Find another dealer, quickly! Factory mistake??? Jesus, they are just making shit up.
I always do my oil changes based on when the EVIC says it's time and it has almost always been around 5500 - 6000 kms, which is right in line with your 3500 miles.
No way in hell I would go 8000 miles (13000 kms) between oil changes, especially with the first oil change.

The base tire on the Canada Value Package is 225/70R16. As long as you get the proper OEM steel wheels, clearance will not be an issue and this will be the least expensive option for winter tires and is what I did for my 2011 Crew with 19" tires.

Yup. Too many people just cannot take responsibility for their own actions or use common sense!

Every vehicle I have owned with a compass has only ever showed the direction you are travelling. I don't see what you find confusing about this. N means you are driving north, etc. Pretty obvious.

    DodgCACares,
drozz has a 2011 Crew like me. I confirmed with Chrysler long ago that the 2011's do not have voice command of music playback. I was told that the necessary hardware was not in the 2011's and this functionality only started working with the 2012's. The real piss-off in all this is that the owner's manual lists all of the commands for controlling music playback but NONE of them work.

Wow, that's terrible. I am very fortunate to deal with a great dealership and I haven't had any service related problems ever with them. I haven't had nearly as many issues as you but how the service is handled really does make a huge difference. I hope you have better luck with your next dealership as your current one seems pretty incompetent.

drb227 reacted to bmanta in Navigation screen inside sunglasses holder
I'm obsessing over this because I don't have a built in navigation with my 8.4" uconnect and I hate cluttering up my dash or air vents with screens that is really not meant to be there.
ok I had this idea of placing a navigation screen or some sort into the sunglasses holder, it is actually a great spot for it and it can be tucked away when you're not using it.
I took a photo with my iphone (with bumper case) and it fits in between the groove nicely, I think if I stick some a rubber seal for the top part of the phone to rest on it would stop it from ever falling out.
anyway i though it look pretty slick and neat little trick for the Journey.
Now if you're crazy enough you can take this a step further and somehow neatly trim the Sunglass holder and remove the conversation mirror and the foam padding so you can stick on a proper Navigation unit like the TomTom with the suction cup and you can adjust the angle of the screen.
The only problem then is to add power to the Navigation screen... (I don't know what is possible, I'm not an electrician)
maybe steal it from the lighting wiring that is already there.
or run a really long USB cable
or don't bother and just recharge the unit when it is low on battery.

Would love to hear anyone thoughs on this.

drb227 got a reaction from nabeez in Canadian owners with 19" wheels
You should look for 17" winter tires on steel rims. Much more selection and easy to swap in the spring and fall. The 17" size for the Journey is 225/65-17. Steel rims need to be OEM or there will be clearance issues with the front calipers.
I went with 16" steel rims and winter tires for my 2011 Crew but I'm not sure if your 2012 Crew has the new, larger brakes that we've been hearing about. It seems that the larger brakes may be too big for 16" rims to fit.

drb227 got a reaction from Psyke in 2011 Dodge Journey Pentastar fuel economy
I did another long road trip a week ago. It was approximately 1400 kms one way.
I filled up just before leaving home and really took my time to slowly fill it full. It is a real pain that I have to do that to get the tank completely full. Some gas pumps don't let the gas out slow enough to be able to fill the tank. In some cases, I cannot get the needle to the F no matter how slow I try to fill it. Luckily, the gas station I use most of the time has pumps that can be run fairly slowly to allow me to fill the tank. Anyway, back on topic.
On the first tank, I set the cruise at 110 kph because I wanted to see how driving at that speed would affect the gas mileage. I didn't stop to fill up until 911 kms had passed!! The EVIC said I still had just under 100 kms to go on that tank. If I had really pushed it, I possibly could have gone 1000 kms on that tank!
Needless to say, I am extremely happy and impressed with the gas mileage of the 3.6L Pentastar V6!
The only concerning part was when I filled up that first tank after 911 kms. I put 77.28 litres in the tank!! It is supposed to be a 78 litre tank. That means 1 of three things - a) I was almost completely out of gas and the EVIC was wrong, b ) the gas pump was wrong and I didn't actually put 77.28 litres in the tank, c) the tank is bigger than 78 litres.
I freakin' love the power this engine has when passing on hills and down-shifting manually!

No offense to your wife but it really bugs me that people leave their vehicles idle for extended periods of time.
I rarely let my Journey run for more than 15-20 seconds after starting before I take off. I frequently turn it off at lights if it's going to be more than a 30 second wait. Any time I have to stop and wait anywhere, I always turn it off. Better for the environment and better for the pocketbook!

There is no question that something is very wrong. Don't let the dealer tell you otherwise! Call Chrysler if you have to.

drb227 got a reaction from UN4GTBL in First Impressions of my White 2011 Crew
Have had my white 2011 Crew for almost 2 days now. It has the Nav and Sound Group I and the Flexible Seating group. Previous to this I had a well equipped 2007 Caliber SXT .
The seats are very comfortable and the front seats heat up very fast, much faster than the Caliber. The adjustable power lumbar allowed me to find the perfect spot for comfortable support. There is a decent amount of adjustability (fore/aft and recline) to the second row seats. Very easy to get the second row seats to flip forward for access to the third row. The third row seats are fine for kids if the second row seats are moved up a bit. I personally wouldn't want to sit back there for any length of time but I knew that before I bought the Journey. I got the third row for the occasional times when we need the space for 6 or 7 people. Most of the time, the third row seats will be folded down.
When the third row seats are up, there is still enough cargo space for me to put fit my laptop bag and other items. I was concerned that it may not be deep enough. When the third row is folded, cargo space is plenty for my needs.
The dash and instrument cluster are really sharp. The glove box is tiny but that is somewhat made up for with the under seat front passenger storage, storage bin under the radio, two little cubbies on either side of the storage bin and the deep front console. The cup holders hold a large double double very well!
Everything is well lit at night. There are tiny lights below the front door armrests to illuminate where the bottle holder spot is and there are puddle lamps at the bottom of the front doors. Even the USB and auxiliary ports in the centre console are illuminated. There is plenty of interior overhead lighting when entering the vehicle in the dark.
The 8.4" touchscreen is really nice. Very responsive and quick. Very easy to read. Does tend to get washed out in bright sunlight. I do find that the navigation voice is not very loud and it doesn't turn the volume down low enough on the audio currently playing so that you can clearly hear the navigation instructions. The voice command options are somewhat limited as well. Surprised that there are no voice commands for the nav. Also, I have not been successful at all trying to change songs while my iPhone is connected via USB or when I'm using an SD card with my music on it. Every time I try a command like "play the artist ..." or "play the song ...", it never works. It does work to change the source, so that if I'm listening to FM radio and I want to switch to satellite or ipod, I can speak the command and it has worked every time. Hopefully future firmware updates will address some of the issues and maybe add new commands. You can control MUCH more by voice with the MyFordTouch system.
Have only put about 200 kms on the Journey so far and the gas mileage is around 15 L/100km. Not too surprising given that the engine is green and most of my driving is not on the highway and the temperature is below zero right now. No doubt it will improve as the engine gets broken in. The transmission sure does like to upshift quickly, no doubt for the sake of improved fuel economy. By the time I'm at 40 km/h, it is already in 4th gear. It is also reluctant to downshift unless you really put your foot into it, also no doubt in an effort to help the gas mileage. You need to push the pedal about half way down to really get the transmission to downshift. Just something to be aware of when you need to accelerate quickly!
While driving, the interior is fairly quiet. Very easy to get up to illegal highway speeds if you are not paying attention. The Journey is deceptively quick at accelerating!
Overall, I am extremely happy with my Journey, even though it has only been 2 days.
Will post pictures in the next few days.
