What do you think, yet another one post wonder?

I changed transmission fluid at almost 100k miles. I just changed the plugs at 104k miles. And now the coolant at 105k miles. First time for each of those three. Basically just following the manual for each of those. The only one I might have done sooner would be plugs. I noticed a drastic mpg increase when I changed them (about 2-3 mpg). Those should have been changed out at about 75k miles or so.

Finally got around to doing this. I was only able to get about 6 quarts of fluid in after the change. That's just the capacity of the radiator, reservoir bottle, and hoses it seemed like. So over half the fluid you can't get it since it's stuck in the HVAC system. I drained it, then refilled with water. Let it warm up and circulate fluid, then drained again and refilled with fluid. When I refilled, I open the bleeder screw on the hose by the thermostat mount. I'm not too concerned with only changing out half the fluid. Fluid looked perfect coming out, at 105k miles of hot desert usage.
BTW, the radiator drain petcock is the worst ever. You loosen it completely, and it only pisses out a tiny stream, would take an hour to drain. So you have to loosen all the way and pull the whole valve out, making a huge mess all over yourself. But whatever, it's done now. The hardest part of the job was taking out the dozen bottom air dam panel fasteners without trying to break them!

Yeah f*** it. Just trade in the vehicle before it needs new plugs, lol!
Seriously though, this is my 11th vehicle I've ever owned. By far the WORST design to replace spark plugs on. I'm at 83k miles now and getting ready to replace the plugs in a few months. It looks a lot worse than it really will be. Should be able to knock it out in a couple hours.

I wouldn't consider the tie rod clunk to be unsafe in any manner. I have a very slight clunk when going over speedbumps. Have had it for probably 50k miles or so. It's so slight that I have to have the windows open to hear it.
I don't want to deal with dealer visits just over a noise. It isn't hurting anything on the vehicle. But, I guess I'm not as picky as other people.

Yeah, it's 14.5 quarts, but there's no way I'll actually get that much in the system since probably half of it is in the lines and rear hvac unit. Just wondering if anyone has actually changed it and seen the quantity required.

Alright, I guess no one on here has done it yet. Anybody know how much fluid to use for the change? It isn't cheap from the dealer...don't want to waste it.

Exactly what dhh3 said. I spray white lithium grease on the hinge joints about twice a year...when the start making popping noises.

Either that or a flood? Maybe the interior/electronics was flooded. Can't really tell by the pics.

I just run them out and close the lid. I have not had a problem with the cables getting pinched or anything like that. I believe the lid does not rest on the edges, like there is a built in gap all the way around it just for that purpose. I have not looked closely to verify I just figured it was that way because even with the lid shut I can still move the wire.

Jkeaton is right - there is enough of a gap in the console lid/armrest to route your cable.

So I finally got around to changing my spark plugs at 100,500 miles. The job was much easier than anticipated, 2 hours methodically taking my time since I hadn't done it on this vehicle before. The plugs were definitely in need of replacement, couple of them had a decent amount of buildup around the electrodes. I'm sure I'll pick up a couple mpg's hopefully!
There was quite a bit of oil in the intake manifold running around. I cleaned it out the best I could. Should I be concerned about so much oil there? Does that mean there's a problem?
FYI, you only need the 6 upper intake manifold gaskets (the square ones). You don't pull the lower intake manifold off, so no need to replace the lower intake gaskets (roundish ones).

On the top of the bottom hinge is a pawl with dentents that hold the door open at specific intervals. This is where the noise will originate. Put some Lithium grease on the pawls. The detents are semi-circular.

Just thought I would update. The dealer dropped the pan and replaced the oil pump/gaskets/oil to correct the P06DA code. So far so good, no codes! Thank goodness it was covered by powertrain warranty!
They also dropped the transmission pan to change the fluid/filter. Both pans dropped in the same day .

Well, my P06DA code disappeared for about 3-4 months so I figured it had fixed itself. Now it's back with a vengeance doing the same shenanigans. I guess I'll have to suck it up and go to the dealer finally. I'm at 96k miles, so better get it done now before the powertrain warranty expires!
I HATE GOING TO THE DEALER!!!
