yyz got a reaction from twinx1649 in Fogging
Glad you got it fixed. We have the same year Journey and I ran into this almost a year ago. I replaced the actuator but when I pulled the old one and just plugged it into the wiring harness it seemed to work. Some people report that tapping them can "wake them up" but there are 3 in the vehicle all the same so now I have a spare.

The 3.6 loves the highway. It's a pig in the city for mpg but get it out on the open road and it performs.

When we had this problem a while back it was the alternator.Because it wasn't charging the battery you get battery save mode. How was the alternator tested?Pretty easy to test it on the vehicle with a multimeter.

You have a warranty and still had to pay $1400?

The recirculate actuator is behind the glovebox on the right side of the cabin filter location.I took it out and when I plugged it back into the wiring harness it seemed to work. But I ordered a new one from the US for about $15 canadian since my wife will be there next week. You can order from Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/Dorman-604-029-Air-Door-Actuator/dp/B00HRSP2A6/ref=sr_1_1?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1552110225&s=automotive&sr=1-1&vehicle=2013-40-6800-2962--9-6--13827-14-1-1--246-2&vehicleName=2013+Dodge+Journey
I also recommend this

There are 2 philips screws holding it in but they are a pain to get at unless you unplug a couple of the wiring harnesses underneath.
If you simply remove the actuator you can manually put the door into fresh air until you get a new actuator, that's what I have done for now.
Check out this on youtube. The recirculate actuator is shown around 1:05 in to the video he's not sure what it is but that's the one that chooses fresh air or recirculate.

Removed the recirculate actuator and placed the door in fresh air position and the problem has gone away. Will order a new actuator from Amazon for about $35

yyz got a reaction from jkeaton in SE 2017 journey lacks speed
Did you not test drive the car before buying it?We first drove a gutless 2.4l Canada value package for a short ride before I asked to drive the 3.6.If you ask me the 2.4 is underpowered and offers little in the way of better mpg

yyz got a reaction from OhareFred in Battery problems - hopefully a fix
So after 7 years(your profile lists the Journey as a 2010) you think the battery cables etc are too small to charge the battery? So how did the car run for the first 7 years?
Me thinks you had a bad cable or connection but to say undersized cables ?

I don't think though that that will confirm that all the doors are properly closed which is what the op wanted.

yyz got a reaction from jkeaton in Alternator broke at low mileage
Dealer alternator for a rebuilt is around $560 or so
https://www.moparpartscanada.ca/auto-parts/2013/dodge/journey/crew-trim/3-6l-v6-flex-engine/electrical-cat/alternator-scat
I saw a guy on youtube motor city mechanic he works at a dealership and on the 3.6 he unbolts the ac compressor on a Caravan and can squeeze it out the bottom. We had our 2013 Crew done at 45000 km and they took the rad hose approach takes a couple of hours.Got a rebuilt for about $275 or so at parts source

yyz got a reaction from jkeaton in Uconnect constant reboot
If you are under warranty I don't know why you wouldn't take it in to the dealership. I can't really see a software issue that was there before and after you did an upgrade.

yyz got a reaction from dhh3 in TSB: Idler Pulley Noise 2011-2014 3.6L
We had the idler pulley replaced a couple of weeks ago and definitely noticed a difference in the colder weather. At least my dealer replaced it without hearing it as it was "warm" when we booked it in.Almost 3 years now and that is our only warranty claim, very happy with the Journey.Only downside is gas mileage in the city, this engine was built for the highway it loves it and the mileage is good.
