Dee got a reaction from dhh3 in Hi Everyone. New to the Forum and considering the 2015 Dodge Journey. Advice?
    Hi DodgeMD,
Not sure what your budget is, but check insurance rates. All of the vehicles I put thru my insurance (Kia, Chevy, Nissan, Toyota, Honda), came up lower than what I'm paying for the DJ. Never thought to run the DJ vin with insurance, just figured it was a cheaper vehicle, and therefore would be cheaper on insurance. Even when I dropped my insurance roadside (big mistake) I still pay more for the DJ in insurance. Might be the poor crash test ratings? My MPG is no where near 16, in fact my EnvoyXUV got 20-22 city, the Hummer2 I'm driving now gets no less than 20mpg city. Rt5 is going to eat gas with all those lights, yes, I'm local to you. My next vehicle will have a loaner agreement, I don't think Waldorf Dodge does that? Jones Junction, which is further out will meet you 25 miles out, do a loaner swap and let you on your way. Beats being without a car when you need service.
BTW, not sure exactly what you're looking at a far as model, but those DJ's have been on Waldorf lot since December when I was buying. I just looked at Criswell DJ's and they're better priced, and you may get another rebate that they hadn't added. Their SE's are regular 29K going for 21 and some change. AWD/V6.

With all due respect, hair colour really has nothing to do with it, if you are trying to be funny, you sadly failed. It just shows your arrogance, insensitivity as well as stupidity.
Maybe she bought it used and didn't have a choice when it came to a warranty. That happens and she would have no control over it. You don't know that, So don't denigrate her maybe try to help her, after all your Journey is only a year old and maybe we'll hear you complaining in the future.
The Journey is not without it's problems, ask anyone who has had premature brake wear, burst power steering lines etc. and several other problems that people here have experienced.
Krista was wrong with her dispariging remarks about Dodge and could have said them in a better way but I understand her frustration and lack of support from either Dodge or her dealer.

Well, that tops my insane things happening in a car. I moved years ago and had taken the telephone with me, old push button phone, wrapped the cord around it, put it in the back seat, 2 houses away from home phone rings twice. My friend and I looked and each other and we swore we'd never tell anyone.
I did a search; "My car started by itself and I don't have remote starter" and it seems this has been happening to other cars. Some good advice out here on what to check for.

I can't believe anyone would think being able to play a DVD on the front screen while driving is a great idea. There's too many distracted drivers as there is. If you want to watch a movie in your Journey sit in the back with the kids, do the rest of us a favor and let someone else drive!

    DTSGUY,
A car drive is pretty miserable when you don't enjoy the ride. I've been their too.....when I bought my Civic when I got married the love for it faded pretty fast and I got rid of it after a couple of years to get the CR-V which was a pleasure to drive and own. Lasted for 10 years until it was stolen which was fortunate for my wife and I who decided on replacing it with the Journey and we absolutely love it.

I know that my answer here isn't going to be a popular one but I was never fully happy with my Journey. When I purchased it I was in a hurry and I didn't do my research on them. I purchased it in June of 2013 and at that time I didn't even know that the newer ones had a much better motor and the interior was MUCH BETTER than the 2010. After a while I didn't like the way it shifted and it didn't have enough power for me. Also I have 2 teenaged kids and one 12 year old so I found that its a little tight for us. Im not saying that its a bad vehicle by any means but its just not for me. I LOVE the way they look though. I hope no ones takes this as me bashing on Journeys cause thats not what I'm trying to do at all. Who knows maybe in 2018 after the turbo model has been out for a couple years and one of my kids have gone on their own, I might get a new one but for now I have to stick with my new Acadia.

Nice truck DTS, you'll see why I fell in love with my Envoy XUV soon enough. Thank you for your responses to my posts, it was nice meeting you on here. Stop by and tell us how you're doing from time-to-time.
@redtom, I had a 93, 4 door Blazer for 10 years, Country Conversion, nothing fell off but a few flakes off the conversion paint?
And my 2004 Envoy ran like a champ, just GMC wouldn't fix things that were supposed to be fixed, and then I got to sick to care. 2009 I went to the Sears outlet and bought a 42" Craftsman rider, had them load it on the truck, open the roof, close the gate, and I had a new rider. The bed was large enough for a queen size mattress.

On my SE it's steel and plastic hubs. I started to look at other SEs still out there and I'm noticing the base price on a 2015 is 200 more on some than others? 25,395 and 25,595, online stickers are all over the map..oh well, all is good. Dee reacted to Marius in Rotors might be gone, but check the pictures
So here is a little update of what's going on...
Comprehensive inspection has been done and these are the results: Rotors are shut, front rotors have a .004" runout, to those with more technical knowledge apparently this is beyond severe and what's acceptable. Rear rotors same.
Now, there's a good new and a bad news, good news is that I found a Dodge dealership that is amazing, they've been thorough, professional ...all that one could ask for. Bad news is that corporate doesn't give a S***! I just got off the phone with them and their position is that they're not covering anything because I am out of warranty. So, whenever you have an issue, if you don't exacerbate the issue BEFORE the warranty runs out, apparently this is it, nothing gets done.
I've brought it up to the girl's attention that it's been signaled since under 10000 km and it's been an ongoing issue, her position was imovable, she refused to transfer me to a supervisor, she said Chrysler's decision is final. Well, I can't say I don't love my car, because I do. I cannot say I won't ever buy a car from them, because I know I will. But what I can say is that if lawsuit is what they want, lawsuit is what they will get. To be honest, I would have been satisfied with new rotors, the tires and the extra expenses I had covered. I guess in their imesurable wisdom, covering for lawyer fees and a new car is less than this.
OKied dokie, I'll have another check up done to a 3rd party professional site for an in depth look at whatever "else" we might find, then it's off to the lawyer's.

Dee reacted to dhh3 in Trailer Hitch Time ...
Before buying the ball mount, you need to have your hitch in place and then measure if you need a 2" rise, or 2" drop, etc. You need to have your DJ and trailer on a flat, level surface, and you need a level to determine how the trailer sits. Then measure the distance between the center of the square hole in the hitch to the ground and the inside of the ball on your trailer to the ground. This will determine if you need a rise or drop with the ball mount.
I see trailers all the time where the trailer hitch is either too high or too low. Makes for bad handling.
When I'm ready for a hitch, I am going to let my Dealer do the installation so I can use the built in trailer anti sway electronics.

Steel wheels need hub caps (normally). Aluminum wheels are styled without the need for hub caps. Steel wheels with hubcaps are usually found on the base models of any vehicle.Steel is cheaper than aluminum. The higher you go up in trim level results in higher quality aluminum wheels. Right up to the much sought after plastic chrome clad aluminum wheels. As to which is better? Personal preference. Steel rusts, aluminum corrodes. Aluminum is lighter though.

Horror stories; that's the nature of the beast. Normally for every 20 complaints you'll get one person saying all happy things. That's the way it is even in retail I'm not sure how the guys deal with issues, as all cars have them, it's not the issue per say, it's how they deal with it. Do they ignore it? Fix it? Respond at all? So far the last car I really considered, they're ignoring people with transmission troubles, and I mean a lot of vehicles. With Dodge I had seen where issues aren't being ignored, anything from simple navigation concerns to bigger issues. So with me, service, responsiveness trumps anything that may happen with the vehicle.
BTW, did you get the tow package? If you did, and you're going to park on the street like that, get a tow ball and keep people off your back bumper. I know I know, I have a bit of a mean streak too....

I looked at Garmins at Target today, any of the sizes will do. Lifetime updates, I'll spring for Phantom Alert, and maybe get the beanbag accessory? I don't use a phone enough to warrant a fancy phone. If you call and I miss you, because I'm not glued to the phone, I may call back in 3 days. My brother offered me an iPhone years ago, even was going to put me on his plan. nahhh I'm too old for someone to be paying my way, let alone who knows when I'd be without service. My car salesman said he pays $300 a month, he's got his mom on his plan, and not sure if he said anyone else, my head couldn't stop spinning, that's INSANE! I actually have 2 cheap phones, one number has no voice mail, the other one does, made it easy when car shopping, dealers got the non-voice mail one, and I still don't spend $300 a year on 2 cheapies.

No, they targeted CarMax because CarMax puts in writing their 100 and something safety point check, along with all their vehicles are safe to drive. I actually thought that CarMax was a step above a regular dealership, shame on me, but I'd expect to live by "this vehicle wasn't ever in an accident" when in fact not only in an accident, but deemed unsafe to drive. Well, it doesn't affect me, I'm not buying used, I just need to make sure my new vehicles have never been tilted or worse, salvaged due to a flood or something.

There are 8 styles of wheels for the DJ. The flex seat option indicates that it is a 7 seater.
Popular Equipment: heated front seats and steering wheel, security alarm, remote start, Universal Garage Door Opener, and automatic head lights.
I wish that I had gotten that option. I do have 7 seats.

Mine has a Touring Suspension. On my build sheet, under optional equipment, springs are listed. So maybe I have stiffer springs (?). If it has dual exhaust, then it is a V6. The DJ performs a lot better with the V6. But, the members with the 4 cylinder seem to be comfortable with it, and it will deliver better gas mileage.
This is my first FWD car in over 20 years. In that time period, I always drove 4x4s. So, this winter will prove to be interesting.
I started a thread on this subject: FWD vs AWD. I was assured I would be fine. I'll update that thread with what I find out. I did put new tires on it, and under SNOW they are rated BETTER. Time will tell.
Good luck with your test drive tomorrow. If you notice anything, ask us before you decide to buy it. There are many members more familiar with the DJ than I am. I've only had mine for 5 months!
Oh, and take pictures. These guys seem to love pictures!
