So I have bought this 2013 Dodge Journey and it has the 8.4 uconnect touch screensaver the radio now my problem is that the radio freeze if I click any random thing, it has the potential to freeze, so does anyone face The same issue I tried to take it to my dealership to get fixed they told me to go to a dodge dealership and the dodge dealership said that they can’t fix it without physical seeing the problem, they also said it could cost over 2 thousand dollars,  but the problem could literally stop happening if I shut off the car and turn it back on but it’ll start back on  any solution? I thought about getting a after market radio but I didn’t know if it would work because if the climate controls on the screen!

Your DJ may need a new radio unit.  You may be able to get one from a salvage yard or on the internet.  I believe that 2late4u may have one for sale.  Easy swap from what I understand.

Good Luck.

Peace.

no it wasn't me but some one on the site was saying they had one,, best bet would be go aftermarket thur a stereo  install shop or pick one up at a salvage yard /junk yard   might just be a loose connection or shorted wire on the back side,,,might just want to try the disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and reboot it

...good luck and report back what you find out

I actually did try and disconnect the battery and unfortunately it did not work I would take it out and replace it myself with the same one but I am not handy like that!

if its just the radio that is a piece of cake you can watch u tube videos on how to do it very simple to do...the problem is knowing if that is your problem and not something else causing it? you might want to go to a stereo install and repair shop and get their opinun and see what they would charge to help you fix the problem, i think that would be your best bet since you seam limited on your skills also check out the salvaged yards/junk yards for a good radio and or the touch screen which is a different part than the radio.good luck and report back what you find

Radio reset needs 30 plus minutes of battery disconnected. 45-1 hour seems to work, if it’s going to work.

I have had the same issue for a couple years now, tried radio firmware update / reset did not help. It happens randomly and radio simply freezes and stops working, I simply shut off car at the next stop and restart, problem solved. not worth the $$ to fix as it does not happen daily. Personally, I think if needed an aftermarket compatible is best option.

Seems that disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes is like FCA's cure-all fix:

Brake pads shuttering when used at high speed? - - try disconnecting the negative terminal for 30 minutes.
low of wiper fluid? - - just disconnect the negative terminal, the warning light goes out.
That other driver gave you a dirty look? - - tell them to disconnect their negative terminal, and shove it up their bum.

Anyway, dumb jokes aside
Hope your issue is resolved soon. Best of luck OP
