2011 Dodge Journey Mainstreet Not Shifting Correctly

So... I have had the worst time ever with my 2011 Dodge Journey Mainstreet. After almost THREE months of trying to figure out why it wouldn't stop boiling over, we FINALLY got it figured out. Now we have yet another issue. I woke up this morning for work and remote started my car. When I walked out, the car was off. I got into the car and started it. Within five minutes of driving down the road, the check engine light comes on. I look down and realize I am driving 58MPH with my RPM's at 2000-2500. I pulled over, turned off the car, turned it on and started driving again. It did it again. I put the gas pedal to the floor, it slowing was speeding up but the RPM's were not moving. So I then put the car in neutral and back into drive, RPM's still didn't move. I put the car down into the "manual" mode, shifted up to "6", put it back in drive and it drove fine. On my way home, once I got into "4" I hit the gas... NOTHING. So, I shifted it myself again. Oil PSI at a rest 20-30. While driving 50-60. I have no idea what could be causing this. P06DD was the code when it was scanned (I believe). What could this be? I am going to start with an oil change this week and then go from there. Should I buy an oil pressure sensor and replace that? I am stuck on this one.

first what was causing your over heating problem ,so others might have same problem?second its your transmission is slipping would be my guess... but change the oil and filter i assume you have the 3.6 eng since you left that info out if so the oil sender unit is on the drivers side and down halfway under a bunch of stuff hard to get to they have a video on how to replace it on u tube the proper way takes about 2-3 labor at dealership but if you have the expertise and the tools it can be done mostly by just feeling where it is and get it done....good luck and report back on what you do and if it fixes the problem

We sincerely regret to hear of the trouble that has been associated with your transmission. To clarify, have you had a chance to address this concern with your dealer?

So sorry for the late response, I guess I did not have my notifications on! (Of course...) Since my post, we had to replace the alternator (yesterday) due to losing all power and shutting down while driving 55MPH down the road Sunday on our way to lunch. That was fun... We were told that it is in "limp mode" due to lack of oil and that the car does this to prevent it from blowing the engine. The check engine light is still on and showing the same code ( P06DD). It is leaking oil constantly due to the oil cooler being cracked from overheating so I keep a jug of oil in the back at all times because I never know when I will be too low on oil. The overheating issue was resolved with a new radiator and coolant reservoir cap after MUCH trial and error. Before we replaced those, we replaced the heater core (was leaking into the driver side floorboard which ruined the airbag below, so that was removed and now the airbag dashlight is on 24/7... any suggestions?), the cooling fan resistor and thermostat. Our 2011 Journey Mainstreet (3.6) has been running great besides running in "limp mode" occasionally. Now we have noticed that the oil pressure stays at 96PSI no matter what. Oil, transmission and coolant temperatures are all within normal range. It does not go lower or any higher than 96PSI, it stays there 24/7. We are hoping that the new oil cooler and oil pressure sensor will finally solve all of these issues we have been having. Any suggestions before we replace these two parts and any suggestions on what to do about the driver side airbag? We had to take it out due to the wires being covered in coolant and basically fried (didn't want it to explode randomly while driving...). So now the airbag dash light is on 24/7. I am so darn sick of this Journey... we bought it from a buy here pay here because we THOUGHT it was a great deal. Overpaid, we are past the "warranty" with 156,600 miles on it. We are at a loss and wanting to get it fixed so we can trade it in and take the hit on the negative equity we will have since we paid 10,000 for a vehichle that only KBB's for 3,500 in perfect condition. AND not to mention, supposedly there is a recall on the steering column wiring. I am over this Journey and can not wait for it to NOT be ours anymore. It is a lemon...

I should also add that my boyfriend is a mechanic and works as a Manager of a Tire Choice here in Ohio and does all the work so we only pay for the parts and he does all the labor in the shop. We have saved a ton that way so I am BEYOND blessed to have him.

We bought the car from a buy here pay here and are past the "warranty" that we paid for. We have had nothing but issues from our Journey, it has been a total lemon...

Use the lemon law then. Much better than complaining on every thread of a forum, which you seem to be mastering today. ;)

WAAAYYYY too late for lemon law.  Lemon law a used 9 year old car?  No chance.  You get what you get when you buy uncertified used from a corner lot.  If you want the lights to go off, replace the airbag.  No other way around that one.As far as everything else, either fix it or take the hit when you dump the car.  Not a lot of choices here.

first off buying from a buy here and pay here car lot was your first mistake they buy all the crap that most honest dealerships wont keep and then resell it at a huge markup from what they paid for it,,,by the way have your boyfriend fix the oil cooler leak as driving with it leaking is a big chance on ruining your engine.good luck
