QuarterSwede reacted to dhh3 in Backup camera recommendations
When I purchased my DJ, I worked out a deal to have the Factory Camera installed. No hassles going this route.
Some Dealers will not install non-Mopar parts, or especially parts not purchased at the Dealership. Liability. You can thank all the no-loads for this as they sue for anything they can get. Personal liability has been tossed out the window.

QuarterSwede reacted to Journeyman425 in Trailer Tow FLASH (2014 Journey Crossroad)
From the service manual:
TRAILER SWAY CONTROLTrailer Sway Control (TSC) is safety feature made possible by ESP. TSC does not require driver input; it activates once the yaw sensor recognizes the unique vehicle motion associated with trailer sway and no steering input. It becomes clear that this motion has to be from a trailer and thus activates the brakes to eliminate the trailer sway.
Lobitz is correct in that the trailer wiring is not part of the TSC equation. The Yaw Sensor detects side-to-side motion and compares that motion to the steering wheel angle and movement. If the driver is not moving the wheel left or right but the vehicle has that left-right motion, then the ESP kicks in to counter it.

You can't at the moment. The service dept literally can't as the option (LMK code) is gone for them. Until it reappears you don't have an option. Stupid? Yes. Who knows why it isn't available to us in the US. High Beams burning out faster under warranty with DRL on? Who knows. -

I did, in fact, do just that - this is lifted from my previous post, above:
"Anyway, I checked your sales codes and all the proper ones have been added by the dealership. The lights should work after a restoration."

QuarterSwede reacted to bramfrank in 2016 Dodge Journey - 2nd Row Seat question
Well, unless you need it, why spend the extra money for the 3rd row, which is only good for midgets and munchkins and isn't exactly spacious? I prefer having the rollerblind cargo cover and if the resale isn't as good, there's the fact that it cost that much less up front . . .
As with everything out there, unless you pick up the parts from a scrap yard (and even then you won't be able to add the rear heat), converting is more trouble than buying the right thing up front.

QuarterSwede reacted to OhareFred in Somebody busted my antenna...
My 09 antenna broke in the car wash. Dealer replaced under warranty but it required the headliner being removed. Any chance you can use a broken screw extracter to remove whats left of the screw? Then u can just get the replacement antenna and screw it in..a word to the wise, I now always unscrew the antenna before using any car wash....

Thanks guys for all your advice and information-I appreciate every one very much. I'll let you know how things turn out once I pick out some speakers.

I bought Infinity Primus 6x9's for my rears and reused my trusty Kenwood eXcelon 5 1/4" for the fronts. Mounting depth wasn't an issue. The Scosche guide specs say 3.096". That's about right. It's plastic. It will give a tad as long as you don't go too deep. Helps if you use mounting foam as well. That'll pull it up at least another 1/4"

QuarterSwede reacted to jkeaton in NEW AFTERMARKET HEADLIGHTS!
Agreed. I've bought those "projector" headlights before for different vehicles. Light output is horrid.

QuarterSwede got a reaction from dhh3 in NEW AFTERMARKET HEADLIGHTS!
They look nice but I personally can't stand projector headlights. The light throw distance is so short as to be dangerous in the pitch black.

I was surprised that Crutchfield was wrong as well. I did my own measuring and found that this Sosche guide is the closest, although a bit off. The mounting depth for the dash speakers is basically anything as they're just deep holes underneath. The height isn't a concern either as my 2 way dash's fit fine and 3 way 6x9's also do. -

Thank you Journeyman. DRLs are finally functional. I can turn them on and off through the touchscreen. Love it. Not sure why you were able to do this and the service department at Melloy Dodge in Albuquerque couldn't accomplish it on two different occasions. Thank you again, sir. You are a hero and a gentleman. If I ever meet you, I'll buy you a beer.
Peace.

The Alpines that I purchased at Best Buy were 4 6x9s - one for each door. No mounting issues at all. This is the first time that I have heard of Crutchfield giving out bad info. I put a set of Alpine tweeters, with built in x-overs, in the dash.
I have a long thread on what I did for my sound system.

1991 Honda CRX Si - First car and man do I miss it. So much fun. It had a gorgeous black with gold fleck factory paint job. Moon roof too. Not many cars handle as well.
2000 Dodge Neon SE (loaded) - Great commuter, drove it till it died a few times.
2015 Dodge Journey SXT - 27K miles so far. Excellent commuter vehicle. So quiet, smooth, and powerful. Found it loves to be in cruise control. The average MPG really skyrocket when it controls the throttle (I hit 26 mpg while on flat roads in AZ, average 24 in mountainous CO). Great for AWD and 3 kids. Still think the exterior is outdated and ugly. Love the interior though.

There may not be enough room on the right side for a speaker because the rear heater core is there. There is some room on the left side because that is where the factory sub would be located.

QuarterSwede got a reaction from dhh3 in I broke down and did it.....
~$400 yikes! I'd go with a leaf blower and modify the output tube to make it narrower for, probably, similar wind output. But then again, I'm a father of 3 and they have most of my
money! Lol.
The Master Blaster deliver 3x (665mph) an electric leaf blowers output (250mph). Modifying the leaf blower output may actually double it to ~500mph. Hmm. Anyone have one to test? There aren't enough leaves in Colorado for me to buy one.

QuarterSwede reacted to jkeaton in Is the Dodge Journey oil filter really that special?
I don't mind paying $10 maybe once a year. Depends on how often you change your oil I guess.
