  1. I'm missing mine already. Just traded it in with 52000 miles. I got a Grand Cherokee because I use it to tow almost 3500 lbs all over. My Journey was an excellent vehicle. I just couldn't watch me kill it using it like I did.
  2. Welcome. I would clean the windshield. When cars are new, the dash plastic has some chemicals evaporate and it coats the glass with a white fog. Then I would replace the cabin filter just because. Congrats on your new ride!
  3. I might have some big news. I stopped by my local Autozone today to return my warranties wheel bearing. They were restocking the shelves in back because they now only carry calipers with the brackets mounted to them. That's huge news because you can now upgrade the front brakes without finding a junkyard for used ones, or paying an arm and a leg for ones from the dealer!
  4. Maybe they forgot to ask if the car has A/C?
  5. I'm definitely having mine checked. The last two days it's been -10 degrees (F). She's a screamer at that temp!
  6. My Autozone wheel bearing failed. It's under warranty still, so it will be free. Just curious what kind of luck others are having with their aftermarket bearings?
  7. I'm thinking more head issue than block. At least at first. I've heard of a few first year Pentastars cracking heads. Problem is, once it started using coolant, it should have been fixed right away. Overheating an engine absolutely kills them. I would bring it to a dealer, or a very reputable shop for diagnosing the problem. The white smoke from e exhaust is water, usually caused by a head gasket or cracked head. Either way, it's going to be expensive. The engine killing on its own might be the computer saving itself, if not, that means the engine locked itself from heat. If that's e case, the engine is junk.
  8. I agree with the Kumho tires, if you live in the north. Mine are fine until the temp drops to around 40. My fuel mileage is way better than yours. I just averaged 19.5 mpg pulling my 14 x 5 loaded trailer from Muskego WI to Mears MI and back. Most city/highway I average between 23 and 24.5 US mpg.
  9. What did you hit? I noticed their front bumper and reinforcement came completely off their car.
  10. The car wouldn't run well at all if that much damage was done. You don't machine pistons btw. You replace them, and machine the cylinder bores in the block. Is it running on 5 cylinders?
  11. Front or rear? I just replaced my right rear wheel bearing, and it didn't look there's enough clearance to push a full stud through. With it off you definitely can, but then I'd just replace the hub assembly if funds permit.
  12. I tow with mine pretty often. I can say that wind resistance seems to affect my car more than weight. Example, with both atv's on my 5 x 14 my fuel mileage is around 18 to 19 mpg. My trans temp hovers around 185. With one atv, I have to put it in the middle of the trailer so I don't overload the tongue. That puts the atv farther behind the car, and into the wind. With no wind, I drop to around 16 mpg. Last time it was windy, mpg dropped to 13, and my trans temp was 208. Most of that trip, I held the trans in 5th gear because it kept shifting back and forth. Btw, my trailer and both atv's weigh 2500 lbs. with one it's 1800.
  13. I still have the factory Kumhos on mine. They're fine when it's dry outside, but once it rains it's starting to get scary. I'm at 43500 miles. I have snow tires for it though. I'll put those on in November. I still have 5/32nds of tread on the Kumhos. I'm going to try to get another year out of them, but I doubt it.

    Clean car

Does anybody else find it necessary to wash the car after a road trip? My last trip was to Wausaukee WI and back. Even though my DJ wasn't that dirty, I had t wash it.
  15. Does anybody else find it necessary to wash your car after a road trip? My DJ wasn't even that dirty, but it's like a mental complex.
