Changing the battery on a DJ is like changing the spark plugs on my 1990 Bronco II. The left front wheel needs to be removed! Someone else can do it! LOL

By disconnecting the battery you will be doing a system reset.
You won't however loose your presets on the radio.

I don't believe you will find an individual fuse
for the switch, they don't do that.
The tailgate is a dirt magnet could be part of the
problem but could also be a broken wire in the
cabin to hatch door loom and this been a reported
failure in the past.

Tito Mon,
Sorry to hear you're having troubles with the key fob.
The switch itself may be problematic and/or worn out.
At this stage, I would recommend having your dealer look at both the key fob and your vehicle to verify what the issue may be.

How do you have it programmed? Mine is programmed so it will unlock only the driver's door with the first push. The second push unlocks the rest of the doors and the hatch.

Tito Mon reacted to jkeaton in Brake rotors warped and rusted at 13,000 km?
Brakes were terrible from 09 till sometime in 2012 when they upgraded from the factory. Yours must still have the too small brakes. Do yourself a favor and replace everything with quality aftermarket parts, not dealer installed parts. They will last much longer. You can get yourself some decent pads and new rotors much cheaper and install them yourself to save a ton of money. Its not that hard to do.

Dodge was offering an extended warranty on 09-12 brakes on DJ. Contact Costumer Care or have your dealer do it ( while you are there) and see if they will cover it. Nothing to lose. Search the forum, it's been covered to death! Good luck!

Tito Mon reacted to jkeaton in Bad vibration at 2500 rpms
Welcome to the forum. Where do you live? Are you driving in snow and freezing weather? As stated above, you might just have a chunk of snow or ice on something causing the vibration. You need to check it out at least yourself and see if there is something obvious.

Tito Mon reacted to Ricky Butt in Winter Tires Size
P225/65R17 on 17x6.5" rims - That is the stock 17" size available from dodge on the SE model. Should fit any Journey though. I have heard that 16's are pushing it for clearance between the calipers and rims.

Tito Mon reacted to FROGBOX in rear brake pad replacement,,
If you don't mind a drive to Whitby, I can help you. Buy the parts and I can help you install them. I have the brake piston rewind tool. There is more to replacing rear pads than just changing parts. You also need to lube the sliders and clean & lube the guides that the pads sit in. Otherwise, they will stick and drag on the rotors, causing premature wear.

Tito Mon reacted to jkeaton in rear brake pad replacement,,
Very true. Most stores will rent you the tools. They normally charge what the tool set would cost new, but then refund it when you bring them back. Or, if your like me, I just decide I could use the tools and end up keeping them. You can also get brake tool kits off ebay for cheap. I got a kit for calipers that includes all the adapters for all makes of vehicles for under $30. Most of the newer rear brakes can't use a plain old c-clamp to seat the piston, you have to turn the piston while pressing it in, those kits are a life saver to be. I used to do it with a pair of needle nose pliers. Took forever!

Here is a thread I started with a youtube clip showing the rear pad and rotor replacement......http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/3467-2009-dodge-journey-replace-rear-rotors-pads-video/

Tito Mon reacted to jkeaton in rear brake pad replacement,,
Easy enough. Unbolt the calipers, remove the pads, seat the piston (remove the brake fluid reservoir and remove some brake fluid so it does not overflow when the fluid gets pushed back into it), as stated above, you need a special tool to turn the brake piston in while puching it. Install the new pads, reinstall the caliper. Message me if you need assistance.

Do you have anyone else besides Canadian Tire up there? Seems like every forum I'm on, the Canadians are talking about Canadian Tire.....are they like a Firestone or something? What are other options for vehicle repair?
-
Tito Mon reacted to wingit11 in rear brake pad replacement,,
I have not had good experience with Canadian Tire. Seems that they do not have very experienced mechanics and always want to up sell me for work that is not needed. Fortunately I can do most of the routine stuff myself, but when I do need work done that I cannot (or don't want to) do I use a independent shop that was highly recommended to me. Working out good so far. Of course the DJ is still under warranty so it goes to the dealer.

You can rent tools.
Inquire at Cantire,PartSource or Napa stores.
