2016 Dodge Journey - 2nd Row Seat question

You lose storage space by having the 3rd row seating. Without the seats installed, you have extra storage below the floor in the rear where the seats would be. I can't tell you how much you lose as I've never done a comparison and I have the 3rd row seating in my '15.

I have not noticed a difference between our 09 without 3rd row and our 2013 with 3rd row with the exception of the aforementioned lower storage area. In my case, having a smaller storage area underneath is beneficial as my wife has less space to fill up with all her junk. Lol. With the third row stowed, there is not a noticibke difference in cargo capacity that I have found. Buy it's a nice feature to be able to haul 2more people when required. Tight? Yes. But it can be done without too much discomfort.

Does anyone know if one can have the dealer easily add a 2nd/3rd Row seat to a model that does not come with one or is the retrofit way too complicated/expensive? I see that if ordered with the 2nd/3rd row seat, it's only about $250 more. How much would it be to add it after the fact?

Well, unless you need it, why spend the extra money for the 3rd row, which is only good for midgets and munchkins and isn't exactly spacious? I prefer having the rollerblind cargo cover and if the resale isn't as good, there's the fact that it cost that much less up front . . .

As with everything out there, unless you pick up the parts from a scrap yard (and even then you won't be able to add the rear heat), converting is more trouble than buying the right thing up front.
