1. yes stay away from the black plastic...at least from my experince.. LOL
2. have been told that using ceramic pads will reduce the dust problems, but they also are tougher on the rotors, i talked to 3 different parts store and they all said the same thing about the pads wearing out the rotors because they build up more heat when stopping. havent ever tried ceramic pads. wonder if this is true?
3. how did it get cracked? assuming its your fault since you wanting to replace it yourself, having the air conditions controls on there does give me worries about it going bad after warrenty going out.
4. forgot to add that didnt notice any added noise from engine after adding the K N airfilter
5. just got back from a trip went 488 miles round trip some city driving and rest highway used 20 gals avg. 24.4 mpg. i had just put in a K N air filter .seems it might have helped a little as i usaully get around 22 -23 on this stretch of road. going on a longer trip next month will check it again. this is going about 65-75 mph. i re-set the computer while driving and car said i was getting 26 -27 mpg so anyone who does that is not getting a true sample. always use miles divided by gallons to get a true mpg.and best to use 3 to 4 tanks to get a good avg.
6. well at least you got good mileage out of them and yes you can go to different size tires that are close to your size go to a good tire store to check what they would suggest and then check with a different store to see what the suggest just to be sure
7. the oil light only tells you when the oil PRESSURE is low . it does NOT tell you when you are getting low on oil, that is what the oil dip stick is there for. the same for your TEMP. light tells you when the engine is getting to hot, but it doesnt tell you when your low on coolant untill its to late.always look at the reservoir jug to make sure you have coolant.
8. just found the cabin air filter on 2011 mainstreet. open the glove box and then push in on the tabs at each side so the box opens all the way and spill the contents on the floor. then look straight in at the long cover that says air flow this way, push on on tabs at each end. then pull out filter and replace with new one, put every thing back and then keep blood from dripping on carpet as there are some REAL SHARP edges in there so be carefull learn from my experince LOL just 2 small cuts. also advance auto does have these in stock for about $16.00.... if you are fat and old like me you might just want to pay someone or maybee the auto parts store might put it in for you.
9. just got back from dealer from having my oil changed and they said my cabin air filter was real dirty and showed it to me and i said go ahead and change it. ouch $23. with my company discount ( $26. RETAIL)no charge to put it in,they said it was under the glove box looked but didnt see where it went have to look again. checked on a air filter for the engine and it was about $26. also and cant find any at local auto parts so i broke down and ordered one off auto anything they matched advance auto got it for $43. should be in come monday or tue. have one on my 2001 truck thought it might help gas mileage but it never did.will see if it does any thing on the journey at least will save some money on replacement filters cost.so far still loveing my journey gas mileage about 19- 20 in town and 23-25 on the road. also picked up one oil filter cost me about $7.. with my discount retailed for $8.25 will do a syn oil change next oil change was going to let the dealer do it this time and pay the difference in price from the reg oil but they didnt have any in stock and they would have to had sent someone down the street to get the oil(what the hell) told them to skip it and just do the reg oil change for now. and this is a huge dealership and they dont keep no syn oil on hand had to laugh about that one. oh well
10. he might be talking about the kind where they replace your rear driving mirror with a bigger one that on one end of it will show the view from the rear of your journey. i have the 8.4 without a camera and they said that was all they could add and couldnt add the one that goes thur my screen. they wanted about $550. at the time. but i didnt have it done. still thinking about doing the lockpik camera but havent pulled the trigger yet...
11. check different dealerships on the price of the part.. years ago had to have some carpet in a van replaced so i had to get 3 different quotes for insurance work and expected different $$ on the labor but figured the carpet would be the same price, boy was i wrong got 3 estimates with 3 different prices on carpet and also on the labor
12. dealership or maybee a junk yard, i still cant get an air filter at auto zone yet for my 2011 guess ill pick one up at the dealer next oil change
13. i have a 2011 mainstreet with 3.6.last year i was driving from alabama to las vegas and avg about 24-25 straight freeway driving about 75mph thur oaklahoma, texas, new mexico coming back the same way i avg about 30-32 mpg for 3 tanks of gas.only on the way back the elavation on the road is downhill. i was happy with the mph but that doesnt mean my car gets 30 all the time, its what you get over the long haul not what a silly gage on the cars says. average mph in the city is 19- 20mph and about 24-25 on the road straight driving at about 75mph.also check out on google about K-N airfilters compared to OME paper filters done on lab testers. the K-N filters let more dust thur the filter than the OME filters did. JUST might want to check this out brfore buying one.
14. you are right if you changed the oil every 3k, but if you use syn. oil and change it every 8 -10 k then you are not wasting money.plus you WILL get better mpg by using syn oil, and not having to change it so often ,saving money and useing less oil . you are right as i never said i did leak down test or other procedures like i guess you did. my vans were used by my kids after i put 120k on them till they sold them with no engine problems.oh well keep changing your oil every 3k and good luck
15. the contaminants are caught in the oil filter and NOT sent back thur the enging as you are stating. that is the reason of the filter. yes you would be running the oil thur a slightly dirty filter but that is the job of the filter. and i have went 8 to 10k on my last 4 vans and my curent truck which s a 2001 dodge and they all never had any problems with the engines. but to each their own to what they like to do. i like to be able to go longer between oil changes as i put alot of miles on my cars while i was working. thank god that is history now. LOL
16. do you always change every 3 k i do mine every 8 to 10k when using synthetic oil.
17. ive done all my own brake jobs and have never turned new rotors and never have read that you should. oh well never had problems either guess ive been lucky
18.

check out this review ...ebay.com/Performance-quot-chips-quot-Do-they-re... if it was this easy to increase MPG and or H. P. the car compines would have put them on the cars from the factory. as they always want their cars to have more horse power and great gas mileage to help sell them and to meet goverment requirements on MPG. now it is possible to tune to get more power out of engines but that will not get you better MPG and you will have to run premium gas.if you to an engine to get better MPG you will lose HP. it is that simple to understand. also why is it the posters on here telling us about great gas mileage and or other gadgets that can be bought and put on your car with hardly any trouble have only just 2 or real low postings. they may be real but i suspect they are just spreading false or misleading info.... just be carefull before doing any thing to your new cars that might void your warrenty or damage your eng... IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE,well you know the rest. just my 2 cents worth. that saying has served me well for 59 years so far...........

19. dolphinsrule.. dodge care was just trying to explain the problem. and was offering to help if he could as was others, but as you said dont buy nothing online without seeing it before signing the paper work.i have never ordered a car i always buy off the lot that way i KNOW what i am getting. that way if there is any thing to be fixed on it it gets done BEFORE i sign the final paperwork. learned that a long time ago about the sales man promises are made to be broken.
20. you need to think out what you are saying or trying to type. most of your post doesnt make sense. If your order calls for a 22 f package and that includes the roof rack then contact the numbers in your manual to call the main office for help and tell them your dealer is not helping to correct the problem . make sure you keep copies of all paperwork and who you talk to names, dates, times. be nice and dont rant or rave ,keep your complaint short and to the point. hope every thing works out for you.
21. are you going to add the back up camera or did yours come with it?
22. my 2011 mainstreet does not have auto lights but my drls worked after i activaited them thur the radio..
23. i was checking the internet on the k-n airfilter and seen a story on how an independent lab did a test comparing regular paper filters and k-n filters and the reg filters act came out better than the k-n did.the k-n let more small particals of grit thur than the reg filters did and they also didnt improve performance amd mpg enough that a you would notice in real life trials. as i have had one experince with k-n in my 2001 dodge truck that i didnt notice any improvment in horse power or mpg,but at least i didnt have to clean it that often either, < which by the way is a pain as you have to wash them out and then let them dry anf then buy the special oil to reoil them with which isnt cheap, whole process takes a couple of hours to get it dry and put back in> so i paid about $35. for the filter and about $10. for the oil and i have 90k miles on the truck so i probaly could have bought reg air filters cheaper than the k-n... LOL oh well in hind sight . i wont be trying any k-n filter in my journey after all if it really helped out with better mpg or power dont you think chrysler would have put them in to help on their mandated mpg average.www.nicoclub.com/archives/kn-vs-oem-filter.html
24. we had a minn-van all the gages started going crazy and the next day the van wouldnt start it was the battery going bad, replaced it and no more problems. hope that is all it is with your journey ,mopar batteries only last 2 or 3 yrs. max with all my cars. have the shop check your charging system also to make sure it is produceing enough current to charge the battery. good luck
