  1. Mom, I agree with Red. Did you get it to turn off using the dimmer?

  4. Dre, PM me your VIN and I will send you a build sheet.
  5. Yes, better to have documentation on Chrysler's end. No telling what actually may have happened but just in case.
  6. Tommy, I would contact the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center at 800-992-1997 and have the incident documented in case the poster above is correct. This way Chrysler has the incident on record for future reference.
  7. Ratorres, PM me your VIN and a copy of this post and I can locate the part number for you.
  8. They just came out with this TSB. Not sure if it would have cured your problem but I am posting it in case others are searching for information. 9. Blazzin, There are a couple of different software updates depending on what radio you have. Hopefully the dealer can reflash your unit and it will solve your problem. If not call the Customer Assistance Center and Chrysler will work to get the issue resolved. Numbers below. 800-992-1997 U.S. 800-465-2001 Canada
  10. Easy, Here is the technical description. The dealer would have to hook up their diagnostic tool to determine if you have the latest software update and if a newer version is available for your VIN. The instrument cluster contains the necessary hardware and software to serve as the vehicle electronic body control module and is commonly referred to as the Cab Compartment Node (CCN). The CCN utilizes integrated circuitry and information carried on the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus and the Local Interface Network (LIN) data bus, along with several hardwired analog and multiplexed inputs to monitor sensors and switches throughout the vehicle. The CCN also contains various indicators, analog gauges, and a standard blue-green digital Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) unit. The standard VFD is a fixed segment unit that displays odometer information, automatic transmission gear selector position (PRNDL), and several other indicators, some of which are model dependant.
  11. Easy, The only thing I could find that might be related is to make sure that the CCN (cab compartment node) has the lastest software update.
  12. Heero, If the light does not come on when first put in the run position then it needs to be checked. Of course a few seconds after starting the light should go out. See below for the owners manual explanation. The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is part of an onboard diagnostic system, called OBD, that monitors engine and automatic transmission control systems. The light will illuminate when the key is in the ON/RUN position, before engine start. If the bulb does not come on when turning the key from OFF to ON/RUN, have the condition checked promptly. Certain conditions, such as a loose or missing gas cap, poor fuel quality, etc., may illuminate the MIL after engine start. The vehicle should be serviced if the light stays on through several of your typical driving cycles. In most situations, the vehicle will drive normally and will not require towing.
  13. One, Congrats on the new vehicle. As far as oil changes go, I would not recommend going past the 8k even if you are using synthetic especially during the warranty period. I have a feeling that your oil change light will probably come on sooner than 8k though if you live in the desert.
  14. Niko, Have you talked to the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center regarding this issue? If you have not you should call them and get them involved to solve the issue. If you have already talked to them I would call them back and keep calling till they solve the issue.Numbers below. 800-992-1997 U.S. 800-465-2001 Canada
  15. Terry, It is not recommended that you use seat covers on your vehicle. The following is taken directly out of the owners manual: Do not use accessory seat covers or place objects between you and the side air bags; the performance could be adversely affected and/or objects could be pushed into you, causing serious injury.
  16. It is recommended NOT to remove the head restraints. Doing so could lead to an inadvertent airbag deployment which could result in serious injury or death.
  17. Caper, The panel referred to in the TSB was in it's first 6 months of production as the Journey had just came out at that time. It happens, and when the problem is identified they issue a TSB. Just hate to see the customer tear his door apart if it may not be necessary.
  18. Ed, If you take that square cover off you will see threads for an eye bolt to be screwed in there. A tow truck or similar vehicle would pull the vehicle out of a ditch or up on to a flatbed using a cable hooked to that eye bolt so they don't damage your front fascia by hooking the cable under the vehicle.
  19. Rick, Before you tear the door apart make sure that the lock plunger knob has enough clearance to move freely up and down in the hole that goes through the door panel. There was a service bulletin on this that I am posting below. Not sure if it applies to your vehicle but easy to check. NUMBER: 23-004-09 GROUP: Body DATE: March 4, 2009 SUBJECT: Doors Do Not Lock Or Unlock Properly When Using Power Door Lock System Or Remote Keyless Entry OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves modifying the door trim panel to assure the lock knob will not interfere with it. MODELS: 2009 (JC) Journey NOTE: This Bulletin applies to vehicles built before August 6, 2008 (MDH 0806XX). SYMPTOM/CONDITION: Some customers may experience difficulty locking or unlocking the doors when using the power door lock system or remote keyless entry transmitter. Mechanical interference between the lock knob & door trim panel may be preventing the keyless entry system form operating properly. 1. Open Door. 2. Ensure doors are unlocked. 3. Using your hand wiggle the lock knobs. 4. Does the interior lock knob have wiggle room in the door panel? a. Yes >> This Service Bulletin does not apply, Further diagnosis is required. b. No >> Proceed to Step #5 5. From inside the vehicle lock and unlock the door with the power door lock switch/FOBIK. Watch the lock knob and door panel as switch is being activated. 6. Was there any interference detected between the lock knob and door panel? a. No >> This Service Bulletin does not apply, Further diagnosis is required. b. Yes >> Proceed to Step #7 7. Remove door trim panel. Refer to the detailed removal and installation procedures available in DealerConnect> TechCONNECT under: Service info> Body> Door-Front/Rear> Panel, Door Trim> Removal. 8. Use the FOBIK to lock and unlock the doors. 9. If the locking assembly work's properly then the lock knob has been rubbing the Door Trim Panel. 10. Inspect the three ribs inside the lock knob hole and verify how they look compared to number two and three in. 11. Do the ribs match number two. a. Yes >> Continue the repair. b. No >> This Service Bulletin does not apply. 12. Adjust the ribs angle accordingly with a square body file NOTE: Only modify the bottom portion of the rib(s) keeping top portion square to avoid rattle sounds.
  20. Luv, The dealer should order the repair disk and perform the repair. The bottom of the TSB says, for all other customers that describe the condition. Either that or take it to another dealer if you have one in your area.
  21. Dee, Here is a copy of the K07 recall. Safety Recall K07 Front Door Wiring Harnesses 2009 (JC) Dodge Journey NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles built from November 01, 2007 through November 07, 2008 (MDH 110122 through 110723). The front door wiring harnesses on about 65,000 of the above vehicles may fatigue and break. Broken wires could interrupt the circuits for the side impact sensor(s) located inside the front doors. This could resulting in the illumination of the airbag warning lamp and loss of side crash sensing capability. The right and left front door wiring harnesses must be replaced.
  22. Red, I will post the official Chrysler fix/update when it becomes available. I assume the unofficial site that the person from Gracenotes supplied the link for did not help you out. As far as offering further suggestions on this issue, I will refrain from doing so until something is officially released since any speculative solutions that do not work only seem to making the matter worse. As far as the timeline for a fix, I cannot offer one. I have reported the problem that you and another poster have reported. Chrysler is constantly working on upgrades to any number of issues and it is unfortunate that that the one you seek is not available at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will post back when any new information becomes available.
  23. Red, The only suggestion I could get is listed below. If that does not help I will keep my eyes open for a fix and post it when it comes out. I printed the entire response. I would take his suggestion in the last sentence and try to re-name it VanHalen without the space. Let us know if it works. Hey Chris, I would definitely have him look at the data tags. Seeing how he got it from a friend, there's no telling where it actually came from. I have seen people with audio files from different locations that library the data strangely which does cause issues. Let me know what he finds out. You can sometimes go to the album in iTunes, right click and do a rename. He might want to try this.
