  1. coil packs could be breaking down under heat or under load.
  2. wiring to either the coil pack for number one or the injector for number one would be my next choice to check.. cleaned the connectors and check to see if you are indeed getting a proper signal to both the coil pack and injector, follow it back you might have had a critter chewing on wires or maybe a wire from the injector or coil pack is frayed and grounding out or losing connection. also wires and connectors to the crank sensor or the new crank sensor is not good . no timing belt on this little motor just a timing chain ..
  3. spark plugs are such a easy swap you might as well go ahead and replace them ... be sure to get recommend NGk plugs the motor is happier with them in there
  4. codes will tell all. could be anything , if the check engine light is flashing then you have a miss fire . plugs and coils first come to mind.. when was the plugs changed last ...would change them as the 2.4 plugs need to be changed every 30,000 miles . a scanner will tell you which clyd is missing .. also a bottle of chevron fuel system cleaner can't hurt .. just dump it in a near empty tank and fill up . that little 2.4 is a great engine , lacks a little on the horsepower end but loves to be run ...
  5. we don't get the snow down here so spare tire was okay . have the same clear tape over where the third road seats would be but its not leaking ..
  6. no problem with back doors , I checked everything and all the tape was off or had slits cut in them ...my cowling collects leaves too. and dirt .
  7. I know this is a old post but maybe some of you are still having this problem like I did. I cleaned all the sill and door holes holes on the cowling and even ran a air nozzle up the ac drain in hopes it was that . same problem this morning over night rain and drivers floor had water in it .. I noticed while removing the carpet that the previous owner had done the same . what I found surprised me . to the left of the brake pedal there are two lines cominging through the fire wall. the rear windshield washer hose and a main power cable. the leak was where the main power cable came through the firewall .mnot a very good bushing and had a foam square behind it I guess to help seal... when I ran a water hose over the windshield a lot of water came from the cowling and ran down the power cable and through the bushing and on to the floor of the car. the cowling really does not keep water out of the engine compartment at all . I was surprise there was not a drip loop or something to keep the water away ... poor design for sure . a bit of tuff stuff spray foam in the hole and filled up the foam cover stopped the leak... ran the water hose over the same spot in the windshield and all seems good to go.
  8. what ? why would you want to push the oil change that long .. I ingore the oil change reminder and just change it at 6000 miles and the reset the system .. it's easy to reset ... of course some times I get froggy and change it at 3000 miles.
  9. go for it !!!! sure the damage done would NOT be covered under warranty... it's not a 4x4 . the all wheel drive system was meant for slippery road conditions not muddling rock climbing etc .. of course if you are going to drive that new journey through a mud bog be sure to make a video of it ...
  10. the bottom video is the 3.5 and how the timing belt adjusters can make that noise . i think changing the belt would be cheap insurance
  11. I would have the timing belt changed and tensioner too. will cost you less now then if it fails and it's about due to be changed anyway because of the mileage. afraid you are going to have to throw a little cash in to it . but when you buy a used car you are buying someone else's problem. also since you bought it used expect to have to change the brakes etc . also check to see the age of the battery . I bet it's still the original one
  12. very short video . have you checked belts pulleys ect. could be something simple or the timing belt .
  13. my local dodge guy told me once you reset it it will take a few miles for the tranny to learn you habits... mine shifts smooth as silk and only seeing the tach move about do I know it's going through the gears...
  14. mines broken too going to figure a way to mount them better
  15. that question would be best to ask your dealer
  16. plus the 2.4 has got to be the easiest plug change on any engine I have ever had . they are right there on top . pull four coil packs with boots and take em out ..
  17. today's cars are very sensitive to battery voltage . low voltage can cause all kind of things to happen .
  18. the 2.4 use's copper plugs with 30,000 mile change .. stumbling when wet out points to coils and or boots . Carbon tracking on the plugs and boots. last plug change I put champions in it and I can tell the difference . some hesitation etc so going to put KGK plugs in ..
  19. 110,000 miles it's overdue on plug changes and timing belt too , might as get everything as recommend in the owners manual .. you don't want the timing belt to let go ...
  20. I wouldn't put sea foam in anything ...chevron fuel system cleaner yes but never sea foam .... fuel injectors would make a ticking noise not a loud knock ...
  21. down here in Texas we do not Normaly under coat cars . no real need . but has anyone used bed liners to coat the inside plastic wheel well liners . I ask because the cheap plastic rattles going over rough parts of a road .. was going to redo all the plastic fasteners and coat the wheel wells .
