On mine it was the camera, not the wiring.
Replaced it with the ones you buy from AliExpress. Different angle but better resolution.

I'm not a great mechanic or anything close. But the North American Ones are fitted with what they call "Performance Suspension" on the RT trim for example.
I would try to find the equivalent for the same year as yours. On mine and compared to some I drove in Portugal there's an obvious diference with a lot less body roll and less sinking when braking.
Keep in mind that for that size, weight, year and being American... It's not a Xantia or a C5...

    FINAL UPDATE!!!

After new cables received, which I didn't use at all, and will be returning to them this happened:
3 weeks ago while driving, the left steering EVIC buttons stopped working. Worst, the phone button was the only working when I would press the right arrow . Then came back to normal hours later.
I decided to order new EVIC buttons and Cruise control as well... Changed them. Guessed?
    The problem is gone permanently!

So to all who read this. The ENG-Custom kit is great and i had a lemon that was the EVIC buttons.

And of course it turned out to be the wires going into the vehicle from the hatch.  Clean cut thru all 3 - camera signal, camera return and bare wire. Fixed and enjoying seeing backwards again

Miguel Pereira reacted to Johnson in 4.3s to 8.4 Uconnect and Backup Camera installed
Well, I finally upgraded my 2014 SXT. I took out the 4.3s and installed the RE2 receiver, the 8.4" screen, the new bezel, and the lower stack. I also installed the factory backup camera as well. The receiver, screen, lower stack, and bezel were pretty straightforward and easy to install. '14 Charger receiver, '13 Journey screen, '14 Journey bezel, and '11? I think, lower stack. I included some pictures below of some things I hadn't seen others include as far as how to remove the trim and whatnot. My wife and I really enjoy the upgrade, makes the interior feel much less "base package" and more complete. I, like others, haven't fixed the temperature controls on the screen but I haven't given up yet. I've talked with guys from my dealer and realized they're not going to be much help as this is the first radio they have even unlocked. Thanks to this forum I had more information than they did. I've talked with Uconnect who did not have info for me, and talked with Dodge corporate and they referred me to a larger dealer in the area but I haven't gotten a hold of them yet.
I played with the controls and found that when I "sync" the temps, the front and back hvac behave as one. That's nice as we have small kids in the back. If the knobs in the back are turned then the sync is broken and the rear acts independently. It also seems that even though the sliders on the climate screen maintain the nefarious "22 degrees" mark, if you slide them up or down it seems to lock that temperature in even though the slider moves back to the middle a few seconds later. The satellite radio still worked fine, so the free subscription apparently didn't get kicked back.
The dealer charged me for 1 hour labor for the combined unlock code and flashing the backup camera. Like I said above, this was the first one they've done. I had all the info they needed (even though they didn't know they needed it) thanks to this forum.
I bought the backup camera from the dealer (they were able to have it the next day). It came with detailed instructions that, at times, were not completely accurate as it was written in 2011. It was pretty involved to install - let's say it's not for the faint of heart. I took some pictures of that process that I've included below as well. You really do have to remove quite a bit of trim and one of the rear seats (If you have the third row). It's definitely doable if you're handy though, and I learned a lot about the car while doing it. I fished the wires a couple of times so that is one thing I would recommend if you're planning on doing it. My wife and I REALLY enjoy having it. The blind spot behind the car is especially bad without the camera if you have a car seat in the third row.
I couldn't figure out how to insert larger pictures....

    Hey John:
Factory console USB still works and plays. Pictures attached.
If you don't have factory camera, this system has the RCA plug and the wiring. Additionally has in both cases extra video inputs for front camera and aftermarket parking sensors.

    Hello:

A lot of updates! I'll keep posting as get more experience...
Unit arrived. Is a newer generation that allows wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Installation was pretty straight forward, although I had and should investigate the microphone setup. I'll explain further down. Connection to backup camera is already done through the cable - there's more options for extra cameras or after market.  All you need is to press the back button to change between Uconnect and the Interface. It DOESN"T need any mod to the screen. you just plug the screen "LVDS" to the cable supplied.

Hi, I’ll also answer this in English so everyone can understand:

If you look closely at the picture, the original wires stay in place and you simple stick the connectors of the wires from the module into the gap above them… This way, both wires connect to the same contact!

I wish ENG-Custom had just included these instructions in the manual so I wouldn’t have had to risk breaking the airbag in the driver side console connecting the extra mic!

My DJ isn't awd, so all i can do is very soft off-road. Its a shame, but here in Portugal if you want to have an awd, you will have to be prepared to pay as much as double the price for tolls, insurance, etc. It was out of reach for my budget. But even so, comparing with my nissan qashqai, which is a brand new car, my dodge is far better! It doesn't loose in comfort, performance and interior space, it just loses in fuel economy.

That was in Arganil, they only had like a small fire nearby. Serra da Estrela fire was after i arrived to Almada.
Yes, i'm a regular costumer of PKE, all my diesel cars were tuned by them, but on this one i went and tried a local shop... so... lets say that its like going to Tijuana for a nose job (ofcourse it went wrong!)
But luckly a managed to properly correct it and its finally ok. in a month or so, i will go to PKE and test it on the Dyno just to make sure, but, at least from what i'm used too, it feels pretty good. You feel the power increase smoothly and constant.
Originally my DJ was doing 11-12 l/100 km, in city roads, now its 7,3 l/100 km. On Highways with a constant 120 km/hour is doing 5,9 l/100 km when in the past the best i could do was 7,3 l/100 km.
Top speed didn't increase, but it wasn't something that i was too worried about, since right now you have police radars all over Portugal roads and you really can't try your luck like in the past.

Hi Guys, been away for a while finally enjoying my DJ

EBC brakes and pads made a huge difference in safety, and after tweeking the ECU for the 4th time i think we finally managed to get a proper ratio on that hellish german engine!

I also went on vacations with the family and tried it out for real (country roads in "Serra da Estrela"and Arganil, even one of the most famous Rally roads in Portugal), and Boy, did he behave lke a champ!

Good milleage, and lots and lots of fun!!

I took it into Canadian Tire and they told me there's nothing wrong with the struts (which is what I suspected). They were also charging a lot less, at around $1,400 CAD.

It was actually in there for the appointment so they didn't need to do the work and I thank them for their honesty.

    Hi all,

Like on every car i own, i already did dome work on my DJ.

My DJ is the 2.0 crd 140  hp from 2009 with 19'' wheels. it has already 169000 km(around 105000 miles), and in need of some TLC. So, to make sure that i wouldn't have any surprise i changed:

    - Timing belt and water pump and thermostat - Done
    - Engine, brake and gearbox Fluids - Done
    - All filters (oil, fuel, air and cockpit) - Done
    - AC recharged - Done
    - Clutch - complete kit with Dual mass Flywheel - Done
    - ECU Remap to 180 hp and 400Nm - Done
    - EBC brakes Turbo Groove with Yellowstuff pads (ordered and waiting patiently....)

I thought about swapping the OE system to 330 mm brakes in the front and 328mm at the back, but the price that they charge for the needed parts here in Portugal is insane!! - hopefully with this EBC brake system, it will be enough to upgrade the OE system.

In your opinion, what type of Suspension upgrade would be  ideal to use on the DJ? i don't want to lift or lower the suspension, but ideally i would like to get better handling and safety.

No. That image is with the trunk closed.
At the bottom you have the Bumper lip, pavement, cement marriers. The background is a brick wall, the dark edges are the corners of the camera/plate lights trim.

    Hi all,

I'm João Pita from Portugal. For years and years i looked at Dodge Journeys and salivated but never had the chance to buy one... Finally it was time!

Although Dodge is no longer represented in Portugal, which i may say... its a shame! We have his brother the Fiat Freemont, so i don't think that i will have an hard time regarding parts.

I've been reading a few of your forum threads and i have to say, it has been really helpfull, i hope that in the future i can be of help to.

I was thinking about purchasing one but I wanted to know if it actually works and if it’s worth the $450 CAD for it. Appreciate any help in advance!
