  1. Was surfing the local online shopping site Kijiji and on a nice hot August day found a hardly used set of 17in. Bridgestone Blizzak tires I was looking for to fit the used alloy wheels I got at a recycler. Since they were only a few blocks away I took a look, and yup, as stated in the ad, really only had 2500 Km on them. (1500 miles for the Yankee's) Owner moved to Texas. Got for less than half price. Such a deal! Should have seen the look I got at the dealer when I dropped them off to get mounted and balanced. Ok, I'm ready for you Mr. Polar Vortex!
  2. Wheel Specifications

NO! 16 inch rims were used on old Journeys that has smaller brakes pre 2013. On your 2015 they won't go over the brakes. The 17's will fit. That's what I use for winter tires, rather than my 19's, as 17 inch winter tires are a lot cheaper. 17 inch Caravan rims are exactly the same as the Journeys.
  3. Just found this on the Consumers Reports website. Haven't tried nor likely will. Might be useful to someone. https://www.consumerreports.org/automotive-technology/how-to-reboot-your-cars-infotainment-system/ How to reboot your infotainment system (their headline) FCA (Includes Dodge, Jeep, Ram) Uconnect with 8.4-inch screen (2013-2019) • Put the car into accessory mode by hitting the ignition button but without having your foot on the brakes. This turns on the accessory systems of the car. Then hold the temperature up button (red) and the temperature down button (blue) simultaneously for at least 8 seconds. The engineering menu should appear. The last menu item on the first page is Reset Radio. This will reboot the system. Uconnect (2013-2019) • Press and hold down the mute and source button for up to 10 seconds.
  4. Hey folks, a free plug for the War Amps Charity Key Tag Service in Canada. Was out mountain biking last summer and didn't realize I had a hole in a cycling jersey pocket and the key fob and keys fell out somewhere on my 2 hour ride. Ended up using the spare and did check the cost to replace from the dealer vs a locksmith company (within 5 bucks of each other). I had The War Amps Key Tag attached to the keys and almost a month to the day, a courier comes to my door with a package. Some kind soul found the keys, followed the instructions to drop in a Canada Post mailbox, and they found there way to The War Amps office, and they then forwarded them to me using the registration number with my confidential info. I was most pleased and tripled my annual donation immediately! Been using this service for years and a faithful contributor. It will continue.
  5. Not aware of any. This charity has been around in Canada since 1918. https://www.waramps.ca/home/
  6. If I get the letter I'll get it done. Otherwise, I could care less. Big red runs perfectly and only just passed 50,000 km. I don't drive much.
  7. Here is the story on the Consumers Report website. Looks like it will be in Canada and the U.S. https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/fiat-chrysler-recalls-vehicles-for-excessive-emissions/
  8. In case anyone is interested. US sourced projectors I found on E Bay. Cheaper than the stuff from China. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-Black-Projector-Headlights-w-LED-Halogen-Ver-2009-2014-Dodge-Journey-/291528228149?fits=Year%3A2014|Make%3ADodge|Model%3AJourney&hash=item43e06fbd35&vxp=mtr HP
  9. Bosch Rotors - lucky or not?

Get ceramic. The dust they give off is minimal and doesn't show unlike the metallic.
  10. What grinds your gears?

13 hour airplane rides across the Pacific. UGH.
  11. New Lights

https://www.carid.com/2014-dodge-journey-headlights/ Even though it says 2014. They fit all years
  12. Moisture Issue Won't Defog

The best thing about -25C is that salt becomes inactive and your car stays clean! Us Prairie people and our cars are quite hardy!
  13. I use premium for the cleaning properties and the fact that it does not contain ethanol. Not a fan of that. Since I drive so little (only about 10,000 km's per year) the cost difference doesn't bother me. Here, and in most places, regular and mid grade has ethanol in it. On a side note, I've had more than one small engine dealer tell me to only use premium without ethanol in small engines like snowblowers, lawnmowers, weed trimmers and blowers. Premium stores better, and personally I had nothing but trouble with a carb. on my gas weed eater, but on the dealers recommendation switched to premium and the issues disappeared. H.P.
  14. Winter Tires

Any auto wrecker will have lots of 17 inch wheels that will fit. Just ask for Journey or Caravan wheels. They are the same. H.P.
  15. Are 17" rims interchangeable for different years?

17 inch from any year are OK. NOT 16 inch.
  16. Ugh. Winter

It's here. Salt, slush, ice and of course, many idiots spinning out. Nothing changes. Happy I don't have that regular commute. Only really drive to go shopping or play hockey. Slowed down to only 2 hockey games per week. At middle age I'd play 5 or 6. I did manage to ride the mountain bike 2,472 kilometers this year. All trails. That ended with the snow. Off to the tropical north part of Australia in January. To go mountain biking! Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rain Forest too. Have to keep my eyes open for a variety of critters that would like me for a meal. Keep well folks. H.P.

  18. Ugh. Winter

Visiting. Second time. Got an apartment for a month in Port Douglas. I will avoid the stingers, salties and assorted spiders and snakes. Terrified of fish with teeth. LOL H.P..
  19. Tire Advice Needed Please

A quick check of tirerack.com shows some prices higher, some lower than your Tire Post file. Might want to check it out
  20. Interesting. With sales up 10% for the calendar 2015 year and 20% in January it looks like the redesigned Journey won't appear until the 18 model now. http://autoweek.com/article/car-news/heres-what-2018-chrysler-dodge-jeep-lineup-might-look H.P.
  21. Don't know where you are, rural or urban. My dealer here in Winnipeg had a replacement radio here in 3 days and replaced on the 5th. H.P.
  22. Dash cam anyone?

  23. Dash cam anyone?

I plug mine into the 12v outlet and it attaches to the windshield with a suction cup. Works fine. In my opinion I think anyone who doesn't get a dash cam is nuts. H.P.
  24. 2010 fwd

Absolutely. But they MUST be put on ALL 4 WHEELS! To do otherwise would create a very dangerous handling situation. They make turning and stopping on ice/snow improve greatly.
  25. I've found that while the sales people can be absolute slime scum sucking rat bastards, sometimes the service department can be quite good. While I love the service department where I bought my Journey, BUT those life forms lower than an amoeba in sales, kept on phoning me, even after asking them to stop, hoping I'd come by and trade my Journey in on a new one. This continued until I marched into the sales area and told them I was going to come back with a 20 pound sledge hammer and fix their phone system.
