  1. I'm having mixed feelings on this... if only due to the name change. I didn't like the first Pacifica, but they sold everyone they made. Styling looks pretty nice on this one, at least from the side view. Haven't seen the rear, so can't comment. The Pentastar engine rocks, as we all know from the one in our DJ's. I hope the fuel economy continues to improve. I owned 3, the last was an '07 and that was always my biggest complaint. A family vehicle and it got such crappy fuel economy. And, one the new one, it looks like the roof slopes down a bit at the back, which might mean that there is lower ceiling height and a smaller opening. Not good for moving stuff, which these things really shine at. Hopefully it will shine and everyone will love it. 4,999 of my fellow employees are depending on it.
  2. Hot, cold....doesn't much matter IMHO. Oil will expand a bit when hot, but it's only 4.5L, so not going to make a huge difference, Wait 5-10 min, as Ohare-Fred indicated to allow the oil to drain back into the crankcase and then check it. As for the dipstick, I think this is a Chrysler thing. Lots of broken dipsticks on the Mini-van forum (3.3L,3.8L). If it's difficult to remove, don't twist it around in a circle to get it out. Gentle twisting, maybe 1/8" turn each way should be enough to get it out.
  3. A bit late to the party here... Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and got to spend time with friends and family. Have a happy New Years.
  4. I had issues with my sunroof as well. When I went thru the car wash, water would enter at the rear of the sunroof. Not a lot, but enough, since there should not be any. 2 trip to the dealer for adjustment and it was taken care of. Take it in... it's under warranty.
  5. I've heard it said that you can ALWAYS pick out the ones with 4wd as they are the ones furthest from the road.. I too have never purchased snow tires. My FWD vehicles(#7 now) have always performed flawlessly in the snow, and I don't expect any less out of the DJ. It truly is the driver in a lot of cases IMHO. If one uses common sense, you normally won't have a problem. We've had one rear wheel drive vehicle recently, a Dodge Charger, that was absolutely horrible on wet or snow covered road. A great car otherwise, but I don't think snow tires would have helped this one in the winter. And we also have a Dodge Nitro 4WD that absolutely shines in deep snow. @bramfrank I enjoyed the story about the 4wd getting stuck. I have a neighbor like that. He has a Nitro 4wd and got stuck in the snow next to his house. He said "I had to stop. My motor was starting to overheat" He did the same thing... put it in 4wd and floored it. By the time he was done, he had dug down and, since he melted the snow, when he stopped it froze again so he was now stuck on ice. I let him dig for 30 min and when he still couldn't get out, I put some kitty litter under his wheels and drove it out for him.
  6. '15 Limited w/7 pass. seating As problems go, this is relatively minor and as soon as Christmas is out of the way I am going to get it into the dealer. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. The bottom of the middle seats are both supposed to flip up and the whole seat slide forward to allow easy access to the rear seats. One of mine does not move at all. The larger one, the passenger side, slides forward and back, and flips up as it's designed. The smaller one, behind the drivers seat, does not slide at all. Not a big issue... had it almost 8 months and this is the first time I've used it.
  7. Hi and welcome. Good choice on the Journey.... you won't regret it.
  8. You "recently" purchased this? How "recent"? A "recent" purchase should not be making noise when the brakes are applied, especially considering it would have had to pass an mechanical safety test in Ontario. The battery is a non-issue, normal maintenance. As you said, it's 6 years old... it's had a good life. The cables can be cleaned, or have new ends installed.. not a real big problem. The brakes are normal maintenance as well, altho, again, I question them going bad so quickly after the safety inspection. As for the website about the complaints about the Journey, I wouldn't pay it too much mind. Pretty much the only people that you hear from are those few that have had problems. The majority, that have little or no issues, never say anything.
  9. Hi Jason, and welcome. Yes, it is very possible. My granddaughter listens to movies, wife and I listen to whatever we want. Very easy to do, unfortunately I can't tell you how without being in the DJ and doing it..... sorry. Only used the DVD a couple of times so still have to feel my way along.
  10. YOU SHOULD REALLY TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK SO YOU STOP YELLING AT PEOPLE. A common leak problem with sunroofs is the drain tubes. They get plugged with leaves and other debris and are unable to drain off the water. Not sure on the DJ as I've not looked at mine, but I think they are at the front corners and run down the A-pillars.
  11. Finally got into the dealer to have them look at this. August was too busy for me. Another "it ain't broke, so we can't fix it" situation... which was what I expected as it never did throw a code of any kind. A very occasional and intermittent thing, so probably just my imagination.
  12. Welcome back!! Mopar rules. I don't think you will regret your purchase.
  13. It could also be dirty contacts in the non working remote. Not too difficult to disassemble and clean. Use cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol.
  14. Changing the components from one key fob to another is very simple. Remove the back, take out the parts you need to transfer, and put them in the new case. As for the metal key, as far as I know, NO, it is not transferable. You would have to take the old key, along with the new one, to a locksmith and have them cut the new key for you. Just a thought on the other, non-working fob... have you changed the battery in it? 6 years is approaching the life of the battery I would think.
  15. Yeah, you just WAIT until next week!!
  16. I still have the free year active in my DJ and they've already called in an effort to get me to subscribe for another year. Told them to call back when it's close to expiring and I will make up my mind then. It's nice, but not really sure I want to subscribe. I'm close to Detroit,MI and there are all kinds of stations in this area. Plus the SD card, and the USB recognizing an external HD, not sure it's necessary. My neighbor got the call from them and she said "well, we only really listen to one station. Can you make me a deal for one channel?" $25/year. Didn't think to ask her if that was for ALL channels or just for the one she likes....
  17. Yeah buddy!! Half, 1/4, 1/8.... I am NOT a greedy person...
  18. Yeah? Went thru that a couple months back... supposed to have free Sirius for a period of time. Called them to inquire how... they were about as helpful as a screen door in the pressure hull of a submarine. I couldn't pick anything up on SWMBO's Nitro. "leave it on" they said... "we broadcast the channels every X minutes (hours?)" Needless to say, it didn't work. Twits!!
  19. How do you propose winning the Lotto Max when I already have the winning ticket?
  20. I saw this on the internet, so it just HAS to be true..... Right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahum5cvLyXM#t=96
  21. wow, didn't realize how "well traveled" I've become... Dayton air museum twice, 2 days each time. I'm still not sure I've seen everything. Armstrong Air and Space museum twice.... still thinking about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but the jury is still out on that. Greektown as well. Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum several times as well. Not much into Football.... now, if it was Hockey we might be interested.
  22. Ok, coming down to the wire here... anyone got any other suggestions here? Central or Western PA? Eastern or Central Ohio?
