I have been watching 11journeybama, because he and I were so close. We were neck in neck. I PM'd him, to let him know I was onto his game: he was on the forum Liking posts until he couldn't Like any more, just to keep up with me, but wasn't posting. I asked him to come back, because I missed his humor. He never replied and now I am ahead of him, but nowhere near you 2!

I would have raised hell with them. It is indeed a heat shield from the exhaust. A melted spare tire from the exhaust doesn't really do any good when you need it . Go back and make them put that crap back on! There should be a heat shield on both sides of the spare tire (if you have the V6 dual exhaust).

Set the trailer level and measure to the top of the tongue. Next, measure the receiver height on your DJ. Using the 2 measurements you should be able to figure out the rise/drop you need for your ball mount.

I'd say it's time for some plastidip! Mine are slightly starting to do this too, probably from greasy fingers touching it all the time.

Correct, it doesn't chime until you close the door after getting out. If you get out of the vehicle and leave the door cracked open, it will never chime. It waits to sense the door closed first.

I would not personally waste hours of my day to have the dealer replace $1 worth of washer hose. I just do it myself...but that's just me!

Yay! The hose was disconnected! Great idea to have one of us in the car, pressing on the button and the other under the hood, watching the fluid dripping down. Kind of a chintzy hose. It wouldn't stay together. No threads, catch or other fastener. So we resorted to tape for now. Wonder what made it fall off. You'd think with 1500 miles in town driving and no potholes, it wouldn't be an issue, but who knows. The hose does seem a bit short where it meets. Thanks again for the help and quick response!

If you can hear the pump running then a hose came disconnected somewhere. I've had two little issues with mine, first the passenger side nozzle broke so it was spraying fluid all inside the engine bay. I super glued that to fix it. Later on, the stiff plastic hose broke on the driver side. Slipped a little rubber hose over the broken connections to get it running again.

Man, there comes a point when you just need to replace the brakes on your own with your own cash. It's only a few hundred bucks for some good quality rotors/pads. STOP USING THE CRAPPY OEM BRAKES!!
My plan is to just replace the front rotors/pads soon with wagners. Why continue to waste your time at the dealer using crappy oem parts? Even if it is covered under warranty, wasting 4-6hours at the dealer each visit would cost me more in work hours missed than just replacing them with my own parts that will last years. That's my opinion on the matter at least.

What year DJ do you have? What years does this cover? My step-daughter's Olds Intrigue has the same problem. She took all of her keys off of her key ring. The car may do this up to 16 times a trip around town. All she does is turn the ignition switch back to on. I told her to get it fixed - it will be free. She is 21 and doesn't seem to care. So, to me, no big deal!
This is a huge recall for all manufacturers. Your dealer may have the parts on back order, due to demand. Go ahead and support Government Motors. You tax dollars have already bought it out. Their F-in stock is a joke, and all they produce is junk. Take Buick, for example. The Enclave and Lacross are US designs. The rest of the Buicks are Opels which would have been the next new Saturns. Slap a Buick grill on one and raise the price a couple of thousand dollars. What a joke. There is a sucker born everyday. The Encore is a Korean car made in Korea. No need to say anymore on this.
Dodge now has Alfa chassis DNA to work with (Dart). The Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli already use 300/Charger chassis (Mercedes E Class) parts and when Mercedes still owned Chrysler, the latest Grand Cherokee and M Series were developed at the same time. So, the GC and M are blood brothers! Maserati is already using Ferrari engines. The Pentastar can be brought up to Ferrari standards. In a few years, Chrysler's blood will be flowing with classic European DNA, and you want to switch to GM? Go for it, fool. GM closed down Holden, so no more SS. Cadillac sales are down. Chrysler sales are up for the 64th (if I remember correctly) straight month. What does that tell you? Dodge can sell a DJ in Europe, but GM can't seem to sell Chevys there. Again, what does that tell you? There are so many uninformed, unread people in this country. Very sad.

Wow, such a ridiculous outburst over such a minor problem (if even at all). Take your freaking keys off the chain and the problem is solved. People choose the most minor things to explode over.
That's why I love the quote, "Good morning America, what are we going to be offended by today?!"

Oh, and the V6 is a MUST in my opinion. Gets practically the same mpg (we get 26-28 on the highway), yet has way more power and can tow a decent amount when needed.

Many of the problems were in the past years (growing pains for undersized brakes, clunky transmission, etc). There's very few major problem children out there though...seems to be a very dependable vehicle for most. 2015 vehicles seem to be very good so far...much bigger brakes the last few years, and a lot fewer clunky transmission complaints. The clunky transmission on my 2012 is just a nuisance...it isn't hurting anything, just louder than some are used to. We have 93k miles on our 2012 DJ and have loved every bit of it. The only issue we had was a recall to replace the cylinder head right after we bought it. That and replacing the undersized brakes every 40k miles (but that's only a few hundred bucks). Other that, pretty much problem free. And it's really hard to find a similar bang for the buck value. You can't even come close to the ~$25k price for a new vehicle with all the features and seating for 7. You'd pay $10k more for the Toyota, Honda, etc comparison vehicle.
Just remember, the people that take the time to leave reviews online, are usually the small percentage with problems and they want to complain to the world. I ignore online vehicle reviews and complaint sites...nothing but trash information out there. Just use your own judgment.

I have a 2014 SXT, not the Crossroad, but it should be mostly the same. Is your wife's commute mostly highway? I would opt for the V6 as the mileage is comparable, but many people on here have the 4 banger and are plenty happy with it. I would get an extended warranty with all of the electronics in vehicles these days, but I would NOT say that these have any kind of terrible record with the electronics. There are some issues with the Nav stereos, but when compared to the number sold, the number of defects isn't really all that alarming. I love my journey...

It looks like they must be Champion, because that's the only brand plug with that part number. Can anybody confirm this?
Pep Boys has a killer deal on them right now, $7.50 a piece ($45 total). But you get 35% off online orders ($29 total). Then there's a Champion mail in rebate for $2.50 per plug. So $15 total for all 6 iridium plugs. Great deal if anyone needs plugs right now!

Yeah but there's no paint on the pinch welds??? I don't see any need to do this. Been using my jack stands and floor jack for 3 years and 93k miles without a problem scratching/denting on the DJ. To each their own though...

Good point, I'll probably go for the flush then . When doing google searches, many people do transmission fluid changes every 30-40k miles. Why the heck would they be doing it that often? Maybe that's a thing of the past (similar to 3k mile engine oil changes)?

Issues caused by flushes are in poorly maintained vehicles. People wait 150,000 miles to service their transmission, get it flushed causing all of that gunk to break loose and then bitch that the service broke their car. In reality, their laziness is what caused the issue.
I have used flushes many times in the past with ZERO issues. Take care of your car and it will take care of you.

I'm pretty sure he meant to mount the tires on a single set of wheels... So taking off the summer tires and replacing them with the winter tires. This would require quite a bit more work.
