1. When I took in my grand caravan in for the same issue you're having, and they kept it for a week and a half, they provided rental reimbursement. Just call the Chrysler customer #, and ask them for a loaner, they'll tell you they don't do that, and probably offer you the reimbursement option.
2. Just so you don't think I'm being a nanny. http://www.skippystalin.com/2012-dodge-journey-grill-guards/
3. Forgive me for my input, but push bars do nothing to "protect" your car. All they do is enlarge the dimensions of your car, put you 1 foot closer to impact, and the bars going under your car, are not as strong as most people assume. So if you get hit, the push bar is going to hit everything behind it. Example, a small car hits you enough to push it back, you're grill, your hood, and your headlights are going to get pushed in. Instead or just your plastic bumper. To each his own. If you like the look, go right ahead, but don't expect the protection that they seem to offer.
4. The uConnect does not read or send text message over iPhone.
5. I also like the trailer hitch bike racks, but I don't have a trailer hitch, and I would also need another for our caravan. So that's out of the question. I thought about the roof mounted racks, but my wife thinks well hit something. (lots of low bridges in lower Westchester) I actually found a guy selling a set of 2 for 80$. I'm more concern with the back door being able to hold the weight of 2 bikes hanging in the back. I like that spider looking bike rack. I can't complaint though, I got mine for 30$ new.
6. Woow! 1k$ for a brake job??? That's about 800$ too much! The day I need to do my rotors, I think I'm going to do the '13+ brake upgrade.
7. Hey guys. I just bought a bike rack http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000ELUXFC/ref=redir_mdp_mobile The thing is, on their "fits" list, neither the DJ or Grand caravan are checked off. I tested it over the weekend, and it does fit. But I remembered that when I did the back up cam install, I found out the rear hatch is made if fiberglass. All of it. Anyways, have any of you used a similar bike rack, or does anyone know if it's something I shouldn't even try to do? Last thing I need are my 2 bikes falling off in the middle of the highway. Along with the rear hatch. Funny thing also, it also fits the caravan, and I have used that style bike rack on it before, no problem, but the hatch isn't made of fiberglass either. It's not huge problem cause we normally use the caravan for family outings, but I'd like to know for sure.
8. In the US, SXT models have sat radio standard. Which is satelite capable.. Like someone else said, maybe you're not getting the free year as its a fleet car.
9. The bumper to bumper warranty does cover these type of problems. The extended warranty is an extended bumper to bumper warranty.
10. Then I guess my grand caravan is a truck. Lol It's primary duty is utility work vehicle. A GL, or a G wagon, are both trucks. But have you ever seen a GLK in person? It's far from truck. A Honda CR-V is more truck like. Eith way, I personally don't consider the DJ a truck. It's a family orientated suv. We love it as is.
11. Btw, it's not a truck. That would be like calling a Mercedes GLK a truck.
12. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="redtomatoman" data-cid="28524" data-time="1369100774">
<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="bramfrank" data-cid="28515" data-time="1369070136">

I call it a truck. My insurance company calls it a truck. A truck is not defined by what covers the cargo area and lots of pickups are more luxurious than the DJ.

If you can name one "truck" that comes with carpet in the cargo area, then I'll concede. To me, the DJ is a CUV which is a car. The DJ is based on the avenger platform. Anyway. . . Rams, Silverados, f-150s are trucks no matter how nice their stereo systems may be.

Peace.

Lincoln blackwood. Carpeted bed standard $ 50k f150
13. I'm not a towing owner, don't plan to either. But if I was looking to tow anything over 2000lbs, I'd buy something else. I wouldn't try to convince myself or others that it can tow much more. Like other people said, the journey RT has the same structure as the journey AVP, and that's a 19,000$ car. This is not a truck lady's and gentleman.
14. Btw, there's no anchors in the back row, you're going to need to use the seat belt and locking clip for the a 5 point car seat.
15. I thought about doing the same thing you're trying to do. Wife didn't let me.. I got 3 car seats in the car without removing any of the seats. 1 high back booster, and a front facing convertible seat in the 3rd row, and the baby carrier behind the pass seat. The seat behind the driver is folded down all the time. Best solution without removing the seats
16. Same here. There's a bunch of "dust spot rust" on both my DJ, and grand caravan. Interesting enough, they are both same color. I'll be polishing and waxing the DJ soon. Seems like the paint job on both isn't the greatest.
17. Sorry. I can't offer much help. Not familiar eith the 3.5s. I can suggest looking at the 300c and charger forums. Those cars had the 3.5s for a longer length of time. Maybe you'll get more info there.
18. I had read somewhere that the DJ is going to use the Dart platform (stretched) so I would assume the DJ is going to shrink some. I doubt I'll be a repeat customer.
19. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="webslave" data-cid="28192" data-time="1367413619">

Really? I'm not doubting you, but, I was under the impression that it was standard on the Journeys... Is it only "standard" on the '13's? I didn't think it was an option, like the bins in the floor in the middle row, I thought all Journeys came with it...?

As of 2012, it was part of a package that includes the driver power seat, and the remote start.
20. You need part# 05064538AF - RB5 radio head unit module. The 8.4 screen is just the interface. As long as your DJ has sat radio, you have the gps antenna pre wired.
21. Have you thought about getting your windows tinted. The AVP model is tintless from the factory. That'll help a lot with the sun. Another thing you can do is get window vent visors. Theres clear and smoked color. I bought a set of 4 for around 50$ online. Easy to install, and your son can crack his window with little disturbance to the rest of you. Trading in a year old car is going to hit your wallet like a sledge hammer.
22. If at any point before, the voice command worked fine, disconnect the battery lead to reset the hands free module. Has to be like an hour. We were having the same issue, I unplugged the car for other reason, and I've noticed that it works fine again. There is also a TSB for updating the hands free module firmware. If the reset doesn't work, call the dealer.
23. So it's 833$ for digital tv? !! You can buy a car DTV receiver for 90$ on eBay, and a drop down monitor for another 150 w/ DVD. And the DVD in motion for 200$ eith the lockpick. I guess you pay for the convenience of a single box instead of 3. How many channels available in digital in Brazil? Around here not that many over the air.
24. The after market is s no go. Theres many limitations to swapping out the DJs radio. For one, there's no existing trim adaptor to replace the 4.3 screen bezel. You can't delete the screen as it controls numerous vehicle functions (a/c, vehicle settings, etc.) Besides, the screen bezel is not strong enought to hold a 2 DIN radio. They are relatively heavy. The space behind the screen is also not structured to hold anything in any one place besides the screen bezel. The actual radio is mounted behind the A/C knobs below. Then there's the harness adaptors / interface (none listed on crutch field) so you'd loose steering wheel buttons. Now there is 1 aftermarket option. There's a member on here that has it. It's the Chinese clone of the uConnect. I have a second generation of the Chinese mygig on my GC. Has lots of features!, and evey one of them has it's flaws that go from annoying to meh.. 8'' 2012 Fiat Leap/ Freemont Car DVD,GPS,BT,Ipod,Radio,TV,PIP,RDS,SWC I don't expect this radio to be any different, and it cost 600-700$ When I added the 8.4 to our 4.3, I spent around 550$ before I added back up cam. That's about what it would cost if you source 2nd hand parts. I'd stick to 2012 parts also as the 2013 has anti theft features that can give u a headache. Read thru the posts, the topic has been covered very well. Let me ask you, what features DO you want, and how much do you want to spend?
