  1. Thanks for your insights, it's good to hear from a person who has had real time experience with it, rather than online info. I have to wonder why all the mechanics I phoned didn't offer to do that even though they seemed hesitant of digging further (hence my having to go to a specialist). When the light came on the last time I took it into my local mechanic to use his scanner on it (in case mine was not working right), and again they didn't offer that as a possibility but maybe they were toon tunnel vision wondering about the transmission fluid *pressure*
  2. 28,000 miles (45, 000 kilometers)
  3. I know I replied to this before but I don't see the reply here, sorry! Yes, 3.6 ...6 cyl 45,000 km/28,000 mi I could find no way to check the transmission fluid myself and from research I did online it said that it's not accessible (?)... And something along the lines that it's nowadays a closed system and should not need to be accessed (?) It's about a year and a half since I first had the problem and took it into the specialist and they looked it over. I assume they checked the fluid, but I don't remember details now
  4. PS: I wasn't able to edit, but I should add that the car runs like a dream.
  5. (DJ 2014) This first came on my Dash a year 1-1/2 ago. On my code reader it comes up as "transmission fluid level low". That started the nightmare of trying to find somebody who could address it. All the mechanics in this fairly big city advertise that they do transmission, but when you ask them they don't. Finally found a specialist who took a look at it and said they could not find anything wrong. Cleared the code. Like clockwork, every 6 months it comes back on. Assuming it's a hiccup, we've just cleared it every 6 months. That's a couple of times now. Do I really need to take it back to the transmission specialist? Is this a common problem on the Journey that check engine/codes pop up for no good reason? Thanks!
  6. Hi there, I have a DJ 2014 SXT. Now that I've got the vehicle fully loaded with camping gear, I can't find the lower/floor vents for the second and third rows (I can see the ones in the ceiling, of course). I checked the manual, but it doesn't address this and I didn't see a schematic. Couldn't find anything online. A friend suggested there might be one at the back of the console, but there isn't. Thanks!
  7. Thanks!! Mine's an SXT, too. That's too bad.
  8. I should have said in the title that it's the first row passenger seat, and I'm unable to edit. In searching online they just kept referring to it as "the passenger seat" so I figured that that's the appropriate lingo. It's only the first row passenger seat I'm wondering about, all others work fine.
  9. I should have clarified in the title that it's the first row passenger seat, but in searching online they just kept referring to it as "the passenger seat". The manual says it does fold and shows a phots (and other years or models have the hard work surface wi/coffee cup indent on the back - they fold flat to allow use of the hard surface for papers, or for the second row passenger to use it as a footrest (according to what I found online). As an aside, as for those other rows, I find that everything folds flat, no problem.
  10. Title says it all. Any reason this might be? I was checking today it to see how far forward it would flip because I need the additional interior length - at some point early when I got it a few years ago, I tried flipping it and noticed it didn't go completely flat. Not really a surprise, but I bemoaned not having the feature of my previous vehicle that only folded flat, but had a hard back = work surface. So, I know that this one folded at one time. Today I could get it to recline and then back upright to pretty much 90-degrees. It wouldn't go past that. The manual says it should fold flat. There's no distinction between models of the 2014, it should work.
  11. I took it into Canadian Tire and they told me there's nothing wrong with the struts (which is what I suspected). They were also charging a lot less, at around $1,400 CAD. It was actually in there for the appointment so they didn't need to do the work and I thank them for their honesty.
  12. I know the question is a few years old now, but this point keeps coming up in camping forums, how to get out the back hatch if necessary. I researched it a while back and now I’m doing it again and it occurs to me that although the solutions seemed great, just turn that little white plastic piece… But really, that only *unlocks* the door, right? It doesn’t actually pop the opening mechanism?
  13. I was wondering if anyone in the Vancouver/Fraser Valley region has any thoughts on what I should be paying for this. My mechanic said the front left strut is leaking and both fronts will have to be replaced. Normally I trust these people, but since I knew nothing about it I looked it up, and any of the telltale signs of problems, I’m just not having with my vehicle (Dodge Journey 2014; 49k km/30k mi). Some people are telling me to just wait until it acts up. The mechanics are quoting $2000 CAD (1400-1500 USD), parts and labour (and taxes in, if I recall correctly). Does that sound like a reasonable quote? As an aside, my decision whether to go ahead and repair it is complicated by my thinking of switching to another vehicle, and I know from past experience, the dealership will give me peanuts as a trade-in. Not happy about putting $2000 into it when I know the dealership won’t be giving me anything near that (even though it’s a great vehicle). But, that aside, I’m wondering mainly about the fairness of the quote. Thanks!
  14. When I was recently adding windshield washer and was starting to lower the hood support. it popped free of its fittings. I can’t make out where it was positioned originally (except for the clip at the very front, which isn’t helping). I keep coming back to try and fix it, but it’s a puzzle, and now my puzzler hurts! I’ve tried doing a web search but no luck. If you have any thoughts on a video or other online instruction, or if you’re able to post a photo of what end should go where, I would really appreciate it. ? Being in the middle of C 19 right now, I’m hoping to avoid having to go to the mechanics garage. Thanks! Dodge Journey 2014
  15. thank you yes, I got my information from the manual. I wanted to see if anyone could give me confirmation from a real-life experience (I know from Reading other threads, some people don't put a lot of faith in the manuals).
