crossroad Posted April 17, 2015 Report Share Posted April 17, 2015 well im officicall bummed with the crossroad on this aspect. I have been using www.blendmount.com for years on my ram. It mounts to the rearview mirror stalk and hangs just under the mirror. With the concealed display and valentine one detector it couldnt get much better. It looks like from the design of the mirror/stalk they dont make one for this application. im looking for a more professional/permanent deal than suction to the window. any ideas? Totemus Posted April 17, 2015 Report Share Posted April 17, 2015 The best solution I found for my SmartRadar is a Stickycup (https://www.escortradar.com/store/stickycup.html) + Direct wire cord (https://www.escortradar.com/store/direct-wire-cord.html). I mounted the detector behind the rear view mirror and don't see it at all. It doesn't distract the view and stickycup is a monster - actually people complain it is too hard to remove it. Radar under $100 is useless, imho. Good radars are very similar if not same. Milous Posted May 4, 2015 Report Share Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) I went with the Escort instead of the Valentine (didn't want a 90s technology detector, don't care about the useless arrows, and don't like false alarms). Also, soooo many nicer features on the Escort.Mine sits on the left front of the dash, at the bottom of the A-pillar. I made an "L" shaped bracket out of a piece of thin metal. I attached the bracket to the bottom of the detector with velcro. The left side of the bracket slides down between the dash and the side of the A-pillar - it did not need to be fastened into place. I used a piece of the "soft" side of velcro strips on both sides of the downward side of the bracket, which helps to keep it firmly in position. I used 2 short pieces of round glue sticks underneath the right side of the bracket, cut to length to hold the detector level. What's nice is that I can easily remove the detector, it lifts right out in seconds, and put it back in place just as quick. Only a few inches of the cord is exposed, it fits down below the A-pillar and is routed behind the dash to the back of the power outlet in the console. Even from tourists! So beware. They are legal in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Thus, a real popular model is the Beltronics STi-R Plus Remote Radar Detector. But it is pricey at about 1500 Can. Some police forces employ a radar detector, detector. That's a super sensitive machine that picks up the weak I.F. frequency of internal amps in cheap detectors. Johnnyh Posted November 21, 2015 Report Share Posted November 21, 2015 In CT and NY there are so many drivers that exceed speed limits by 20+ mph going 10 mph over is easy to not have a problem. The police watch for the highest overspeed drivers. No need for a detector. The town I live in the main road into town is bottlenecked down on both ends so its clear you don't speed in town. My friend is Town Supervisor and told me about one driver that was ticketed for 60 in a 30 and was so pissed he was stopped at 60 on the return trip through town the opposite direction. rolly Posted November 26, 2015 Report Share Posted November 26, 2015 I just got a Bel Pro 200 awhile back. It works awesome. I'll eventually get a better mount. The roads around here are curvy and hilly. The Bel gives me plenty of time to slow down. We need some west Texas speed limits down here. 80 on the interstate and 75 on two lanes. My cousin is aState Trooper and always told me " wont bother to even look at someone doing 10 over unless weather conditions are bad. Get in a lane, do't be the fastest guy and youll b fine!
