  1. i went to a custom acc. dealer that had a unit for rear cam and he wanted $700. to install a rear cam unit in my 2011 and he offered 2 different cameras one like you used which he said was like a mercedie quality and he also offered a lic. plate frame with the camera built in at the top that was able to be adjusted alittle by using a allen wrench up and down... never did have him install it thought it was too much as i had priced the lock pic and it was about $325 new with a camera wife doesnt want me to tear the car apart..lol doesnt trust me oh well....................... p.s. i mentioned to the dealer if he used the lock pic brand and he said NO he used audio vox and that the lock pic wasnt of good quality. dont know but thats what he said.
  2. the discount is off the sticker price and then you get the rebates knocked off. but to be honest you can get a better deal by doing your own haggling then the friends discount.i worked for chry. and one time i went to a dealer in a different town and told them i was looking for a truck with the options i wanted and i had already priced it at my reg dealer and i knew what the price was on the same truck. well they showed me a truck with all the same options and would throw in a bed liner for a better price that i could have bought using my employee discount, only problem i didnt like the color of that truck..lol so just do some price checking and when you get ready let them know your ready to buy that day but the they only one chance to sell you one or you walk away. good luck
  3. i can see your complaint on the brake job price but you did go back to the dealership so you KNEW the price was going to be expensive. BUT you got 60k on your tires and seem to think that was out of line also tires would have been cheaper at a tire store instead of the dealership. ive got 49k on my 17 inch kumos and still got alot of tread left but will replace them before winter because they will be getting low on tread and i dont wont to push to get more miles out of them i would rather have new tires going into the winter time. but 60 k on most tires is a great value....
  4. ive had many dodge caravans the last 10-15 years and never had any rotor problems like the journeys are having and i checked the curb weight on a 2004 (3838 lbs) vs a 2011 frt wheel drive mainstreet (3793 lbs) and had a extra rotor laying around from my 2007 dodge van that my daughter still drives on her mail route and she wears out a set of wagner thermoquiet pads every 6-8 months due to the stop and go and she hasnt had no warped roters going on 2 yrs as of now. any way i compared that rotor to the ones on my mainstreet and they look the same size. so i dont belive that every one saying that the warping of the rotors are due to the weight of the journeys.dont know what the problems that keep causing the warping but the next time i will replace them myself. the dodge dealer turned mine at 10 k and then replaced them again at 28k both rotors and pads as a one time goodwill service. as of know i have about 49k on the journey and no shuddering or pulsation but started getting a noise when applying the brakes during a really hard rain while driving it and then it went away. keeping my fingers crossed for good luck..
  5. p. s. i live in hartselle al which is about 25 miles to cullman and there is a dealer (decatur) closer to me but i wont use them because they are deceptive and their service manager is a real dick.but have bought almost all my cars in cullman from scottty and i worked at the chrylser plant in huntsville, al for 28 yrs. till i retired 6 yrs ago....
  6. well my bad, i had read it somewhere in the chrysler litature but couldnt find it so i called my sales friend in cullman al. and he said only if you have bought the extended warranty that they had to provide a rental car if it was going to be over a 24 hr repair. but he pointed out to that they gave me a rental and all their other purchasers a rental because they want happy campers and returning car buyers to return to them when buying an other car. and they do take great care of you at their location in cullman al. i have bought many cars from them so i guess loyalty does pay off sometimes.... check with your dealership before you take it in if you think its going to take more than 1 day to fix it and hopefully they will take care of you if not try cullman dodge next time and ask for scotty in sales he will treat you right with no b. s. like some dealers try to pull over on you
  7. still not working had to google it then it came up 116.. +15. shipping + tax think ill pass on it lol
  8. why post here without doing a little checking things out first... google 2009 egr valve and if you have a code type that in it will bring up all kinds of info and even has a u tube video showing how to replace it. you may have to check into what engine you have and an other good place to start is your local parts store most will show you the part and or where it is located and i believe auto zone has instructions on how to replace it and if you need certin tools some places will loan them with a deposit of course to make sure you bring them back... but try to google it first i have been able to fix alot of things by doing this first GOOD LUCK
  9. i agree with bigstar if it was that low i would make them document it and keep that paperwork and i also would be talking to the manager of the dealership about it and might try to get an extended warrenty at cost since you dont have no idea on what damage could have been done due to low oil. but as when i have any service work like oil change i always check the oil level before leaving the dealership. i just had my trans serviced and since we dont have a dip stick for it i had them check it again before i left and a week later i went by and they checked it again in front of me so i could see that it was at the correct level, they had no problem doing that for me with no cost.. always save any and all paperwork of service work done...............
  10. i would def take it back to the dealer where i guess you had the oil changed as they give you at least 4 free oil changes with your new car and tell them what is going on ( hope they were the ones that changed your oil as it sounds like they didnt refill enough oil in the engine so it would be their fault if there is any engine damage ) good luck and as always check your oil level and coolant at least ONCE a week..... just for safety sake i always do
  11. yes you should have been given paperwork showing what was done. like anything you buy you always get a reciept or paperwork to show what was done and paid. and yes it should be in the chrysler network so any chrysler dealership can pull it up for warrenty work....GO back and ask them to print you out your copy and put it into your warrenty book.........
  12. i have had my rotors turned by dealer at 11k then had to have them replaced at 29k by dealer they didnt want to cover it but i raised hell about them turning them at 11k and should have replaced them then they offered free install if i would pay for rotors and pads and when they told me how much i told them they were crazy that i could do it my self with after market parts for 1/4 their price and started to walk away the manager came after me and offered a goodwill full replacement on them i said okay. BUT when they go bad again i will replace the rotors and pads myself as not sure of the quality of the chrysler parts being used at this time. changing out the pads and rotors is not that hard go to you tube and watch a vidio on it .i do my daughters mail van ( dodge caravan) and it takes less than 1 hr parts are about $57 for pads and rotors (have only been changed once due to her fault for letting them go to long)about $65 for 2 of them.ALSO i dont believe in turning rotors as you only make them thinner thus making them easier to warp ,always replace them not that much more $$$$$ in the long run................. P. S. have about 46k on it now so far okay on the brakes
  13. have had my 2011 mainstreet and love it , as my wife and i do alot of traveling in it i noticed my left shoulder and elbow seems to ache after a long trip like 4-6 hrs driving, happenend to mention it to my wife who sometimes drives while i nap and she said hers aches also. i noticed i drive mostly with using my left elbow resting on the window edge. the window edge doesnt have much padding which could be causeing the sore elbow and i think the shoulder is because the seat is set low and all the way back, have been trying to not use my left arm to hold the wheel as much but old habits are hard to change. was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this also. other than that i love my journey for trips, well i dont like the trouble i have had with warped rotors already on the 2nd pair on the front with only 45k miles but at least the dealer did change them out the 2nd time, and the next time ill do my own work with aftermarket rotors and pads. never had a problem with the rotors on my minn-vans in the past and the gross weight of both vec. seem close to each other. and 3/4 of all my miles are interstate driving and hardly any city driving as i live in a small town. but other than that i would rec. a journey to any one looking for a good driving car....
  14. just got back from having my transmisson filter and fluids changed out had 45k on the journey cost was 169. but i am a chrysler ret. so get an extra 10 % off so it came to 158. tax included also picked up 2 more oil filters @ 7.50 each, should be set for a while now. could have had the local mech. do the trans. service for 110. but decided to let dodge do it in case something comes up down the line and have them try to say the other mech did it wrong or used the wrong fluid or filter so iam set for the next 60k till i hit the 100k limit on the power train warrenty..... better safe than sorry....
  15. mins your dealership is price gouging you. the dealer i go to his reg. price is 179.00 and they are running a special till the end of the month for 169. not much off but at least it is being done by a dodge dealer. and that is for a fuild and filter change not a flush with no filter change
  16. dodge care has a different job someone else was going to take over for him , check past post for his name
  17. i have a 2011 with 44k miles on it and so far no problems with my battery, but my past dodge cars and trucks the mopar battery that come from the factory would start dieing out after 2 to 3years or about this mileage, wondering if any other 2010 or newer journeys have had to replace theirs already. since it is in a hard to replace area not sure how long to let it go before getting it replaced as i dont like to be stranded somewhere as i do alot of traveling. since i live in alabama we dont get alot of hard cold or snow but the heat is hard the batteries. thanks and keep it between the ditches
  18. well i havealmost 44k on my kumos as of now and they still look great have not had them rebalanced but kept them rotated every 10 k did it myself so i know how it is being done and torque the lugs myself so they werent over tightend with a air gun, any ways they are looking great with lots of tread left but will change them out before next winter as i dont like to run them down to the tread wear ind. getting older i like to have good tread come winter or rainey weather, i used to run bridgestone turanza for yrs on my minn-van and really liked them and they gave me great service but if you googled them alot of drivers hated them so guess its how you drive and take care of them of course you can always get 1 bad tire and it can make the whole set feel bad . this is the first set of 17 inch kumos and cant complain about them they handle real good in the rain and we dont get that much snow in al. but havent had no driving problems with them. getting ready to get the transmission fuild and filter changed in the next couple of thousand miles and not having a dip stick for it really pisses me off, something like that should still be mandatory to be there cause you could get a small leak and not notice it and then burn the trans up. oh well guess ill get off the soap box and i could spend the $$ and get a dip stick when i have the fluid changed. take care everyone and keep it between the ditches.....
