Hi guys need help here with the journey bluetooth radio. Module has just been replaced a month ago by dealer and now is working again. However, whenever i play music everytime i turn on the car, it jumps like you know those old cassette tapes. Do i need a soft reset of the uconnect? I have the 8.4 inch screen by the way. Any idea how to do it? I tried uconnect soft reset videos in youtube but it doesn't work for the journey. Thanks

    Hi Neo,

We understand why this may be frustrating. You can perform a soft reset by following these instructions: 1) Put vehicle into the accessories mode (ACC or RUN)  **For keyless start (push-button) vehicles: push the start button twice without having foot on the gas or brake pedal** 2) Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons, at the same time, for thirty seconds. 3) Let go of the buttons 4) Turn vehicle off 5) Open driver’s side door for thirty seconds (or until dash illumination goes black) 6) Close door 7) Restart vehicle 8) Let the media center load up and see if concern is still present. If this does not help, please send us a private message and we'll gladly look into this further for you.

    Hello,

First post here, and I've found some information but not all the information I'm after.  I have a traction control light on the dash, around the area where a CEL would be, left side on the gauge cluster.  Traction control button activates a light indicator on the right side of the gauge cluster.  I'm not sure if that's the source of the cruise control not working, but I feel there is a correlation.   Cruise control doesn't work at all.  Dealer did a software update, open recall, which we hoped would affect the issue, but did not.  Journey appears to be out of warranty for a cruise control issue at 39,000 +/- miles.

Hopefully someone on here has had a similar issue and can share a resolve!

    Thank you

Are you planning on making the dealer aware the software update didn't work? Send us a direct message if we can be of any assistance with the servicing process.

    Morning all,

I've got a 2017 Journey Crossroad AWD and for the past 6 months I've been experiencing intermittent issues with bluetooth pairing when I start my car. It happens 6+ times/week where I start my car and the bluetooth does not pair with my phone. If I touch the phone icon on the screen it says there is no device and asks if I want to pair one. If I select yes, it searches and seaches but never locates the phone. It may connect 5 minutes, 10 minutes later or not at all or if I shut down and restart the car it may connect on the next attempt. I thought it was happening because my phone is not in the car when I remote start it, but it's also been happening when I'm sitting in the vehicle.

The second problem is that sometimes when it does connect to the car, I make a call and mid-conversation the call transfers to my handset and the bluetooth disconnects from the car. It may reconnect and transfer back to the car during the same phone call. The same thing has happened with my son & husband's phones also so I don't believe that this is an issue with my phone.

The car has 6000km left on factory warranty and because the problem is intermittent the dealer has been unable to replicate it. I've left the car at the dealer for full days several times for this issue and get told that their phones connected each time. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their Journey or another with UCONNECT? I'm worried this is one of those problems the dealer can't/won't find until it's out of warranty.

Any help or information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello tired1,

We're sorry to hear you're having such a tough time with your Bluetooth. Based on some of the verbiage you used in your post, it sounds like you reside outside of the United States. Our team is set up to assist customers in this region but if you could provide your location, I'll give you the contact information for the team in your home market. They'd be in the best position to get this over to Uconnect for additional troubleshooting.

Called the local Chrysler dealer today.  $135 to diagnose the transmission leak and they said I'll be responsible for the repair cost if they determine the leak is due to workmanship (of the Alabama service work).   Hmm, any bets?

They suggested I might try to get the Foley, Alabama dealership to cover their labor charges.    Hopefully the Foley, Alabama service manager will be returning my call.

Appointment is on Thursday the 11th.   I'll provide an update.

Keep us updated on your visit. If an additional layer of assistance is needed while in service, let us know. We're available via direct message and would be happy to escalate to a case specialist for handling.

Ok, actually, I do have a question.   It appears the transmission oil is coming from the pan - which I assume now that it was not sealed properly.

Does anyone know if my local Chrysler dealership will correct the work done by the Dodge dealership done in Foley, Alabama this past Wednesday (without charging me)?   That's fantasy, right?

If you end up going into the dealer, let us know. We're available via direct message and would be happy to help with that process.

Then, after another stop...nothing. Then later it al worked. Any idea what’s going on??? Has anyone else had this issue and figured it out???

I have a '15 SXT FWD, well maintained DJ that I have not had any issues in the last 3 years. I usually average 16.7 to 17.3 MPG / AVG on the dash monitor, since I do almost no freeway driving. On long trips I average 24 to 25 mpg, which is pretty satisfactory to me. Over the weekend I got in the car and noticed the display showing 12.9 AVG, which was very surprising to me. I drove about 3+/- miles and it went up to 15.4 AVG. I thought it was just a fluke and by the end of the day I ended up at 16.5 AVG. This morning I got back in and the display showed 12.9 AVG again. I drove to work (about 4 miles), and it ended up at 16.3 AVG. Car sat all day, and at the end of my day (about 8 hours) when I got in to go home, again the display showed 12.9 AVG. I looked around for anything similar on the forum and web, but do not see anything like this. Also not sure why the magical number of 12.9.

Anyone experience this before? Anyone know as to why this could be happening, or how to solve it? I'll be filling it up later today and will reset it at that point. I have not used any other gas station other than I normally do (Chevron 89). We have had a pretty big drop in our local temp, but not anything outside of the usual normal yearly drop. Seems like a system type of issue more than anything. No issues with starting the car or noticeable drop in the charging system (battery).

    Thoughts?

I have a 2015 Journey with the 3.6L V6 and about 78,000 miles on it. Earlier this month, I got a check engine light while idling stopped in traffic. I pulled the code, P0302 Cylinder #2 misfire, and cleared the codes. A couple days later, while idling in a parking space, CEL with same code popped up again. It went away on its own a couple days later. I thought maybe it was a bad tank of gas and moved on.

A couple fill-ups and about 1,000 miles later, the CEL came back with same P0302 code. Idle seems a bit rough but I notice any problems when moving.

I know the 2011-2012 Pentastars had a lot of problems with the left-side cylinder head causing cylinder misfires, to the point where leak testing the cylinders was the first diagnosis step. I understand later head designs after 2012-2013 were supposed to fix the problem but I've seen some sporadic postings of 2014 Pentastars with head issues.

Is the thinking even with the newer vehicles that misfires in the left bank are most likely a head problem? I'm trying to figure out if I should first try to replace the plugs/coil pack myself or should just take it into the dealer. I don't want to get into a big dealer bill if it's probably something I could have handled myself or had my local mechanic do.

    Thanks for any guidance!

    Hello AngryJourney,

If your vehicle is equipped with the 8.4 infotainment system it should have Bluetooth. Below are 2 links;the first link is a step by step on how to pair your phone with your vehicle. The 2nd  link is the directions from your owners manual which starts on page 425.  Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Hope everyone is doing well. Yesterday (08/08/2018), our Journey started rebooting our UConnect 8.4. It will reboot every 30 seconds to a minute and sometimes earlier. Software is up to date. Before anyone says "search the forum for an answer", I have and have not found anything useful. Car just hit 20k miles, so Im sure its still under warranty. Before I takr it to the dealership, I wanted to see if theres anything I can do.I recorded a video to show the problem....

Has anyone experienced any problems after getting the 49U update done? I had my 2015 Journey done yesterday. It drove fine yesterday but today, when I was about an hour away from home, the instrument cluster suddenly went haywire as I was driving. Check Engine, Traction Control, Brake, and ABS lights turned on plus a Service AWD message on the cluster LCD. The car drove OK. I got to a nearby parking lot and shut off the car. It wouldn't start - pressing the on/off button just cycled through accessory/run/off even with my foot on the brake. I ended up disconnecting the negative battery terminal and when I reconnected, the car started and ran fine. I'm thinking something got botched in the update?

Thanks so much for the reply and help, I have an appointment next week to have it looked at.

we are currently having a heat wave all this week so today the rpms again went higher then normal, but I decided to stop at a dealer and ask them If it’s normal and of course they said yes, it’s because the really hot weather we are having. No codes, no problem according to them lol.

Anyway I was wondering during really hot weather is it normal for the Ac to make the rpms go up even higher then Ac rpm normal to help with the extra load?  The rpms at a red light is around 875 rpm, the Ac still works perfect, all tempatures are ok. It’s just a couple hundred rpms higher and I only even noticed the higher rpms because I hear this humming sound. I always hear this humming from a belt or pulley during cold starts, then as soon as the rpms drop it goes away. It’s that same humming type noise I hear when the rpms goes up a couple houndred rpms extra from the AC.

I always remember whenever you turn off the Ac the rpm would go back down right away but with mine it stays up for a good while, I can even turn the car on and off and still higher rpm. Is that not proof of an issue? Because the rpms won’t go back down to normal?

im thinking of trying to clean out my throttle body tomorrow, is it possible without removing it all? I would just use a rag and a tooth brush sprayed with carb cleaner?

Keep us updated on your dealer visit. If an additional layer of assistance is needed, our team is available via direct message and would be happy to help.

    Hi Everyone,

I'm having what sounds like this same issue on my 2014 Journey. Does anyone know if this repair is considered part of the powertrain warranty? It seems like it would be as the AWD system is part of Powertrain. I'm really hoping so as I have 2 months left.

    Thanks!

I recently had a schedule maintenance and had a multipoint inspection on my dodge journey v6. I had them to look at everything and the only thing that needs to be fix is a worn out alignment on the rear left and I have an appointment to get it fixed because they had to order the part for it. Well my car was drivable until I parked my car in my driveway. I went in came out to start the car now it won't start. Light indicator MIL came on. The car won't start at all. I never had this problem...it is a dodge journey v6 2016. FYI I had the scheduled maintenance three days ago. It was doing great until now. Any advice or suggestions what could've cause this will be great. I got the car from Ford and only 49,000 miles.

I am having the same problem.  I searched for updates online and it came up with 2 updates, one for the radio and one for the navigation system.  I did the radio one fine.  I tried updating the navigation firmware and it isn't working.  I downloaded it to a flash drive, installed it on the car system, and it asks again if I want to update (but this time it says the current version and new version are the same, so I pushed the "no" button).  I assumed this meant my update was complete, like it was when I did the first update just minutes before this.  I go to the menu to look up the version number and it is still on the version that I updated the first time, but not the second updated version.  The instructions online say the version should be updated, but should it be an updated version listed in the same place as when I updated the radio firmware?  Is there a different location to look up what version I am running for the navigation system?  P.S. None of this has to do with updated maps.  I have not purchased updated maps yet.  I wanted to get these updates to work before I pay a bunch of money for that.

    Hi ms187,

If you could send me a direct message with your VIN, I can get this over to a Uconnect Case Specialist who may be able to provide further insight. Very sorry for any trouble and hope to hear from you soon.
