should that ever happen.
  7. You may have a low key fob battery that prevents the vehicle from immediately recognizing that the fob has returned to the passenger compartment. Switch FOBIKS and see if the problem disappears. If so, then replace the battery in your original FOBIK, preferably in both. If not, you may have a faulty antenna which is not detecting the FOBIKS' movement.
  8. What a beautiful car, Ray. All the best! See you again in about two years??
  9. You may know this already, Ray - but according to my tracking info, it's at your dealership as of Tuesday.
  10. In Memphis as of the 19th. Due to Nashville on the 2nd. ETA to your dealer still 10/27. You're getting close!
  11. Left Toluca on railcar yesterday @ 10:26 AM. ETA to Landers McLarty 10/27/16. Stay tuned!
  12. Welcome to the Forum, David. We love our 2013 Crew. Bought it new and never looked back. 65,000 miles and it is rock-solid dependable, everything works as it should.
  13. As far as I can see, your Journey has not left the rail yard yet, but is due in to your dealer by the 29th of this month. No vacation for me...I've got a kid in college $$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!
  14. Ray - Your Journey has been built! Production status is "I", which means built and final inspection pending. No shipping ETA yet. I'll keep you posted.
  15. Haven't been able to get on the Vehicle Ordering and Inventory Management (VOIM) site all day - I'll try again tomorrow. The tab is grayed out when I try to select it. DealerConnect is undergoing some changes and a few features aren't currently working. I think that's one of them. Can't read my CSI scores either but I knew about that - that tab is down until 10/3.
  16. Ray - my theory was correct. Now that your order is in D1 status, it shows up now on VIN Track. 17. Dave - I'm not on here as much as I used to be, and just saw that you traded your DJ for a Cherokee. Nice looking ride indeed! We sold one Trailhawk in that color and it looks really cool. Enjoy it in good health!
  18. "D" status means your Journey's production sequence is now in a firm schedule stage, and the serial number is assigned. Your order started in BA status which is an unscheduled new order, then BX where it passes edit, then C when it its tentatively scheduled. You went to D pretty quickly, probably because dealers nationwide are ordering stock for the 2017 model year at the same time you placed your order, so there are likely duplicate orders to be produced and shipped all around the country and in Canada. Next is D1 where they sequence it for production. My personal estimate is that you'll probably see it at your dealership in about five weeks from now, barring any natural or man-made anomalies... Still doesn't show on my VIN Track site at FCA. I played around with VIN Track and I think it doesn't report on anything with less than a D1 status. Basically until it reaches D1, it's just paperwork and data transfer/sharing, so tracking is only really useful to administrative personnel at this point. Every VON I have run with D1 and up displays results on the VIN Track page, whereas D or below does not. I think that's it. So...I will let you know when information begins to appear for me.
  19. Good to hear from you too, Ray. I re-checked your VON tonight but it still does not show up on VINtrack. I'll let you know when I see results.
