  1. I'm just curious, how did you make out with your visit to the dealer? What did they actually do for you, if anything?
  2. Just to add my two cents worth; I can tell you that after my Journey has sat overnight, the first thing in the morning after I start it and put it into reverse, without giving it any gas it wil take about 20 seconds before it begins to move. If the car has not been driven for more than one day, it takes me stepping on the gas and reving up the engine and another 20 seconds before it will begin to move. After the car has moved for the first time of the day it's fine for the rest of the day, it's almost like the tranny fluid has drained down out of something in the transmission. I happened to be at the dealer recently and had the shop foreman do a ride along for another problem and I asked him about this issue. He told me he has never heard of this issue on the Journey, but he thinks that the tranny in our Journey is actually a Mercedes product. Remember this vehicle was designed when Mercedes was still involved with Chrysler.
  3. I'm not sure if this is your problem regarding the window issue, but from the manual (pg 37 of my '09 US manual); Reset It may be necessary at some point in time to reactivate the Auto-up/Auto-down feature. To do so, perform the following steps: 1. Pull the window switch up to close window completely and continue to hold the switch up for an additional two seconds after the window is closed. 2. Push the window switch down firmly to the second detent to open the window completely and continue to hold the switch down for an additional two seconds after the window is fully open. Hope this helps, let me know if this was your issue. Happy Motoring...

    Most miles?

I have just over 29,000 miles in just over 7 months......No repairs so far, but I'm sure I'm going to need brakes pretty soon.
  5. How do the prices compare? I know the dollar is pretty weak right now, and if your hubby is in the states, then shipping won't kill you either......
  6. I'm not sure what these "Sport Bars" are that you keep mentioning, do you have a part number. Are they much more expensive than the ones you have already purchased? How much weight are these other bars good for?
  7. Well, I went to the Dodge website and looked up that part number. The description states that it will carry 75-100 lbs., and it looks very similar to my factory installed roof rack. I've had my headliner down and do not see any additional support under the roof on my Journey, so I don't know what the garage would be talking about. You should ask the dealer where you bought the roof racks (I assume it's not the same place you are having them installed) about the load capacity. Good Luck.
  8. I'm not sure if they have what you are looking for, but I've purchased from them in the past, I have to warn you that they are a bit expensive; http://www.autoxclusive.com/xclusiveshop/index.php?cPath=7_209&osCsid=31858db3487f3fab916d61a5020b85c2 A lot of thier items seem to come from Germany, so I'm not sure it makes sense to buy in the US, maybe you could find a dealer on your side of the pond. Good Luck
  9. I purchased my '09 Journey 8 months ago and have 27,000 miles on her, and the brakes are still fine. I don't know what to stay to the rest of you, but mine was manufacturered in May '08, maybe they changed the type of pads they were using over the course of the production run.
  10. I remember reading about two months ago someone had a cover they weren't using and wanted to sell. Do a search and you should find it, but maybe it has been sold by now.
  11. I'm not sure about your cars in South America, but here in the US my Journey will only lower the front two windows with the remote (press unlock twice and hold the second time), but it will not raise the windows. My wife's Mercedes will raise or lower the windows with the remote, so it can be done and it is not a safety issue. I'm not sure if this info helps, but Happy Motoring.....
  12. Well the service manager at my dealership told me that they have had some problems with the brakes on Journey's. However he told me that the brake package on my Journey is the same as the one used on the Caravan, and the Caravan weighs 300 lbs more than the Journey! So I can't imagine what is the cause of the problem.
  13. I don't know about you folks up in Canada, but down here I can always find a coupon on the Dodge "For Owners" website. Just click on the "Specials & Savings" and then "Seasonal Service Specials". My dealer normally charges $25 for and oil change and $12 for tire rotation, but the Dodge site usually has coupons for an oil change & rotation for $17.95 and recently I had one that also added wiper blades for $21.95, of course this varies by location, and I don't know if they even offer this in Canada. The main reason I take my vehicle to the dealer for service is that if I have all of my scheduled maintenance done at the dealership then I get two free sets of tires, so it seems like a small price to pay for those big Kuhmo tires!
  14. Well it's been a few months now and I have sad news to report. I have been driving without the A/C for at least the last three months and I have to report that my mileage is almost exactly the same with the A/C on or off. I can't explain the rise in MPG when I first turned the A/C off, but I knew it had to be too good to be true. So just to recap, with or without the A/C my MPG is about 20-22. Happy motoring....
  15. From the Sirius website: TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR SIRIUS SUBSCRIBERS Lifetime Subscription Plan: A "Lifetime Subscription" is one that continues for the life of the receiver equipment. A Lifetime Subscription is not transferable if it is associated with a receiver installed by an automaker or an automotive dealer in a vehicle, except in the event the original receiver associated with that Lifetime Subscription is stolen, accidentally damaged or if, in the sole discretion of SIRIUS XM Radio Inc., it is defective. A Lifetime Subscription associated with a home, portable, or plug & play receiver is transferable from one receiver to another receiver, up to a maximum of three (3) times. Each permitted transfer of a Subscription is subject to a transfer fee. If you transfer a Lifetime Subscription from one receiver to another or from one person to another, you will be charged a transfer fee. The current transfer fee is set forth in these Terms. No transfer fee will be charged for the transfer of a Lifetime Subscription associated with a receiver installed by an automaker or an automotive dealer if, in the sole discretion of SIRIUS XM Radio Inc., the receiver is defective. Lifetime Subscriptions are nonrefundable. You may cancel a Lifetime Subscription but if you cancel during the first year of service you will be charged a cancellation fee set forth in these Terms.
  16. My understanding about the lifetime subscriptions is that they are "lifetime" for the life of only that radio, not your lifetime. Your new Journey radio would have a different radio ID, and therefore would not be valid with your lifetime subscription. REN/REQ/RER/RES/REU radios can be SAT equipped (you'll have a SAT button on the left side), but I don't think you'll be able to add your own SAT tuner if that is what you are asking. At least that's how I understand it....hope this helps.
  17. There are lots of things that are checked and must be in the right condition before the engine is allowed to start. Whether the doors are locked or not they are locked again, and all doors and the rear hatch must be closed. Even the hood has a switch to be sure that it is closed to be sure that nobody is working near the engine when it is started, and also the gearshift must be in park The fact that the engine starts tells me that all of those conditions are met, but once it is started you can open the doors, but I'm not sure about opening the hood and you definately can't put the car in gear until the key has been inserted. I'm not sure that any of this has something to do with your problem, but if it happens every time then the dealer should be able to hook up to the computer of the car and see exactly what is causing the shut-down condition. Good Luck and let us know what you find....
  18. I'm not sure this applies to your problem, but it solved my U-connect problem. I've owned my car since Jun '09 and the U-connect never worked quite right, but I could never have the dealer check it out properly. They always needed the car and my cell phone all day which was always a problem. They checked the software for that module, called Chrysler, and would always leave my ticket open (so there were not repeat visits for the same problem). Finally I sat there for six hours one day and they agreed to order a U-connect module, when the module arrived it was dead on arrival. Next it seems there was a long back-order time for the next replacement. Finally when the newest replacement (direct from the manufacturer) was installed, everything worked properly and has ever since. Up until the time they replaced my U-connect module they tried to blame my phone, or the version of bluetooth. Hope this helps.
  19. Great job!!! I just have a question about the mount. When folded up, what keeps it in the up postion? Is there just enough tension to keep it in that position, and if so then will it loosen up over time?
  20. Just ran across a sale price at Costco, the CoverKing Wetsuit seat cover is $30 (each row) until 20 Dec 09. This is the same price I paid back in July.

  22. My company manufactures the molding machines used by some of the suppliers for the Mexican assembly plant, and I can tell you that they mold both left-hand and right-hand instrument panels at that plant, so I would guess that they supply the Journey for all parts of the world.
  23. Yeah sometimes my dealer forgets to reset mine as well, and I can never remember how to do it. Luckily the procedure is in the owners manual.
  24. The only thing I can add is that sometimes when I insert the key and turn it to the ON position, sometimes I turn it too far to the Start position and this will cause the engine to shut-off. I also do not know the distance in feet that the remote will work, but it is a long way. Happy motoring...
  25. I think the mini USB would be for uploading to your computer, since USB is only 5 VDC and the unit is powered by 12 VDC, you are talking about two different cables. Once you remove the cover over the radio and climate control, you'll see how easy it'll be to snake a cable down to the power outlets. You can see the top of the dark little cubbie hole just past the power outlets and you'll see that the top is just a flap of rubber and there is room for several cables.
