  1. HI Tina - yes, a Sales Code has to be added to the vehicle's configuration, and then the vehicle reconfigured  so that the new code is recognized. This enables the trailer wiring and allows it to work.

I can add the sales code for you;  however your Journey will still have to go to a dealer in order to be reconfigured.  So with that being said, you may as well just have them add the sales code and then reconfigure it all at once. If you prefer that I add it for you and then you take it in for the reconfig, then please provide me with the last eight characters of your VIN and the approximate mileage, and I can add the code for you.

Had our first round of trouble where a valve cover gasket leaked, oil ran into the starter motor and shorted it out. Replaced the gasket, starter, battery, replaced the plugs with the intake out and changed the oil and filter. Three days later something sliced the passenger side rear tire on the Cross Bronx Expressway (shocker) but I was able to get the temporary spare on to get us home. New tire this weekend, and she runs and rides perfectly once again. This car has held up exceptionally well and still looks really good doing it. (I thought the photo would be attached but it's just a link to it, sorry)

  3. Still a very happy Journey owner. Nine years, 158.000 miles, and the car continues to be extremely reliable, comfortable, quiet and fun to drive. We've done a lot of traveling in this car and it has never been problematic on any road trip. It has not once failed to start. I'm not crazy about the 62TE transmission's shift programming and sometimes I use AutoStick and just do it myself, but the transmission itself is trouble-free. Last fall I replaced all four struts and installed new Michelin Primacy Touring A/S tires which are even smoother and quieter than the Kumho Solus tires that came with it, plus they are much better in the snow (my Journey is FWD, not AWD). Had the cam and lifter tick which developed a few thousand miles ago - it was just noisy, no engine light, and I have Lifetime Maximum Care which covered that repair with a $100.00 deductible and she's once again smooth and silent. Everything works. Here's a photo of it next to my new Challenger. Hard to tell which is the new car in this photo!

  4. Hi all, it's been a while since I've posted anything here. I am still a very happy Journey owner. Washed and detailed it today and it's sitting in my driveway looking beautiful. Eight years and 140,000 miles, and the car has been superb. We had a major collision late in 2014 at 30K miles when a young driver blew a red light and destroyed the whole front end of the car. It was repaired properly and 110K miles later, the car has had very few issues. The Radio Frequency Hub began intermittently dropping phone connectivity and was replaced. I had a bad temperature door actuator for the rear heater, and the usual P0128 thermostat rationality that affects nearly every 3.6 ever built. The important thing is that the car has never once left my wife stranded anywhere, and it remains quiet, comfortable and economical. It could now use a set of shocks - the body motions are not as controlled as they used to be. I went 110K miles on the original rear brakes. Three years after the last payment, we have no intention to get rid of it anytime soon. She loves the car as do I. My kids are out of the house now but our yellow lab goes everywhere in it with us. If I had to replace it tomorrow, I'd be disappointed that I couldn't buy another new one.

Here's a shot in the driveway from two years ago with the coffin up top getting ready to help move my oldest son home from college.

Would you happen to still have the link to that video?  Looks like I have the same problem and my dealer wants $900+tax CAD to replace the entire pump.

P06DD Pertains specifically to oil pressure as measured at the dual stage oil pump, where P0520 Is the pressure sensor under the intake. That is definitely the more common one. The oil pump falls under powertrain coverage. If your Journey is within the powertrain warranty then there would be no charge to replace it. The pressure sensor is a Basic 3/36 Warranty item.

  6. There is a service bulletin for the whine sound when cold. The idler pulley bearing can make this sound. Mine screeches for a few seconds in extreme cold. The power steering pump makes a noise like it's low on fluid for several seconds after cold start. Finally, there is a moaning sound from the engine after a cold start which lasts about a minute then stops. Been making that since new. The minivans do it too, but strangely, not the Grand Cherokee, Durango, 300 and Charger - essentially the RWD platforms as opposed to the FWD ones. No worries.

  7. Hi  All -

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I haven't been around here much lately but I still peek in occasionally when time permits! DJ is still going strong at 81,000 miles with no issues. All the best!

  8. My 2000 Chrysler 300M permits the customer to program an additional Sentry (chip) key, as long as there are two keys present which are already programmed. This is no longer permissible with the current FOBIK system. As JKeaton pointed out, the vehicle must be connected to a scan tool (Dodge dealers use a system called WiTech) to program additional FOBIKs.

You cannot disable a programmed FOBIK by following the procedure that you outlined in your post. Our dealership charges $36.00 to program a FOBIK and cut the door key. The procedure takes all of about 10-15 minutes to perform. Most places charge more.

Eh. Long story short. I showed all three codes as was noted in the link above. These were tested, applied but not able to be set successfully. It is possible that the issue is related to not having the headlamp "Auto" capability..

So for now I'll stand down. Perhaps I'll try a different dealer or wait to see what others have experienced when there is more time.

LMK is the only sales code that applies to the Journey (known internally as JC in Chryslerspeak) It has been unavailable to me to add for well over a year now, probably closer to two years. If you provide the last eight digits of your VIN to me I will be happy to double check. The Auto headlamp option has no bearing on DRL capability. Auto headlamps require a sales code all their own.

i would use the tow hitch.  the roof mounted cargo carriers are terrible for fuel economy

Good point. Our college trip is only an hour of highway driving and the rest is rural, so it doesn't matter so much to us, but for longer drives I could see where it could be a factor.
