    Hello DJ Forum,

Greetings from a fellow DJ owner. Should have joined sooner but better late then never.

My Dodge Journey is a 2010 3.5L AWD SXT in Silver. My faithful Journey has a total currently of 208,000 miles on the odometer and keeps going on the original engine and transmission. I follow all maintenance schedules and everything has stayed in great working order with the exception of a few things. I've had to replace the typical items like tires,2 sets of spark plugs now, 1 pair of outer tie rods, all 4 shocks, brakes - A lot before mechanic noticed the brake hose to both front calipers was being squeezed down by the metal bracket that holds it. Apparently it rusted/swelled up and was restricting back flow keeping the brake pistons pressed down. Dodge replaced a leaking and failing transfer case/PTU under warranty in 2015 when it had 159,000 miles on it. Sentry key sense module went out causing the mysterious no start issue(Often misdiagnosed as starter/battery) randomly around 170,000 Miles $600. Just recently the rear differential/carrier started making noise and clunking at 202,000 miles $600 for a used replacement installed. Heater core clogged up and had to be back-flushed a few times, issue was no heat on passenger side.

I love my DJ and all the space in features. I'm saddened to see some people bashing theirs or having bad experiences with parts that fail prematurely. Mine is a GEM and proof that if you take care of things it will be a investment that will take you on many.....Journey's :D

Yup the 4-cyl is extremely underpowered and it is more stress on that little engine for such a large vehicle. The way I always saw it is think of a little guy pulling a large mass sure it can do it but how long, versus a larger guy pulling the same large mass. If possible try to trade it in for the 6-cylinder model you won't be disappointed and 1 mpg difference from your 4-cylinder model.

Yeah I hear you there are a large verity of 4 cylinder crossover type of vehicles out there that are way better than the 4 cylinder model Journey especially mpg wise.

Yep, we lived with the 4 cylinder for 3-1/2 years. It did it's job. We just came to understand it's limitations in the performance department. Never left us stranded though. I always get a chuckle out of people who decide AFTER the purchase that the engine is underpowered and start complaining about it. That's what test drives are for....lol...

We got the 3.6 now. Will never go back. Good luck with yours!

Sounds like your head gasket blew unfortunately, do a compression test or get one done to be sure. After decide whether it's worth you doing the job yourself or paying someone to do it.

The following sequence of events must occur within sixty (60) seconds of the ignition switch being placed in the On position in order for the programming to be completed successfully.
1.With the ignition switch in any position except On or Start, buckle the driver side front seat belt.
2.Turn the ignition switch to the On position and wait for the seatbelt indicator reminder function to conclude (about six seconds).
3.Unbuckle and buckle the driver side front seat belt three or more times, ending with the belt buckled.
4.Turn the ignition switch to any position except On or Start to toggle the BeltAlert feature from its current setting (from active to inactive, or from inactive to active). A single chime tone will provide an audible confirmation that the programming sequence has been successfully completed

I haven't had this issue on my Dodge Journey, but the exact same symptoms on my G35 as you described. The cause was a failing  camshaft sensor Replaced and problem solved

Eduardo831 got a reaction from 2late4u in What is that SMELL?
If you can handle the white vinegar smell for a couple of days spray that in the car it will completely eliminate the smell. My son peed on his mattress (made of memory foam so no springs) once it smelled horrible sprayed some white vinegar mixed with water had it air dry outside for 2 days smell was completely gone. But yes you will need to spray on the source.

Mpg difference was 1mpg haha. But throttle response is definitely there worth 200 definitely a no. Reasons is the intake it self had imperfections like one of the ends is a little jagged looking inside the tube it looked like they used an older pipe. The air temp sensor wasn't cut all the way around. And finally I used different intake clamps the ones included were too big. If the intake tube was 100 dollars then I would say it's worth it

Here is my new MEGAN RACING exhaust. They make the best sounding systems period! Believe me, I have had many cars and tried many combinations. Sporty, throaty, and sounds like it should. I paid $220 for the hardware and $150 for the install. ENJOY!

Oh and btw, the Avenger 3.6L K&N Typhoon cold air intake is a direct fit. K&N does not state that it will fit at all, I know for a fact it does, I have one.
