  1. No. It switches upwards to the next available frequency. RDS is seperate of it.
  2. When ever it happens, put the car in neutral or jiggle the shifter. That'll tell you which direction to go. My van is starting to act up too.
  3. Fo real! I can open my caravans windows but not close... A real over fight in my opinion.
  4. A visit to the dealer.. OR you can reset the TIPM. Unplug the red lead to the battery for 30 mins to an Hr
  5. This problem affected lots of 2011 3.6s Luckily, yours fell with in the warranty period. I wonder what would've been the dealers reaction to this, outside of warranty coverage..
  6. The reason is that in Europe, is offered with smaller power trains, and with a manual. Which of course, requires the hand e breaks for up hill starts.
  7. You're better off running it up above the headliner. You can use a wire coat hanger to pass it from the rear to the 3rd row lights, 2nd row lights and so on...
  8. You'd also need to duplicate all of the supporting wiring to the handle and PCM. X2
  9. The radio on my grand caravan a feature "auto frequency" It changes the station on its own if it becomes weak. AF, I can turn it off. Never seen that on the DJ (8.4) but I also haven't looked for it either. Is it possible that the radio is looking for stronger signals? Which direction does the tuner go? Up, down, or random?
  10. No. The AC issue is here to stay. From the dealer tech (who spent a good amount of time on it, until the serv manager got mad at him 😡) The issue is that the climate control module on non auto AC is not compatible with the 8.4 climate controls. I've also read on the charger forums, that dodge knows about the issue from people who've bought the nav upgrade from mopar. That's people who are spending 1,700$ on the upgrade, but don't have the auto AC on their cars. Dodge isn't doing anything about it, or atleast not yet. I've looked at the part#s from the part manual, and can't find a different part # for AC modules. I'm thinking that the problem lies within the TIPM. I got it to do what I initially want it to do (back up cam). So my wife just deals with the AC "inconvenience" Honestly it isn't that much of a big deal. Everything else works fine.
  11. Dodge should make the rear can standard on the DJ, atleast on the SE and up. The 4.3 can handle the video input.
  12. Best thing you can do, is take it to the dealer no later than the next day. This way, they can read what the PCM has stored from when it stalled. Ic you take it after 4 start and drive cycles, they won't be able to rear the errors. (That's what a mech at the dealer told me)
  13. The only way to really the difference is to get behind the wheel and test both. On the on ramp to the interstate, floor them, then you'll know the difference. I think without the AWD, thd v6 should average around 20mpg in the streets of Florida.
  14. 350 just for the install right? How much for it complete?
  15. As long it's just at idle, you should be ok. I drove my grand crvn like that for about 6 months while the dealer I was dealing with, gave me the run around. Just keep an eye on the engine light. If it starts flashing, you have to stop.
  16. We love our DJ. Same story here. Needed 3rd row ASAP. Our baby girl has her own row, and the boys as far away from mom as possible. Lol Unfortunately, I find it a little cramped, for 3 car seats. We're already wondering what we're going to switch to in 2 years.. Well see how things shape up once my oldest comes off the booster, and the baby girl faces fwd.
  17. There's a kit that lets you add GPS and a back up cam to the 4.3 uConnect (you keep the same screen and radio) But it cost 1,700 and I'm not sure if you need to have the GPS antenna built in. It's not the lockpick. The lockpick is only for the 8.4 radios, and only adds back up cam, video in, and a bunch of camera in features. We went with the 8.4 w/ lockpick route, and spent less than 800$. I did everything myself.
  18. Keep something else in mind. You had said you were interested in adding the 8.4 w/nav. The SXT and above trims are pre wired for GPS, while the lesser models aren't. Reason is that the SXT standard satellite radio brings along the GPS antenna. Again, if you're REALLY interested in doing the 8.4 uConnect upgrade, I'd look for an SXT with the popular equipment pckg. Has the auto climate which is fully compatible with the 8.4. I know I'm only adding to the expenses for you, but those are the issues you're going to run into if you do the upgrade later on. Good luck.

  20. I can see your point of view in trying to look out for yourself. A 2 hr drive is a 2 hr drive. But you need to be realistic about this. A dealer is t obligated to a free on an offer over email. That eliminates their ground for negotiation. You get there, and don't like the car, so now you ask a bigger discount. Besides. Dealer emails are probably answered by someone who probably doesn't sell cars. Maybe the front desk secretary. All they are trying to do, I get you to come in. All dealers are in the same business, and that's to sell you a car. It really isn't their concern how long you need to drive to get there. Good luck on your hunt.
  21. Adding the 8.4 screen plus back up cam should run around 800-1000 w/out nav if you get second hand parts. (Doing the work yourself) There's also a known issue with no resolution in sight with adding the 8.4 screen. Your climate control w/out auto isn't completely compatible with the 8.4 wich is an auto climate control. I'd go for a mid '12 to a '13 if I'd were you. There's known issues with the breakes from earlier years. We haven't had any brake problems with our but, we're putting about 6k miles a year on ours. If you're going to be driving it a lot, it's best to go with the new brakes. Btw, the bigger brakes only come on the AWD models or RT.
