As member Oharefred posted and you now report of interior stuff now NOT working. The basic battery system needs first attention, RECHECK cable connections hopefully terminals of the battery cables were cleaned when battery was replaced before. but now a terminal clamp my have worked loose. YES your posted door latch and glove box problem will cause a "not in use" drain on the battery. BUT you should be able to drive and have the alternator charge enough to travel as you posted originally. Your couple week old battery may now be too drained to accept and hold ant jump or quick charge. Also the antitheft system can "kick in" when such things as the door latch or battery connections are not good.
My it is sounding like there is more going on than what was originally posted.....

that sounds better, as far as the heat range check out you tube for videos on how to bleed the air it is real easy just a simple screwdriver is used from the top of the engine by your oil filter, i would try to bleed it just to be sure also have your heat turned on in the cabin when doing it ass well, report back on what you find out and good luck

I think first you need to address the battery issue. Sounds like the battery is internally shorted. No matter what you do, if you don’t get a known good battery in there it will never run. Gone are the days of jumping a car with a totally dead battery and have the car run.

how about opening the glovebox, take everything out, then try closing it again.  You could try to peak up from the passenger footwell and see if you see any light….

Well, after an unexpectedly short time with our 2013 Journey R/T AWD, we had to say goodbye to it a couple of months ago. It had served us well, taken my spouse and I to and from work, hauled our two granddaughters to numerous functions and sports activities, and taken us on trips over three Canadian provinces. This year, it hauled hundreds of items to our new condo [and a lot of recyclables, and junk to our local depot before we moved].

Sadly, we had been experiencing shuddering and grinding noises since 2020. Despite a front-end repair under our extended warranty and another front-end inspection and work this past May, the problems continued. A diagnosis in June was that the electronic clutch control system had to be completely replaced, about $5,000 including labour [this is an assembly, not parts]. On a 9-year-old vehicle with about 60,000 km, my spouse and I debated what to do, and decided it had to go. After researching various makes and models, we traded it on a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. We were not looking for a Jeep but the model approximated what we wanted in an SUV.

I miss the Journey’s interior room [7-seater]; our new Grand Cherokee is a five-seater. I miss the underfloor and under passenger seat storage. I miss the wide-opening rear doors and the standard roof rack. I don’t miss the Journey’s AWD system; it was the source of a number of in-warranty repairs over the years and it just shuddered when going through snow or backing up a grade [this should have been a red flag to what occurred as described above]. I don’t miss its electrical issues (three batteries in the last 5 years, necessitating removing the left front wheel and wheel well cover each time to get the batteries replaced – I never understood why FCA could not find a place in the engine compartment to place the battery). It was also short on convenience items, safety features, had an old Uconnect interface with a terrible Garmin-based NAV system (more inaccurate than not, even after updating the software), and FCA never manufactured it with a power liftgate; the latter was important as my spouse is short and found it very difficult to pull the Journey’s hatch down to close. We don’t have regrets buying it, just keeping it as long as we did.

I appreciate the time as a member of this forum and the numerous posts regarding owners’ experiences. This will obviously be my last post and I will eventually cancel my membership. Good luck to everyone and I hope that you continue to enjoy your “journey with your Journey.”

Geezzzz.... these responses seem to be worse case scenarios. How about starting with the basics. Home install of the alternator, could be a loose screw that isn't making good contact (we've all done it). Are the battery terminals nice and tight, and clean? Is the battery itself good? Again, just because it's new, doesn't mean there isn't an issue.
Verify what you have done before assuming what it could be. Hopefully it isn't a major item... good luck.

Call it personal preference on my part to torque my wheels with weight off the tires. I would rightly assume that with the weight on the wheels, you'll probably hit an accurate 100 ft-lbs on the top nut(s), but when torquing the bottom nut(s) the weight on the tire won't get you an accurate torque. Think about it, you're applying pressure to the nuts with the tire weighted down on the ground. But hey it's all personal preference. There's tons of debates on this subject and each person will choose their own respective way.

As for the manual stating the tire should be on the ground , I'm thinking they mean lower the tire just enough so it gets traction on the ground so you can torque the nuts without the tire spinning. Which is what I do. I lower the tires to the ground just enough to prevent them from spinning , while still having 90% of the weight off them, so that each lug nut gets an even amount of torque applied to it.

Again that's my preference, I'm not here to debate which way is best. I simply know what works best for me after trial and error.

Sorry to say this, but as an 09 and probably high(+100k miles), but this is the 3.5 TIMING BELT driven engine and there's a good chance that the timing belt broke. And at the speed posted of when it happened, the motor is probably shot.

sounds like you need to find a qualified mech to fix this problem as your reg mech really doesn't seem to know anything about AC work and as from the questions you are asking us here on the blog indicates you are not applicable as well to find the problem ...not being mean its just AC work requires special tools and equipment and the know how to use it as well, also it can get real expensive real quick as well this NOT something that can be diagnostic over the internet,,,ask around of your friends for dealerships or shops that specialize in ac work as well....good luck and report back on what you find out

    Welcome to the forum.
Wiring harness would need to be in substitute door for the power lock handle.
I would remove inner door panel and try to see if lock plug is there from inner door wire harness, before buying a new handle.

WOW what a way to have to "bow out" of the "scene" here! Hope all works out for you and your son.
That is sort of the fear I have with my son and the late night driving he has to do with his job. Not so much worried for other vehicles hitting them, but the natures wildlife and possible loose farm animals(Deer, BEAR, Horses, Cows)  on our twisty narrow country roads.

Well, my 09 DJ has come to its end.  My son was driving it because his Sebring Convertible was hit while parked by a semi a month ago.  Total loss.  Monday the DJ an 8 other cars get hit by…..a semi. Another TOTAL LOSS!   He lives on a side street!!!  Why semi trucks are driving there is beyond me.  It’s ILLEGAL to take any truck over 5 tons on a side street in Chicago.  At least the first time he got the DOT # off the cab before the driver fled.  This was a pure hit and run.  Bastard.

Any way, thanks to all who gave advise to me!  Everyone be safe and stay healthy!

just FYI for people in the future that have a problem like this...car is fixed and didnt cost anything...ok, has 143,000 miles on it, it started right up and ran perfectly, until it hit 3 or 4th gear, then it seemed like it went in limp mode(dropped horsepower like in half), but it wasnt limp mode, had two separate bad ass scanners(one over 5000.00) and both said it wasnt in limp mode, but it was  a DOG.....neither guy could figure it out with scanners, until at last minute I told the last guy, lets reset the computer back to stock specs, which he did, and vehicle runs great...it was dropping the injector signal to injectors 1 and 4....you can feel injectors click when they are working normal and it is idling....when car was running fine you could feel the click on all four injectors, then when it was running like crap, no clicking from the two injectors...reset computer and it instantly was fine and stayed that way...

Blinking mil light is the don't drive the car light, major issue.  Doing damage to cats etc driving it. Maybe mice nibbled on some wiring when it was sitting.

Look at coil wiring under the plastic cover over engine, also inspect O2 upstream sensor wiring.
Need exact codes for trouble shooting purposes. Changing plugs sounds good, keep track of which ones look fouled.
You got a deal, but will need to catch up on maintenance now.

There was a guy in my older brother's HS class that had a trap door in the backseat floor of his car.  So when the cops stopped him and his buddies, the one in the back seat would just set their stash on the pavement, under the car.  (Then retrieve it when he was told he could go.)
