Cruise control inop. & Traction Control light on dash

Hello,

First post here, and I've found some information but not all the information I'm after.  I have a traction control light on the dash, around the area where a CEL would be, left side on the gauge cluster.  Traction control button activates a light indicator on the right side of the gauge cluster.  I'm not sure if that's the source of the cruise control not working, but I feel there is a correlation.   Cruise control doesn't work at all.  Dealer did a software update, open recall, which we hoped would affect the issue, but did not.  Journey appears to be out of warranty for a cruise control issue at 39,000 +/- miles.

Hopefully someone on here has had a similar issue and can share a resolve!

Thank you

What kind of a Journey is this?  FWD or AWD?  Get a code read of the error.  That will tell you what is wrong.  Then you need to get it fixed and all the shit that is screwing up will work again.  Sometimes some sensors work with/effect other sensors and functions.  Did the dealer not do a code reading to determine why the Traction Control Light was on?  That should have been done.  Also, it is not a good idea to be driving the vehicle a lot if the traction control light is on.  It is on for a reason.  Something is wrong.  The vehicle is trying to tell you to get a code scan and fix it.  You can do more damage to the vehicle if you continue to drive it.

Are you planning on making the dealer aware the software update didn't work? Send us a direct message if we can be of any assistance with the servicing process.

Wheel speed sensor! Codes should point you to which one!

I too am having this issue and just got out of warranty. Are software updates covered still even if past 36k warranty cutoff? Just trying to save a dealership visit if i dont need one.

Typically they are customer pay after the 3/36,000 which is dumb but hey I guess they got their reasons. Some of them are considered flash updates and they will be covered regardless since they’re more like recalls in that aspect. I would say you ask your service advisor about it next time your at the dealership for a oil change (if you use one) or you could give them the vin and they could probably tell you.

if you’re having the exact issue as the OP I would say it’s most likely a wheel speed sensor and a quick scan would tell you which one was not responding!

not a wheel sensor. code is C006A-54 (trying to remember it so hoping that was right one lol) it led me to buying a multiaxis accelerator sensor but now i cannot for the life of me figure out WHERE the damn sensor is located. Several mechanic buddies also recommend straight switchout of sensor. off to hunt more schematics
