Dusty256 got a reaction from dhh3 in Is the Dodge Journey oil filter really that special?
This is why I always change my own oil ...

Dusty256 got a reaction from dhh3 in 27 MPG at 77 MPH
Mine gets 29 -32 . My biggest drive is once a week 51 miles each to go go bowling (Texas is big and nothing is close by) 75 to 70 mph the whole way via interstate and toll roads....my only complaint is the truck really seems to be affect by the the big rigs , I get quite a bit of buffeting when behind them .
Around town short trips get 24 to 27 . Impressed with the mileage . My girl friend has a GMC Terrain same basic engine and it gets 23 at best . Not a smooth shifter either
Mine you can hardly tell its shifts unless you are watching the tach, the only time I feel it shift is coming to a stop and it drops down in to first ....

That's a lot to say is wrong with out doing a tear down . You would have noticed a lot of steam if it got hot enough to do all that .
Get another mechanic.. A lot to go wrong at the same time also . I have termostats cause a over heat but you cap should have blown off pressure . Surprised he did not say the water pump was bad also...
Raditor is a easy fix along with the tank . Replace that and the termostat

Car is shifting down from second to first and it's a hard shift some times.

You would think by now car makers would build a access to the fuel pump ...

Dusty256 got a reaction from dhh3 in 12 volt power fuse keeps blowing
At least it's not like the old fuses , fuse blows so just wrap the fuse in foil....then wonder why the wiring starts melting ....
Never ever put a bigger fuse in ...in fact the safest way to figure out is put a lower fuse rating as you keep replacing fuses.. Something in that DVD player is causing problems

Dusty256 got a reaction from Woah322 in Gas Tank
I find this strange , the first thing I would have done is to contact my insurance company . New car or sometimes you hit things (same reason you buy the road hazard warranty on tires ) . Never ever heard of a gas tank just popping open , a lot of testing goes in to gas tanks . The polyvinyl tanks are pretty tuff so you must have hit something with out knowing it .
gas gauge problem is most likely just a loose wire (happens). Just figure avg 20mpg and watch your odometer till you can bring it in .
If I was driving and heard a loud pop , com mom sense would tell me to pull over and see what caused it .

Switch to aftermarket good quality pads and rotors and you will have less problems.

Dusty256 got a reaction from dhh3 in New or old interior
That's strange , I was thinking the same thing , the insides reminds me a lot of my old Plymouth tourismo . Same color too so it's kind of comfy

Dusty256 got a reaction from dhh3 in Transmission when using the Brakes
Normal for this car and transmission , mine does it too. A rolling stop or just idling along in a parking lot makes it worse when it goes in to first gear.

You have to look at this way , if it's a 2009 most likely all the problems have been worked out . Brakes are a non issue they wear out and if you replace them with quality after market ones the will last. Down here we don't have to deal with rust . My 2009 se is at 130,000 miles and rides like a new truck.
I see lots of journeys running around and I really like the looks of the 2009 model year.
I would not pay to much attention to the complaint web sites , look up any model year of car on those sites and you will see every year make and model of car has problems
When I picked mine up it had 124,000 miles and the dealer had supposly done a full service on it . I ended up replacing the battery , front pads and rotors and also new plugs . Need to take it in for the key fob recall but all others have been done.
I would check to see if the recalls have been done , get a complete brake job and drive the thing .
