I don't know of any OEM nav that does red light cam warnings. I know most new portable GPSs do. Even free phone apps do.
Try downloading an app called WAZE. It's a navigation app built community reports. It warns of hidden cops, traffic, accidents etc.. It's what I use when I have to use a GPS.

I don't have a nav 8.4 but I've never seen anything or heard anything that suggest the nav on the DJ supports speed trap/red light camera warning.
It DOES support traffic alerts though.

Ran a quick check on TechConnect ( I work for a dealer) to see if there have been any capacity changes. None that I see. I know the oil filter housing and filter element were changed for 2014 and are NOT interchangeable with earlier years, but the overall oil capacity remains at six quarts.
I wonder if it was overfilled at delivery?
Very important that the oil filter housing cap is removed prior to removing the oil drain plug. This allows the oil to drain from the OFH. I have changed the oil twice on my Journey so far, Both times it took six quarts and read full, but in between the first and second service I had to add 1/2 quart. I attributed that to break-in as I have driven 4800 miles since the last service and it is still full. I use 5W-20 synthetic oil now. The first time I used conventional oil.
Check out this graphic and you will see why it takes a long time for all the oil to flow back into the pan!
    09 - Engine, 3.6L/Lubrication/Operation OPERATION

The oil from the oil pan is pumped by a vane type oil pump mounted to the bottom of the cylinder block that is chain driven by the crankshaft sprocket. The oil from the pump travels to the oil filter element and then to the oil cooler assembly. After the oil has been filtered and cooled, the oil enters the main oil gallery. The pressurized oil travels through the main gallery to the four main journals to lubricate the crankshaft main bearings. The pressurized oil travels through the crankshaft main journals to cross-drilling supplying oil to the connecting rod journals. From the number one main bearing gallery, oil travels to the right secondary chain tensioner and to the primary chain idler shaft. The main oil gallery also supplies oil to three sets of piston oil cooling jets. From the cylinder block the oil flows through drillings into the left and right cylinder heads. Left cylinder head oil is supplied to the left secondary timing chain tensioner, camshaft journals and hydraulic lash adjusters. Right cylinder hear oil is supplied to the right camshaft journals and hydraulic lash adjusters. The camshaft valve lobes and rocker arms are lubricated through a small hole in the rocker arm; oil flows through the lash adjuster then through the rocker arm and onto the camshaft lobe. Oil also flows through each of the four forward camshaft bearings into the camshafts and phasers.

I love my Journey. I also work for a dealer. Of all the customers who have bought Journeys from us, I have only met one who does not like the car. It's a shame that you are dissatisfied with yours. You are certainly entitled to your feelings about the car, but as Addicted to Dodge pointed out, garnering support for a class action suit on this particular forum may be difficult indeed. The enthusiasts here far outweigh the dissents. I sincerely hope your problems are eventually resolved or that you are able to find an amicable exit from ownership into something you enjoy.

and my DJ still runs just like it's brand new. Its hard to believe that its already been 30 months. I still feel like it's new. I've been absolutely happy up to this point. Haven't even had to do brakes in 33,000+ miles. Still have the OEM kumhos on with more than half the tread left. I drive my DJ 70%/30% highway/city.
    Peace.

jkeaton reacted to martinbec05 in my brake problems are "normal" ... *facepalm
I bought my 2011 Journey Mainstreet with 43,000 miles on it. Needless to say, it soon needed brakes. I purchased a set of pads and rotors from Callahan Brake through Amazon for $186.00. I had the wet rotor sound on these new pads right after I installed them. I contacted Callahan and they sent me a break-in procedure for the pads After performing the break-in they are working efficiently and quietly. Been about three months now and perfectly happy.
The pads are ceramic and so they do need the break-in. This consisted of five hard brakings from 40 mph to 5 mph. And then 5 medium brakings from 40 to 5 mph. Then drive for at least ten minutes with little or no use to let them cool. The hardest part of all this is finding a road that you can do it on. This deposits some of the pad on the rotor and creates a good, smooth surface for breaking.
It all worked great for me.

Well lucky you that you can ignore the fuel consumption readouts as my eyes are totally fixated on it! It's almost become like an addictive challenge for me getting the L/100 km's as low as possible and then the wife will take it and wipe out all of the progress I've made.....ughhh! I'm just glad my daily driver doesn't have that feature cuz it consumes me when I drive and yet I cannot bring myself to switch it over to any other display....help!

jkeaton reacted to cruisinbill in My impressions after two months
I've been a Journey owner for about two months with just over 1400 km driven, about 90% city/10% highway. My worst fuel economy has been about 20 litres /100 km and best just under 14. It's been damn cold here so warming up the vehicle a little longer than usual is probably driving the numbers up.
I love the room, soft-touch interior, engine power (nice sound and responsive), controls, heated seats/steering wheel, the backup assist warning system/rear view camera, the remote start, the AWD on our snow-covered streets, and generally the 8.4N system.
I have similar concerns to other forum members about the upshifting of the transmission. It's just all over the place and the colder the weather, the worse it gets. I am not impressed with the front and rear wipers; they just do not do the job when there is snow on the glass. I am also not impressed with the placement of the backup camera - it gets dirty too quickly - it should be mounted higher on the lift gate. This vehicle also has the passive entry system which is good, however, I put it in with concerns as there have been media reports recently that thieves are using some kind of cheap scanner which opens the vehicle in a few seconds. Although it is unlikely the vehicle can be started, it means making sure that there is nothing personally identifiable left in the Journey .
Some things I am wondering about:
    - the manual makes reference to power-folding side mirrors but, even with many option packages on this vehicle, I could not see anywhere where they were offered. At the least the manual ones are heated which they were not on my '08 Caliber SRT4. Does anyone have them on their '13 Journey?
Some things I wish were offered:
    - power rear lift gate - that would really help my spouse with her arthritic shoulders.
    - power passenger seat - my spouse finds it difficult to adjust it manually when she is the passenger
    - a rear tonneau cover, in spite of having the 7-passenger option. We don't use these seats so it would be nice to be able to cover items in the rear cargo area.
    - a better cabin lighting system, especially for illuminating the black floor. .
All in all, we're very pleased with the vehicle and look forward to many years of service.

Just upgrade your interior lighting so it's all LED bulbs. We did that first thing when we got ours and it makes a huge difference. Super annoying how Dodge couldn't splurge the extra $10 to make everything inside LED.
I wonder if there's any way to retrofit a power lift for the hatch? That would be nice to have too. Just give the transmission time to break in; it'll get better. At least ours did after probably 6 months of driving or so. Have you had the TSB done to reflash the transmission?

I would reset it and start over. I dont put much stock in those MPG readouts anyway, hardly ever look at mine. IMO they are just a fancy gimmick. If you want true MPG, do it the old fashioned way, calculate by hand.

Very true. Most stores will rent you the tools. They normally charge what the tool set would cost new, but then refund it when you bring them back. Or, if your like me, I just decide I could use the tools and end up keeping them. You can also get brake tool kits off ebay for cheap. I got a kit for calipers that includes all the adapters for all makes of vehicles for under $30. Most of the newer rear brakes can't use a plain old c-clamp to seat the piston, you have to turn the piston while pressing it in, those kits are a life saver to be. I used to do it with a pair of needle nose pliers. Took forever!

Easy enough. Unbolt the calipers, remove the pads, seat the piston (remove the brake fluid reservoir and remove some brake fluid so it does not overflow when the fluid gets pushed back into it), as stated above, you need a special tool to turn the brake piston in while puching it. Install the new pads, reinstall the caliper. Message me if you need assistance.

My FWD DJ does not do this. Or if it does, it is quite mild. Evidently it is either due to the AWD system or the transmission programming. That's my understanding.

The Journey is very popular here in our city. It's not uncommon to see 2-3 Journeys at a stoplight at the same time on a regular basis. They are all over the city, it's almost like a pack mentality. They claim that the Journey is the number one selling crossover in Canada and I don't doubt it by how many we see here in Windsor, Ontario. We love our Journeys!!!!!
