  1. Congratulations. The journey is a very nice car. Good luck with it.
  2. @psyke Yes, totally. The point of impact would really nail you to the cross. UNLESS!! You can prove that the impacted vehicle suddenly and abruptly merge into your path. Which this video would serve to prove that the van did. Drive defensively and you'll likely avoid most idiots on the road. But you can't slow down traffic in your lane to let everyone merge into it. You're then causing the cars behind you to slow down or even hit you if they're not paying attention. I've been looking into putting a dash cam in my car, and I would permenently run the cables thru the roof down to the dash, which I can't go with my iPod cable (too short). This way I could mount the cam really high on the windshield where it's not obvious, in the event I forget it in the car.
  3. Your creation is actually nice. Except for the pirate flag logo. Lol. But yeah, it's more than adequate.
  4. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=350565875400 This dealer has been selling these since I've been looking for the rb5 radio. Contact them and see if they can get u the journey face plate. I personally don't want to pay that much, but if you got it... They prolly know more about this than anyone here. Try them, and let us know. Good luck!!
  5. Lots of negativity.. Lots of "don't do it'" on this thread. Ok, there is a kit you can buy. This dealer sells it on eBay for around 1.5k. If you have the 4.3s, then you're pre wired for sat and Bluetooth. Or you scout eBay for the rb5 radio. You need the bottom faceplate with radio (radio sits behind AC controls). The difference is the SD card slot. And the screen WITH the dash face plate (bezels) as the 8.4 screen won't fit the 4.3. Not sure if you'll need dealer activation of features.. If you want back up cam, you'll need the c8 lock pick. YOU CAN DO IT!!! I actually lost an auction for the entire 8.4 radio on eBay. Went for 475$. What a steal!! Lost it with 10 seconds to spare. Oh one more thing, you won't gain auto climate as you don't have the hardware required.
  6. Hahaha. Tilt the seats back all the way, no one will see anything behind the seats. Lol. Your best bet would be to make something yourself.
  7. The RT has different exhaust?? Is the same engine across the trims, same power levels.. All 3.6s have the dual pipes. What's different?
  8. @psyke No, not true. Just because you signal, doesn't give you the right of way to jump into another lane with flowing traffic in it. The person IN the lane has right of way to slow down and allow the merge or simply go about his way. Key word is right of way. The white van had to WAIT till the coast is clear and THEN merge. Clearly he didn't. The white van has to yield to the traffic in the left lane. Had the journey accelerated to keep the merge from happening, had the journey been speeding unreasonably to cause a missjudgement from the white can, THEN he'd be at fault. Not this scenario. And you can buy a dash mounted camera from eBay that records HD for around 35$ plus shipping. I wouldn't risk leaving my phone in the car and having an opportunist snatch it, that and I wouldn't want that charging cable running down the middle of the windshield.
  9. The mopar foot well light kit is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. No where near worth what it cost. I searched it a year ago for my grand caravan. I said F#[* THAT!! Get on eBay, get yourself a self stick on led strip. Choose your color, and tap into the cup holder lights. Should cost u no more than 25$. Are they cheap? Yeah.. Will they break? Maybe, but you'll out less than 25$, and u can buy again and still be 200$ under the mopar price.
  10. The lights shut off after about 10 minutes on their own. Doesn't anywhere best kill your batteries. Leave them on.
  11. Lowoski. Now you're just whinning. Don't know how many tunnels you're driving by overthrere. The last car that I owned with auto headlights was a 96 Buick riviera. LOVED IT! The sensitivity was adjustable between 3sec and 45sec. Too sensative is bad as you drive thru underpasses. You start flashing lights. Too sensative, or quick to turn on would turn your lights on when you drive by a big tree. The reason why u can't circulate and defrost is because the air is circulated thru the windshield vents. Never had a car that wasn't like that. Look up last gen Altima reviews. One of the biggest complaints upon release was the engine start button. It was in fact set up to turn on the engine at first push with the brakes. So most people would have to turn on the engine, and shut it off to get acc. Most people as they enter the car, step on the brake as well.
  12. Try .. eBay.co.uk look for totalled freemonts.
  13. Where do YOU buy brakes from?? Ever been to pep boys? Autozone? Their best brake pads top out around 60$ the set. WITH the lifetime guarantee. Only the dealer has the balls to charge that high for brakes.
  14. Take it straight to the dealer when it happens. Don't clear anything. Drive it just like that if possible? Or call for a flat bed. Don't shut it off.
  15. Oh and another thing that adds to the inconsistency from dodge. The fleet power drivers seat option on the 11 caravan was 478$. That same option became 159$ for the 12s. Guess who was upset a couple of months ago when he found that out. 😱
  16. I'm on lewoski's side. Having an auto up with key feature would've been nice. I also know that the 08-11 caravans had all front up/down feature, but not the 12s. The key auto feature also removed on 12 caravans. I work with 14 tech, we all drive caravans. I was very dissapointed when I tried it on my wife's DJ. Back to the topic.. On my caravan, I have to hit the "unlock" button 3 times fast, hold on the 3rd, and voila! Weird thing, the manual says 2 times only. Try that.
  17. 😔 My 12 SXT AWD has the smaller brakes. I really hope the brake issue doesn't show it's face around here.
  18. No. You're not doing anything wrong. I have a grand caravan that does the same. Seems that systems that have iPod connectivity always prefers the library in your iPhone that music apps. It's annoying cause my car would play the same stupid song everything I connected the iPhone. My solution was to remove all music from my iPhone library. Now pandora works OK. Still can't fwd songs from the radio though. Not my caravan, not my wife's journey. But her old sonata with a eBay nav radio could. Lol.
  19. Well.. You can hang your keys on the key hook you can install by your front door. Lol.
  20. I have a tip. Get bigger gauge jumper cables. Likely the set you have, can't handle the cranking amps. My wife's previous car had a cheap battery (im a cheap guy). If she didn't drive it for 4 days straight in winter, it wouldn't start. Couldn't figure out why jumping it took 20plus minutes. Tried better jumper cables, car would start in less than 2 minutes. Eventually got a better battery. Problem solved all together.
  21. I've walked up to my other car, expecting it to open, but it doesn't...😒
  22. The early pentastar 3.6s had a hidden problem. Multiple miss firing issue. Cause the car to go into limp mode. I know 3 people with those early 3.6 equipped caravans. We've all had our engines taken apart. Mine didn't go into limp mode, couldn't find idle on random days. It's not s caravan issue. It's a pentastar issue. Tons of Grand Cherokees had that issue. I say avoid cause its a Chrysler known issue, but most dealers are stomped by it. Don't know what to do and you'll end up with the usual "could not duplicate problem, car operational" Those become pissed off owners and will trade out. My grand caravan had 7 dealer visits b4 it was finally fixed. Multiple dealers involved. I was out of a car for a combined 1.5 months. About. Don't get me wrong. I love my GC, but it gave me a good 6 month headache.
  23. The '09s had brake wear issues. Like brakes and rotors every 10-15kmiles. Can be annoying. Go for a '10 with the 3.5, or a '12 with the 3.6. Avoid the '11. Again, the early 3.6s had misfiring issues. Major issues.
  24. Different things will impact the survivability of a crash. Seatbelts probably wouldn't save the front passenger, should've saved the rears. That range rover is around 1k lbs heavier, likely speeding (therefore carrying larger energy), and that was worse case scenario. The dreaded off center front impact. The farder off the center the impact is, the more intrusion there is. It's sad to see accidents like that, specially drunk driver accidents. I hope he gets the book thrown at him. Rot in jail.
  25. I believe that a washed key should still work. Maybe not remote unlock, but as the manual states. If your key battery dies, you place your key right up to the starter button and it should work. Washing it should only short the battery. The actual RFID transponder is sealed. It doesn't need power, the car just needs to sense it. Another thing, back in 2001, I had a 96 Buick riviera that the dealer wanted 150$ for replacement and programmed key. That was the GM pass 3 key. So in 2012, I'm not starstruck to see the journey has a 250$ key. Back in 2004, I also had a 01 Acura CL - S. key was 180$ programmed at the dealer. Point is.. Keys are expensive and have been ever since the late 90s even from the land Godzilla. Unless you count cheap civics, or Aveos.. Even a 2004 Nissan sentra has an immobilizer key.! And those were just the key, not including the remote control fob.
