I remember a old guy always tell us, for a gas engine to run you need two things, one is gas, the other is spark, so it will be good to check what is missing of the two, from that you can have a idea if it is a sensor or fuel pump etc, of course you need to make sure you have compression on the cylinders.

Update: The fix last around one year, after the same issue came back I purchased an used ABS module on ebay, I replaced two years ago, so far no more trouble.

If after all test the problem remain the reason should be the catalytic efficiency is lower than 95%, you can try the P0420 eliminator with a small catalytic inside. P0420 eliminator

After we got the 18 2.4 CrossRoad in 2019 I ran this test because our 13 2.4 AVP was doing it too: Start the engine then press the brake pedal steady with force ( I would said 80 lb of force), the pedal slowly travel to the floor. I can not duplicate this in other cars I owned. Both SUV have OEM parts, except the brake pads in the 2013.

I read the replies but I was expecting to see more inputs, the thing that the 2018 2.4 we purchase in 2019 was doing the same, it makes me to think that this is a designing issue, however both Journeys brake fine, when driving to any speed the SUV stop with the pedal in the middle, but if the engine is running you can press the pedal all the way to the floor, with engine no running the pedal does not travel to the floor, even if you press hard. I give up on my 2.4 2013, I adjusted the booster pin to master cylinder, so I have less play in the brake pedal, because the 2.4 2018 is doing it too I considered this a design issue, I would like to know if anyone with a 2.4 Journey with the engine running and steady pressure to the brake pedal, if the brake pedal does not sink to the floor.

You can try replacing the oil pressure switch, My 2.4 throw some random codes, I do not recall the numbers, but after replacing the oil pressure switch it stop, I use a after market from ebay. I replaced it because it was leaking oil. oil pressure switch

I have the P0456 on mine still on the factory warranty, dealer replace the purge valve, canister and update the ECM 2 or 3 times and the code always returned, after warranty expired I change the same parts again and the code returned, finally I replaced the gas cap with a OEM also I sanded the filler neck with 1000 sand paper and greased with brake pads grease. No more P0456 in the last 8 years.

Is a 2.4? I got P0301 or P0302 code in my 2.4 and it was the fuel injector.

Has anyone found a solution to the brake pedal sinking to the floor? I have a 2018 (2.4) and a 2013 (2.4), both of them have the issue, the 2018 is all original brake parts, brake system has never been touch, and does it less than the 2013 with new pads, new OEM vacuum booster, new OEM master cylinder and the ABS module replaced.

Do you replace the sensors with OEM? How many miles in the Journey?

What engine size? 2.4 or 3.6

Go to youtube and search for transmission replacement on Journey, if no help, try the search for the Dodge Caliber, Dodge Avenger as those cars share parts with the Dodge Journey.
