  1. I too am having this same issue. I have an '09 with a 3.5L and had the R03 recall done last year. Recently I went to start the car and nothing happens, just one click. Turn it off and maybe on the fourth or fifth try it will start. And yes the car is firmly in Park (actually there's nothing different I do from the times it won't start until the time when it does start). Recently I found that if I use the Remote Start on my KeyFob, it always starts. So that may help in troubleshooting, I have an appointment next week. I'll let you know what they find...... UPDATE: I picked my car up from the dealer and they told me the problem was the WinModule that was replaced last year under the recall. Luckily my Lifetime Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty covered the repair, but the warranty does not cover KeyFob's, so I had to pay for two new keys. I called Chrysler to complain that a new WinModule should come with keys and while I understand the warranty doesn't cover KeyFob's, there's nothing wrong with my keys. The rep agreed that the keys should be covered under the warranty repair, but I'm still waiting to get my money back from the dealer..... The saga continues.
  2. So I'm just curious, do you not have a copy of your recall? While I don't have mine in front of me at the moment, I'm pretty sure that's where I saw the wording that stated they would replace all Fobiks, including any you may have purchased. I have my notice at home and I'll check this week-end...
  3. I just did my upgrade on the front wheels of my '09 this past weekend. I got my calipers from a junkyard and put new factory rotors and new pads on. Bled the brakes until new fluid came out and I had great pedal immediately. Was a very easy upgrade and I worried about bleeding the anti-lock brakes for nothing......
  4. Under the terms of the recall, Chrysler will replace all keys (OEM or Aftermarket) with a new Key Fob. I had my original two and one I bought on eBay and they gave me three new ones. I don't think they will be able to reprogram any of your original keys....and as I posted earlier, you cannot program you own Chrysler OEM keys anymore. Hope this helps.
  5. Yeah it always surprised me that they let you program the key fob yourself. Why let the customer do it for free when you could charge them a bunch for simple programming....after all, where else can they go to get it done?
  6. Sorry, but my dealer can only work on cars that visit their shop. They are not set-up to ship things Internationally. Good Luck though, sorry I couldn't be of more help....
  7. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but they have millions of vehicles affects by the recall. I'm not taking up for the manufacturers, but it's just not possible to provide that many parts for a recall, while still keeping up with production parts. I'm sure NHTSB gives the manufacturer at least a year depending on how many million vehicles are affected by a recall. Someone has to be first, and someone is always going to be the last person too..... Good Luck
  8. Just another update on this never ending topic. After I had my R03 recall performed, I tried to program and new spare key and to my amazement you are no longer able to perform this procedure yourself. I assume this has something to do with the new Win Module. I'm searching for the reason, but have not received any answers yet....I'll keep you posted.
  9. Just to add my two cents on this matter...I've purchased several Key Fobs from eBay and have never had a problem, approximately $25-$35. Remember, you're buy new fobs not someones old used one. The merchant I've used and have had no problems with is The Keyless King: http://www.ebay.com/usr/keylessking*?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 My car has remote start as well and so I took a chance and bought one without the Remote Stat button. My thought was that they were all the same inside and the only difference was the silk screened cover. But this was not the case, after programming, the blank remote start button did not work, so they must be different inside. It still worked for all the other functions, just not the remote start. Keep in mind that with the new R03 Recall, the Win Module is replaced and you'll get new key fobs (if your car is covered by the latest recall).
  10. While I see you have an '09 model and you live in Europe, have you received your recall notice yet, or perhaps checked the wording on the Dodge website? Certain model years are getting a stronger detent added, while the '09's should have the entire Win Module replaced, which then required new Fob's since they can't be reprogrammed. It sounds like they only installed the stronger detent. I can tell you that there is still some confusion at the dealers with this recall. I'm still trying to convince them that they need to replace my extra fob. The dealer thinks I have to contact Chrysler for reimbursement. I'll just have to educate them. Good Luck with your recall. P.S. The new Key Fobs are better than the older style (the new style don't have a separate battery compartment door on the rear). The old ones suffer from battery contacts not making contact....
  11. Well the first recall has been out for a few years and they never had parts for '08/'09 models. The stronger detents were available for newer models and now this recall finally fixes the remaining models. The reason I tried to give everyone a heads up before the notices went out, was that dealers actually one of every kit, and there are seven different kits. My dealer told me that this was the first time he has ever seen Chrysler send parts in advance of the notices being mailed. Good luck finding a dealer with parts.....
  12. If you have a part number, I'll check a few places for you.... Happy Motoring...
  13. So I was looking at the SaferCar.gov website when I saw the recall for the ignition switches that was mailed out in September of last year. But when reading it in detail, I see where Chrysler has expanded and modified the recall. The recall covers Dodge Journey vehicles manufactured June 29, 2007 to June 17, 2010. If I'm correct, the recall originally called for a stiffer detent to be added to the ignition switch to prevent it from changing to the off position. However, after reading the newest recall it states that a second notice is about to be mailed out in April 2015 and it states that the entire ignition switch is being replaced as well as new key Fob's Free of Charge. Here is the link to the website: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchSafetyIssues Just an update, even though I knew the answer, I called my dealer and asked my service adviser about the recall and she said that she didn't know anything about keys being replaced. She said they find out about three days before I do, and then there'll be a back-order for all the parts required. So I guess if you're affected by this recall, don't get in a hurry, but the good news is that we might be getting new key Fob's..... UPDATE: I just had my R03 Recall done yesterday, it took about two hours to complete. They replaced the WIN Module and programmed two new key fobs. The fobs appear to be the new style (my old one had a separate battery door on the back and the release for the valet key is slightly different), hopefully these fobs will function better than the original. I was told in the past that you had to turn in two working key fobs in order to get two new ones, but I only gave them one key fob when they took the car and they never asked for the second one. As far as I know you cannot reprogram the old one, so I'm not sure what good it'll do me...I'm just saying that was my experience. The dealer told me that they were just made aware of the expanded recall and that for the first time in history, parts showed up before the recall was announced to the customers. It's actually not officially been sent out to customers yet, although you should be getting your notice soon. There are seven different "kits" for affected vehicles (I guess the biggest difference is the options available on the remote) mine has the remote start option. Also the new WIN Module is a lot tighter when turning the key and when removing the key, it'll take a little getting used to it. UPDATE 2: I just received my recall notice in the mail today, and after reading it I discovered that in addition to replacing the two original key fobs, Chrysler will also replace any additional key fobs you may have purchased. So for those of us who bought an extra one just to have a spare and to also be able to program our own (you must have two working fobs), we should be able to get another new key fob. What the notice doesn't specify is whether they will only replace key fobs purchased from Dodge or any we may have bought on eBay....I'll keep you updated.
  14. I seem to recall that there was a problem with some '09 models where at the factory they applied stickers that didn't have a slit in them, thus allowing the water to not drain out of the door. My buddy had this problem and all the dealer did was to cut a slit in the sticker covering the drain..... I'm not saying this is your problem, but I can see how debris could cause a back-up. Happy Motoring.....
  15. CAN Bus (Controller Area Network) was developed by Bosch in the early 80's and released in 1986. Just sayin, Happy Motoring....
  16. I have an '09, so I'm approaching my fifth year with this vehicle. Back when the car was new I purchased the XPEL headlight film and applied it myself. I was so pleased with this product that I found a local installer and had the front bumper and the side mirrors covered, I think the cost was $50 for the headlight covers and the bumper was $350. I have just over 165,000 miles and I can say the front bumper has hardly a scratch or rock ding on it. Hope this helps, and Happy Motoring...
  17. I've had Sirius Sat Radio for about 6 years now and I'm convinced that their business model is to have an inflated price and then settle for a price that's about half and make the customer think they're getting a deal. I'm sure if they offered their service for 80 bucks that people would try and chisel them down to 40 bucks. My renewal started out around $140 and they settled on $70 back six years ago. Most recently it's gone up to $180 per year and they settle on $85, but I've gotten tired of the service always renewing at the retail price, auto billing to your credit card, and then you have to call and play the game. Since I only listen to about three channels and they repeat so much, I just last week canceled when my renewal came due. We'll see how much they spend on "special offers" to get me back!
  18. Just my two cents worth, but I too had problems with my remote, believing the battery was weak. A quick internet search will tell you there is definitely a design problem with the battery compartment. If you put pressure on the battery contact area of the case while trying to operate the remote will usually cause it to work properly. Since the remote is not covered under the warranty, ever, you're on your own. Since you can program a new key fob on your own if you have two working remotes, the secret is to buy a new remote (from eBay) before one of them stops working. Otherwise you'll have to have the dealer program the new remote for you, and dealers charge anywhere from $50-$150 for this service. A new remote purchased from the Internet can be had for as little as $25 and then if you program it yourself, this is cheap insurance. But remember for this to work you have to do it while you have two working keys (most everyone waits till they need one) and then they're at the mercy of the dealer! Hope this helps, and Happy Motoring.....
  19. I'm not sure if this is your problem, but at 90,000 miles I developed a rattle in the front end while going over bumps. Took it into the dealer and they said the outer tierod was about ready to fall off. So they changed it and I picked it up, but it still had the rattle. Took it back and they said the inner tierod was also bad. I guess they stopped looking when they found one thing wrong....thank goodness for that Lifetime Bumpe-To-Bumper Warranty! Happy Motoring...
  20. I don't know about todays Lifetime Warranty, but I purchased one from Chrysler in June '09 with my "new" '09 Journey. At the time the suggested price was around $3700, and I ended up paying $1800 from the dealer. My dealer also offers no deductible if I bring the vehicle to their dealership for service, so as long as I'm fortunate to break down near my home I'll save $100 bucks! So far I've used it for a water pump replacement, and two ball joint replacements. With just over 100k on my vehicle so far....I plan on seeing how far I can make it last! Wish me luck...
  21. I don't believe your tires are made in Vietnam, since Kuhmo does not have a manufacturing facility in that country. They do however have one in Macon, GA however; most Solus tires are manufacturered in their home country of Korea.
  22. Yes the battery is hidden, but once you remove the left front wheel, it's not that bad to access the battery. Once you get those pesky plastic clips out the wheel well panels drop out easily. I had to replace the battery on my '09 just before the vehicle was two years old.
  23. Actually it's "Controller Area Network"; this is a system developed by Bosch in the mid-eighties. It's not only used on cars, but industrial equipment as well. Not trying to slam you, I just like everyone to have the correct info.
  24. Hey I read your post about your dead battery on your '09 Journey. I too had the same issue and the dealer told me the same thing; that I was out of warranty and out of luck. Where did you send your e-mail to at Chrysler, I figure it can't hurt to try for some money back!

    Thanks,

    Brian

  25. For my '09 I purchased a set of CoverKing seat covers, they are two years old now and still look great. I purchased the style with blue inserts and they compliment my Deep Water Blue exterior perfectly. I haven't checked them lately, but if they don't offer any for the 2011 model year yet, just give them some time. Be forewarned that they are kinda expensive, but you get what you pay for and I think they are worth every penny. http://www.coverking.com/c-6-custom-seat-covers.aspx
