Not really....Lots of people come on here and complain and bitch because they hate the Journey,Dodge and the world....Sarcasm is the only answer in some cases and lots never return even when help was being offered.... so refuse if you must but the Journey is not a bad vehicle and  you probably don't need the forum.
    Have a good day

Perhaps you can show some examples of this perceived lack of decorum.....yes, in the past we had a member or two who caused trouble. They are no longer here. Otherwise, maybe the internet is not for you.

Not sure what the OP is trying to say,  but he picks cars based upon forum congeniality?!?  Obviously the OP has no idea what he is talking about.  I direct anyone who wants to see real jackassery to Tacoma World.  Douchey...

Maybe the OP should sell his DJ and buy a used Buick LaSabre.  I'm sure the grammies and grampies there would be great forum company.  He could also join their bridge group...

    Peace.

Sarcasm and car forums unfortunately in my experience often go together. Probably because it’s mainly guys.

i just joined here after lurking a little bit. It seems more civilized than a lot of other car forums; you might be a little too sensitive IMO.

I was on a Elantra forum years ago called ElantraXD  run by a few 20 something fan boys. The sarcasm was hilarious if you weren’t on the receiving end of it. They were trying to control double posting and off topic rambling inside threads. It can be tricky to keep forums useful and functional at the same time; somebody has to be the sheriff if things don’t run right. There is not a lot of tools to work with. My two cents for what it’s worth.

Coming from the Neon and Jeep communities, I see nothing wrong with these forums. A little bit of sarcasm shouldn't upset anyone. Sounds like the internet just isn't this guy's place.

Over the years I have had cars from different manufacturer and always used the owner forums to help find answers.  I kinda wish I had looked at the Dodge Journey forum before I bought this car, because I would have picked something else. The Sarcastic remarks are foreign to me and totally uncalled for. If I am banned from the site, so be it but, the intention of an owners forum is to help people and not to criticize them or their grammar. After a day of reading I am disappointed with the comments. I expect better and refuse to accept this as the usual. Bad form guys, bad form.

I’d start by having the alternator tested even though it’s only a year old.  Did you get the correct size battery?  If you are having electrical issues you need to fix that, then see if you still get a mil light. Electronics in new cars are very likely to do bizarre things if the Voltage is off....

Hey there just decided to join the site. I have the joy/hate of looking after two Journeys in the extended family for two years now.

A 2012 2.4 owned from new and a used 2014 R/T Awd with the much more fun V6. Have owned/worked on quite a few different brands (yeah I’m real old) over the years. Like a good value play in the used car market, and there aren’t that many at a good price that hang together.

I’m a retired millwright mechanic on pension so I like to diy what ever I can.
Electrical always the bigger challenge than straight mechanical stuff.
Waaayyy too much complicated electronics on newer cars;  but when working right I’m happy to have them like everyone else.

Pretty much the general feeling about this car and towing summed up.
FCA Says don't do it, but there are people who've done it and it's not been an issue towing boats or trailers with their 2011+ v6's, especially with Aftermarket brake controllers.

The general consensus is that somewhere between 2010 and 2011, FCA nurfed the towing capacity from 3500 to 2500 probably due to some warrenty claim %.

Although, there could be legitimate safety issues with towing more than 2500lbs; (the 2011's had undersized brakes, which was an issue resolved in 2013+) maybe it's as simple as  Chrysler's old criteria for braking power was sufficient for  3500lbs, whereas the (newly merged) FCA's standards of braking distance and heat dissipation in the mountains might not have been met- so instead of an expensive engineering solution, they just dropped the towing rating in the user manual costing $0 to implement, and sweeping the issue under the rug once and for all. Rest assured, some bean-counter in Auburn Hills made a big bonus check on that decision.

Digressing more; You could argue that marketing wanted to 'nurf' the Journey to push Jeep sales. [conspiracy music ]

    Also; just for fun

After changing the tire, I placed the still inflated damaged tire inside the trunk.
After 4 hours, the tire exploded without warning making our ears ring.
probably caused by the increased air pressure from the cabin heat.

Me and wife in conversation, she is half way through a sentence. It is 7am.
Tire in the back seat: [Loudest single noise I've ever heard.]  --KABOOM!---
    Our ears:   ******rrriiiinnnnggggggg ..................
    Me: "Ore you OK?"
Wife: [silent, but Totally OK, but looks in shock]
Me: "Must have been the tire in the back...  Well, with the adrenaline I don't need Redbull anymore"
Wife: [checking her heart rate, still in shock]
Me: "Well looks like I don't need to use the bathroom anymore either"
Wife: [Snaps out of shock:] "WILL YOU SHUT UP!"

From your image of a cold climate, this is probably this is old news for you, but:
AWD, Snow tires will aid in your 'line of work', if by that you mean commuting around on un-plowed roads rural New York.

I've added a 2" hitch to mine. Specifically, it's for a bike rack, but It's nice to be pulled/pull others out of snowbanks by a real hard-point on the frame as opposed to the little tow-hook. It 'Won't' tow over the 2500 lbs limit, but who will stop you! (That's joke, because if you tow overweight, and the brakes fail, Who will stop you?)

Looks like you have an emergency light bar on the roof? depending on what your occupation is, maybe additional light strobes on the rear near the license plate/ under the grille in the front would both look cool and provide additional safety.

The V6 Dodge Journey is the Chrysler Pentastar engine, which is used in the Jeep Cherokee and in the Dodge Durango as well in slightly different versions but only minor differences is in HP, albeit with different transmissions. The Cherokee comes with a version for towing up to 7200 lbs, which includes among other things extra cooling and special shocks for the rear wheels. However, the regular towing specs are up to 4000 lbs, and I see no reason why the V6 Dodge Journey should not be able to pull 4000 lbs as well. The Uhaul hitch install services installs a 4000 hitch standard for the Dodge Journey V6, which I had done recently.
