So the final on this is that the ion treatment worked.
i have since though sold the Journey due to the flood of other suspension issues encoutnered inthe short time of ownership and traded it on a new 2017 DGC Crew edition.

    Take care everyone.
Best of luck with your DJ's!

Well after almost 4 weeks of ownership we will be saying goodbye to the 2010 Journey we bought April 9th. the selling dealership was a local Honda.
It passed inspection but I think not by very much.

I revisited the dealership many time and with estimates to bring it back to factory spec but they kept hiding behind the fact that it passed inspection so they have no legal obligation to do anything more.

I found out that this Journey line has suspension issues and no matter how many times I fix this it will come back again.
    simply a poor design.
The total to replace all parts to new is close to $3000cdn and I am not prepared to live with this.
It is my first daily domestic driver in years and I was very disappointed with the reports.
I just didn't do my home work on this like I usually do. Shame on myself for that...
And i also lost all faith in this journey thanks to the dealer not wanting to work with me

In fact last evening i was driving behind another Journey and the rear tire on the driver side was deflecting back and forth as they turned the corner at a stop light.
Not sure how he didn't notice the lack of control going down the road.

So I have taken a big leap of faith last evening and signed on for a B/N Grand Caravan Crew Plus and added the max full Chrysler warranty to protect against issues.
The real kick here is the add on's after the fact of beating the dealer down for the base prices.
With financing required this if we let the full term run will set us back over $50,000cdn

This is by far hands down the most expensive purchase for transportation i have ever made in my life.
But again I have to show faith that we will be making a sound investment for hopefully many years of service with the Caravan.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

I've bought cars many times and most are good experiences but there is always the lemon in the bunch and in my 40+ years of buying cars I am now up to 3 bad experiences.
Once with a Ford Tempo, the second was a Mazda MPV and now this one.
I really like what the Journey has to offer with the SXT  model.

It really feels like they are in business to make the quick buck and not worry about the long term affects of their not taking care of the customer.

    We'll get it resolved...

Have your own mechanic trouble shoot and pinpoint the cause. Then go back to  the seller and either have them fix or pay.  The Journey is known to have some suspension noises.

But who can resist that black magic sweet cherry smell?  Must......Eat....Some....

That gel does work quite well and lasts for a while without any of it flinging off. Just like other have said it makes your tires really dirty. Just scrub the tire down before using it again. Other than that its a good product.

Come this monday morning my 2010 SXT goes in for a complete front end rebuild.
Although it passes inspection there is play in every piece and there has been an annoying clunk from the moment I move to the moment I stop.

Having only owned this for a few weeks now I had in the contract to purchase the dealer has been dragging its' butt on actually fixing the problem.

I have a big road trip planned soon and again from dragging their ass on this issue I am taking it to my trusted mechanic to rebuild the front end so I can be ready to go.
the dealer wants to piece meal this to remove the clunk with a one part at a time so they can live up to their end of the deal.
The estimated bill is just under $1700cdn all in.
The only thing that is giving me any comfort in this is that all parts & labour have a life time warranty

And yes I am planning to take action against the dealer for the cost of this since they are not living up to their end of the agreement.

I'll update the thread once it's done and report on the results.

After day 1 of de-stanking i am pleased so far with the only aroma left is the synthetic sweet smell that the dealership hosed the interior down with but it is about a 3 out of 10 on that aroma.
The rest is a very neutral pleasant aroma to the interior.

Updates to follow as the days pass.

welp Journey forums peeps, this will be my last post here.  Thanks all, I learned a lot especially in the early days of my Journey ownership (2011).

I liked my Journey so much (despite the warp-prone undersized front rotors) that I went to trade it in for a 2018 Journey.  I made the mistake of test driving a 2018 Durango while I was there, and was smitten.   I'll be using a different forum now.

Best to you all.  Hope you all enjoy your Journeys as much as I did mine.

Clay bar is a pain in the a$$ to use. It takes awhile.  I only use one when I can run my hand over the paint and feel roughness.

No problem Mr. Fix It,  I too am of the age where I grew up on the Imperial system. It was very strange to "relearn" the metric system. It was 1977 and I was in University studying to be an Architect. That was a real learning experience, was it a 2x4 or a 38x89 wood stud as an example. It's strange I have embraced the metric system yet I still say I'm 5' 10 and weigh 200 pounds, some things just don't change....... ;-)

You may find good results with the following items.

My wife's Explorer had a not so good scent coming from the vents after we bought it. Took it back to the dealership three times and they just sprayed a "scent" to mask the odor. I finally told her I'd take care of it. Bought a can of this and used just half of it and the smell was gone and has not returned. Did a little digging online and found out you don't really need to buy this product, you could just use Lysol or some such disinfectant. I went with this because Lysol makes me gag worse that roadkill, and the stuff I bought came with the handy dandy tube to stick into the vents to get down deep.

    If the smell is in the fabric, try this;

I hunt and try to reduce my human scent as much as possible. This stuff really does work. I use it all the time, not just for hunting. I keep a bottle in the car all year long. When filling up at the gas station you sometimes step in the previous persons gas spill. A few squirts of this and the smell is gone in no time. I spilled some liquid from some artificial fishing bait (Berkley Gulp for those that fish) on a pair of gloves and wanted to see if this could handle it. I had to spray it twice, but it did get rid of the scent (I know, I could have just washed them, but where's the fun in that?). There are tons of brands out there, you don't have to use this particular one. I buy it in bulk at the end of the season for next season and to give to members of my family that just need to get rid of a stinky odor. Just google scent elimination.

    Hope this helps.

As Bramfrank mentioned because you live in Ontario and have a Canadian Journey I'm not really sure why you would want the American system. Remember there is 2 non metric systems, Imperial and U.S. measurements. Your Journey, like mine has the American equivalents, so when your car reads 20 mpg US , it's actually 25 mpg (Imperial) in something you're more accustomed to. Remember the US system is different than the English Imperial System.
