We are close , I live 30 minutes away from Windsor / Detroit crossings, getting colder now, get it done sooner than later. I used a manual syphon too and the temperature may affect tube flexibility. I used empty washer fluid jug to store and mark how much fluid I removed,  refilled jug to line with new fluid , same amount removed and replaced. This is the gasket material I used after cleaning old gasket materials from both faces, try to get an even coat all the way around. Make sure you hear and feel the new plastic filter snap when pushing it back into place, ensuring it is seated correctly. Easy job just takes some time next weekend looks good for doing this work. Good Luck

    Dodgeawrench,

It may have cost me $120 to do myself for the filter, gasket material and 11 litres of fluid in total. Things being cheaper in USA maybe $80 for you... LOL. If I remember the pan held about 5-Litres and I syphoned out 3 L weekly / twice from the "dealer only" tube and back in the same way, until the fluid was a bright redish -pink again overall. So yes it is thrifty to do it yourself if you do not mind the time doing is in steps.

Not a bad deal considering a lot of times they don't get put back on, or are rusting away.  Someone who needs them will get a good deal.

If a bearing, turn you wheel when driving left then right, if humming stops one way or the other; the opposite side bearing is the issue.

Just curious, how do you know the fluid level is fine ?  Unless you made a dipstick and previously marked the proper level using the "technician only" tube. ?  Other than that method transmission fluid level is not measurable to the eye.( on my 2012 anyway ).

Test the sun roof drains with a garden hose and a controlled flow rate. Should drain behind one of the front tire(s) my 2012 has similar lighter coloured marks at top of both A posts from a plugged sunroof drain. I think that is not the cause way at the back of the DJ ? I also noticed the rubber deflector strip coming off of top rear body panel, under my rear hatch upper area runs parallel to the roof line. It looks like it is supposed to deflect any water entering the seem to the sides of the body / rear hatch door. Mine did not leak but I caught it before it completely came loose and attached again using gorilla glue. Just a thought if other suggestions dont work.

Fix it or dump it and quit complaining about a used car that you aren’t properly maintaining (I drive around with oil because the oil cooler leaks, rather then fix it)

Use what ever is the best deal at that time what ever colour or brand.....colour changes as fluids are mixed.. But then again I never let the washer fluid get to that point of low level warning !

probak118 got a reaction from 2late4u in How to check ATF fluid ?
Sorry for resurrecting this post ( funny I said that on Easter Sunday ).  Being that we are on house arrest at this time for the safety of us all I decided to try 2late4u's idea since changing my trans filter only allowed for 5 litres of fluid drain. I purchased a princess auto oil / fuel pump for $13 and changed 3.5 L thru the "dealer only servicing" tube / filter pan before sucking air. I'll wait a couple weeks and change another 3.5 L with new fluid, should have almost a complete change over then after a total of 12 L drain and fills. Thanks for the idea.

if any one really is worried about the condition of the trans oil but doesn't want to pay to have it serviced, just go too harbor freight or any parts store and buy you a oil pump (less than $10)then buy the required transmission oil and insert the hose down thur the dipstick tube for the trans and pump out one quart of oil and then replace with the new fluid, do this every oil change and it wont break the bank and is simple and takes less than 5 minutes, sure you are mixing new with old but at least you will be removing and adding new trans fluid i did this on my daughters caravan yrs ago as it had to many miles to do a complete trans service, as they say  it might start slipping,, never had any problems with her trans and she used it on a mail route.

Take whatever you had to remove to change the plugs again. Maybe you will see if you disconnected some wire and it is just lying there ?

Thought mine would not slide to adjust either, then neighbour said you need to pull hard on both lever and the seat. Maybe because the rear seats are not moved much, not as easy as the fronts ?

Recall work done some years ago on my 2012, not an issue prior to the recall and never an issue since. How is it that you are constantly having an issue ? There must be some other contributing factor. Being in the western provinces you have far colder winter for longer continuous periods, was that not the issue in this recall cold weather conditions ? How high of pressure rated hose can you go with while maintaining proper ID and OD ?
