I plan to tow a 5x8 trailer to hold our luggage for a road trip vacation. what is the recommended rise of the ball mount. Thanks for your help. Woah322 Posted August 20, 2015 Report Share Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) If anything you can always unscrew the ball, flip the hitch to give it a slight rise to compensate for the weight drop. I tow a 5x8, can't imagine how much luggage you got to need such a large trailer. Lobitz68 Posted August 20, 2015 Report Share Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) Set the trailer level and measure to the top of the tongue. Next, measure the receiver height on your DJ. Using the 2 measurements you should be able to figure out the rise/drop you need for your ball mount.
