    What he said ?

In addition, go back to that mechanic and tell him to stop guessing at what it might be and to really figure out the problem (there are ways to test the system). You can get guesses from a forum... for free.

I wanted to share a problem and solution that I recently had on my 2011 with the 6-speed 62TE transmission in case anyone experiences a similar issue.

Driving around town I had no problems and the Journey drove fine, but after driving at least 10-15 minutes at highway speed then stopping the car would often surge while stopping and either idle rough while stopped or stall altogether.  Restart the engine in park, select drive, and the car would often stall again.  Restart in park, rev the engine a few times, then select drive and the engine would remain running.  No error codes.

The issue was that after 10-15 minutes of highway driving the torque converter would remain partially or fully locked.

I changed the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid and so far the problem as not occurred again.  In my case, I was not able to obtain the Mopar part in a reasonable amount of time, so I used the Dorman 926-378.  Upon comparing the Dorman to the Mopar OEM part, they appear exactly the same.  They must both be manufactured by the same supplier.

Did you change the battery yourself because this didn't end up being an insurance claim? Are you not fixing the fender? Was it a hit and run? I'm confused ?

Well, I am one of the lucky ones that had their transmission go out on them while still under warranty in 2019. New tranny installed and coolant flushed at that time. I believe i was in the 40k range at that time, so I am good there. Plugs are on my mind probably because I'm old school. Like I said, car is running great just not used to not doing plugs regularly.

    I appreciate the advise.

A little early for the plugs, you will get codes if they are malfunctioning. At a 100k miles I only had 10 thou of wear on electrodes.
Was-doing oil cooler replacement so plugs changed too.   Fluids more important, pricier repair if a break down. Upstream O2 does fuel trim rich/lean,  it’s even early for that, but gas is expensive and that might improve fuel economy slightly, plugs wouldn’t.  My 2 cents.

well 6 yrs of heat and miles might take their toll on the plugs wouldn't hurt to do it then you will be set for another 6 yrs you might as well do the coolant change as well as the the transmission service as well, thats what i did at around 95 k last yr i let the dealership do it since i have the max warranty , but its on record if i should have any problems down the line, and yep kind of pricey at the dealership but oh well you cant take it with you........P.S. actually had the trans done at 60 k and then redone again at the 95 K   first time it was around 150 the second time was higher i think it was around 215

@5rebel9... answer is "NO", to your son.

Some background... father of 4 grown adult kids, 3 drivers, numerous cars passed on to my kids and now about half a dozen cars bought by the kids (a couple financed by your truly). Every conversation we have had about cars has started with, "this is a luxury and my only care is that it's dependable and safe". Other than some help with the down payment, they pay their car payment, gas, and insurance (discounted through our policy). Thankfully they have listened to my advise (on the cars at least), but I hold strong when it comes to any part of the cost depending on me - as being their normal mechanic either doing the work or paying for some of it sometimes.

I feel what your going through and am here to support you.

other than slow your azz down..LOL ..well you could try slotted or drilled rotors but ive read pros and cons on weather they really are that much better, you could also  buy heavy  duty pads or performance pads but they are a lot higher priced and they also have their down sides as well...good luck on what ever you decide and report back on what you get

When does all this stuff typically start, anyway?
My wife's dad was one to trade cars every few years, so she says something about it being time to get a different one every once in a while.  But I'm dragging my feet because she wants one from over the ocean next time, and I like to buy American.  [I'll admit, however, that I was taken aback when, just as I was signing for this one (back in 2010), I saw that it was not manufactured in the States.  But I don't hesitate to say that it's been a great vehicle for us.] (I come from a family where we drove them till they wouldn't go anymore, then put them in the back pasture, like an old horse going onto retirement.)

I would recommend a DJ, at least a 3.6 for sure.
So here is what you do... if you are getting a good deal and they have 40 units on the lot, you negotiate a lifetime warranty with the purchase. This should give you peace of mind and at the price you mention, it's still a good deal.
    Go get'em!!!

Well, my journey with my Journey 'payments' comes to an end. Today I made my final payment on my DJ, and it felt great. From not knowing these vehicles whatsoever, to spotting one while shopping for a car 5 years ago, it's been a great decision overall. We're just a touch over 70k and the DJ has been great for the family. Moving away from a minivan and still having the third row option at this price point was a big reason I went with this car. Five years later the kids (4) are almost all driving their own cars and not joining us in our long trips as much. The last time I used that third row was over a year ago, but I still see all the kids in the rearview mirror every once in a while.

Anyway, other than a warranty trannie issue this thing has been great. Regular maintenance and tires have been the only expense and it is still running strong. I ponder getting another car (Jeep, Durango, or Colorado) every once in a while, but I still enjoy driving my DJ. I've enjoyed this forum and can't believe I've been on here for 5 years.

Here's to another 5 years - with no issues!!!

From experience, if your horn is out it is probably your clock spring. You can test your horn by connecting a wire to the positive wire and touching your positive tower on the battery. If it beeps, then it's not a fuse or wiring - it's your clock spring. If it doesn't beep, then the challenge begins... start checking wires. Replacing your clock spring is not hard, just time consuming and you need special tools to remove the steering wheel. Tools can be rented.

I can honestly say I have never seen this before.  Not many people putting winches of a DJ. Not like it’s an off road vehicle, like a Jeep.  The only setup I could think of is, as you stated, using your trailer hitch.  That would be if you wanted to drag something (tree limbs, bushes, etc).

What do you plan on doing with your winch?

i also will point out that the warranty price from dealers that sell you the journey will be a lot higher than the one i showed you, the dealers have a mark up of almost 50 % so be careful and also only settle for a mopar warranty and not a third party warranty as well...that said also be warned that this is the last yr for the journey so even tho they have to supply parts for a certain amount of yrs (7 yrs i believe) sometimes  getting them parts can be a bitch, i once had a caravan that the seat fabric got ripped by their mechanic and they had to order the seat fabric cover thur mopar took about a month and then when he installed it he put a longer screw in a certain area where it didnt belong and it ripped the seat again so they reordered it again and they were never able to get it , i finally gave up on checking on it. so be warned as well.
