Miguel Pereira got a reaction from 2late4u in Backup Camera Replacement
    Hello:

I'm sorry but for some reason I stopped getting notifications from the forum replies.
    SO the updates are:
The camera Ordered and received was the 56054158AB According to Mopar has been replaced by the one I received. I returned it and got the refund. too bad as the resolution and image was great Ordered the same from a vendor with good feedback on this. I installed the older one, still the same issues. Works 5/10 times The Android Auto/Apple CarPlay interface is a good point.... due to the issues and lack of support from ENG-Custom I'll just remove it one of these days. Once the new camera is here I'll post the updates and findings!

are you sure this is the right part number as it doesn't bring up the rear camera when i checked it????...it looks like your camera lens is upside down? i would get back in touch with who ever sold this to you, ,,,did you do the install? usually the camera lens comes in a  whole new trim bracket that you install on the deck lid...

56054158AG is the camera pigtail and lens according to mopar not sure what you bought, also if you did the install if the sales code has to be added to make the camera work correctly i would check with your local dodge dealership for more correct info good luck

If vehicle originally  had a functioning dealer camera already already, the code would have been installed.
You are correct the part number is wrong, here is a Canadian oem part link.

I think real issue could be firmware in the new oem camera reacting to the Apple car play  aftermarket interface unit you added.
Electronics sometimes don’t play nice when copy write stuff is involved.  Not much  plug and play in the proprietary automotive world.

I would try a generic aftermarket cam mounted in place of the factory cam. Try for higher IP68 I think water rating and best pixel rating you can find. Alpine aftermarket cams someone said are not bad, around $95 ish.

If you tap directly into the interior light fuse you should be able to achieve that. After a quick Google search it seems to be the Fuse number 101 in the interior fuse box at the feet passenger side.
For mine I taped into the bin power outlet fuse to have them on all the time when driving and it was way much easier than removing a bunch of trim pieces.

    Hello:

I just had my Journey serviced.
They told me that the pads are still ok, but the front rotors are almost done. Should replace them by the summer.
It has 121,000KM currently so they should last close to 80,000 miles. Factory brakes still on 4 wheels.

    Read that yesterday as well...
He's just another jumping on the shoot the Dodge Journey club.
We can do a lot worse thank Journey.
It's outdated on today's cars and features? Sure!
But has a lot of good stuff going for it as well.
All cars can become nightmares and unreliable, sure. And some batches are just problematic.
I'm on my second one and just love it. Reliability has been perfect with the exception of the rear camera.

Yep. 09-2012, brakes were under engineered. After that, over engineered. Lol.

I'm at 80k on my 2015, with approximately 65-70% of brake life left. Shocks me every time I get a service and am told... but thankful as well. No squeaking or vibration. Keep thinking my pads are going to outlast my rotors.

Just installed a Sony CarPlay radio last week. Other than the one piece of trim being black I like it so far. The ac controls take a bit getting used to as well

Well here she is. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it rides. The stock radio could sound better but it's not terrible. Definitely lighter on it's feet than the old Buick. Overall I'm impressed.

Thanks, I have figured out how to run the mic wire from the frame to the radio in the meantime. I found a video explaining how to replace the dashboard speakers which was very helpful in the process.

I fully agree with your assessment of the installation instructions - I’d even argue that they are practically non-existent, as they only consisted of one page showing how to connect the UConnect unit to the ENG-Custom module. Moreover, the manual omits the very basic information you provided: using the Back button to switch between UConnect and CarPlay.

I, too, was in contact with their support, mainly to find out how to connect the OEM rearview camera to the module. Have you got this to work? Apart from the camera, everything seems to work flawlessly at the moment. What kind of software issues were you struggling with?

Lastly, I attached a pic I took of the module installed in the spot behind the UConnect display that you had pointed out. Maybe this is helpful to someone else planning to take up the challenge.

Oh, and one more very basic question: how did you manage to attach the lower part of the A/C unit to the console again with the two metal clips? Somehow, they keep falling out for me.

    I installed myself.
ON a sunday, no rush... 2 hours was done with all testing and putting everything back. No scratches on plastics.

That would be a reason for me to think about it. I guess I could let the SiriusXM subscription for this car go, and stream from my phone...

    Any need to splice wires?

As far my experience goes, when using the interface there's no radio. I either use my phone's music on the microSD and native music player that shows up in Android Auto, or just use Amazon Music which is not heavy on data.

    Hey John:
Factory console USB still works and plays. Pictures attached.
If you don't have factory camera, this system has the RCA plug and the wiring. Additionally has in both cases extra video inputs for front camera and aftermarket parking sensors.

    Hello Naval:

It takes the reverse video signal rom the factory wiring/plug.
Also all touch screen features are fully functional on both the original UConnect and new interface

    Hello:

A lot of updates! I'll keep posting as get more experience...
Unit arrived. Is a newer generation that allows wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Installation was pretty straight forward, although I had and should investigate the microphone setup. I'll explain further down. Connection to backup camera is already done through the cable - there's more options for extra cameras or after market.  All you need is to press the back button to change between Uconnect and the Interface. It DOESN"T need any mod to the screen. you just plug the screen "LVDS" to the cable supplied.

Here is my in depth replacement on this wiring harness. What happens is the wires bend apart over time. They can be fixed but the only permanent solution is replacing the harness. Enjoy!
