The package is billed as an alternative to conventional wax. It is listed as a synthetic wax that repels dirt and leaves no residue, and is safe to use on plastic trim as well. I liked it and the result was beautiful. I'm undecided as to whether or not I'll switch. I'll decide when I run out of Ardex Miami Shine, which I love. It's really just as easy to apply and hardly leaves any residue at all, plus it has carnuba in it which really brings out the best in my Copper Pearl color, I think. Thanks for the compliments! I thought all along that I would be ordering a R/T also, but we really loved the Copper Pearl color and the chrome wheels, neither of which are available on the R/T. I like the R/T interior the best. I love your color, too. Do you have any pictures up? -
Beancounter - I think you gave me an incorrect VIN. ET106705 comes up in the Chrysler system as unsold. There was a warranty claim on if for new car preparation by Hill-Kelly Dodge in Pensacola Florida. I looked on their website and it is still in their new car inventory. You may be off a digit on the VIN, perhaps?

I should re-phrase the "only" - I am grateful that the temp was that high! What I meant was that it was not a hot, sunny day but just one where I applied the wax in direct sunlight. The high clouds kind of filtered the sun's rays anyhow. Today the temps are back in the 30's and will be in the teens tonight. And another winter storm is on tap for us about mid-week with more salt, sand and general crap on the roads -
8 speakers?
Journeyman425 replied to madtown28's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I agree that there should be more control over the frequency response. However, I like the clarity of the sound overall. The amp's power is clean. I find that if I connect my phone via cable rather than stream the music via Bluetooth, the clarity and imaging are much better. Same with playing a disc in the CD player. Sirius' sound quality is awful and this system's articulation brings out the worst in it. A really good set of 6x9 coaxial speakers in the four doors would give it killer sound with the right input source. -

One of my co-workers gave me a bottle of Turtle Wax Ice liquid to try today. I must say it is the easiest on/off wax I've ever used. You apply it with a sponge applicator and wipe off with a micorfiber towel - both of which are supplied with the wax. The car looks like a mirror. Very impressive. You can use it on plastic trim, too, and it does not leave a white residue. I also used it on the wheels and they came out great. They say you can apply it in direct sunlight. I used it in the sun, but it was only 59 degrees and there were high clouds so the sun was not all that bright. Nevertheless, it wiped off very easily with no streaks or any trace of powdery residue. -

The transmission shift lever has a switch integrated into it which sees whether the lever is in the Park position or not. If it does not see the lever in Park, the key (or FOBIK, as it is called, for Frequency Operated Button Integrated Key)will become locked in the Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) or what we would call the ignition switch in a conventional setup. It may only require a cable adjustment for repair. See below: 8N - Power Systems / Power Locks / TRANSMITTER, Integrated Key FOB/Diagnosis and Testing FOBIK TRAPPED IN WINThe Fob with Integrated Key (FOBIK) cannot be rotated to the LOCK position, allowing it to be removed from the ignition switch also referred to as the Wireless Ignition Node/WIN. The automatic transmission or transaxle is shifted mechanically through a cable from the gearshift lever mechanism to the transmission or transaxle valve body. A gated park switch is physically located on and integral to the gearshift lever mechanism and is hard wired directly to the WIN. The gated park switch is a simple plunger-like actuated open or closed contact switch that could be considered redundant to the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) except that it monitors the position selected with the gearshift lever, while the TRS monitors the position or gear of the transmission or transaxle that is actually engaged. A damaged or improperly adjusted gearshift cable could result in a different gear being engaged than that which is selected. The WIN uses the gated park switch input to control an internal key lock solenoid, which controls whether the FOBIK can be rotated to the LOCK position. When the gearshift lever is not in the PARK position, the gated park switch is a closed circuit, the key lock solenoid is energized and the FOBIK cannot be rotated to the LOCK position for removal. CONDITION POSSIBLE CAUSES CORRECTION CANNOT TURN FOBIK TO LOCK POSITION 1. Damaged, binding or improperly adjusted gearshift cable. 1. Inspect and replace or adjust gearshift cable, if required. 2. Damaged or binding gearshift lever mechanism. 2. Inspect and replace or adjust gearshift lever mechanism. 3. No gated park switch input to WIN. 3. Use a diagnostic scan tool with software release version 8.05 or greater to read and confirm no gated park switch input to the WIN. Refer to the appropriate CONDITION that follows. 4. Key lock solenoid (WIN) unresponsive to gated park switch input. 4. Use a diagnostic scan tool with software release version 8.05 or greater to read and confirm gated park switch input to the WIN. Refer to the appropriate CONDITION that follows. NO GATED PARK SWITCH INPUT 1. Open TRS park signal circuit. 1. Repair the open TRS park signal circuit between the gated park switch (gearshift lever mechanism) and the WIN, if required 2. Damaged or ineffective gated park switch. 2. Replace the damaged or ineffective gated park switch (gearshift lever mechanism), if required. KEY LOCK SOLENOID UNRESPONSIVE TO GATED PARK SWITCH INPUT 1. Damaged or ineffective key lock solenoid. 1. Replace the damaged or ineffective key lock solenoid (WIN), if required.

You are correct; it should not. The leaking roof is easily repairable by a competent technician. Schedule an appointment with your dealer to have the issue resolved. If you live in a cold climate area, It might behoove you to wait a little while to do this until the temperatures moderate so that it can be properly water tested. As a six-time Chrysler owner, perhaps you have a good relationship with your selling dealer which will certainly help avoid some of the pitfalls faced by Debra (no fault of hers) in obtaining a resolution. Please keep us posted.

There is no correlation between disabling the ESP and fuel economy. The ESP only operates on demand when conditions warrant. Depressing the ESP Off switch simply prevents most ESP functions (it partially disables the ESP, not completely).

DESCRIPTION The engine is equipped with Variable Valve Timing (VVT). This system adjusts the timing of all four camshafts independently using solenoids and oil control valves to direct oil pressure into the camshaft phaser assemblies. The camshaft phaser assembly advances and/or retards camshaft timing to improve engine performance, mid-range torque, idle quality, fuel economy, and reduce emissions. The four phasers are located on the front of the camshafts, behind the VVT solenoids, inside of the engine timing cover. The exhaust phasers are identified with EXH and the intake phasers are identified with INT. The exhaust phaser has a clockspring, the intake phaser does not. The camshaft sprockets are integrated with the camshaft phaser and are serviced as an assembly. Do not attempt to disassemble the phasers, they are not serviceable. Phasers are interchangeable between the right and left cylinder heads but should be installed in the same location as removed. The engine has an Oil Control Valve (OCV) for each phaser. The OCV also acts as a bolt for mounting the Phaser to the camshaft. The OCVs spool valve is spring loaded and should move freely within the OCV body. The four OCVs are identical but should be installed in the same location as removed.

Possibly a faulty cam phaser. I've seen similar symptoms in a couple of 3.6's - an early Journey Lux (nice car!) a Grand Cherokee and a Chrysler 200. All were 2011 models. Flashing electronic throttle light, engine light on or flashing, no power, sluggish shifting. Usually a key cycle will clear the symptoms temporarily. The problem seemed to be confined to 2011 models but, like the cylinder head issues, there could be some early production 2012's with the same issue. Diagnostic codes will certainly be stored; there's probably a bevy of them based on your description. I realize that many of you are less than thrilled with dealer visits, but this issue should probably be dealer-diagnosed, and if there is service contract or warranty coverage, then surely. These cam phasers are precision components that are engine-oil lubricated. Synthetic oil might be of future consideration if you do not use it already. It is the reason why I switched to synthetic oil in my Journey for the first time in any car that I have ever owned. The last case of a bad cam phaser that we had involved the GC that I mentioned above. The customer went 14,000 miles between her last oil change (she has a very legit reason) and the problem occurred a few thousand miles later. Could be coincidence but the FSM does mention contaminated oil as a possible cause of failure. Let us know what the dianostics reveal. 08 - Electrical/8I - Ignition Control/SOLENOID, Variable Valve Timing/Description DESCRIPTION The 3.6L engine is equipped with Variable Valve Timing (VVT). The four VVT solenoids are located on the front of the cylinder head covers. The pintle should move freely within the solenoid body. Do not attempt to disassemble the solenoids, they are not serviceable. The solenoids are identical but should be installed in the same location as removed.

I checked your VIN. The Sales Code LMK already exists in the Standard Equipment field in the Build Sheet. It is not available in the Options area for me to add it since it is already there. If they are not working, please check in with your dealership - there may be a diagnostic fault code active which could prevent them from working. Here is your build sheet (it does not copy and paste well on this forum; everything runs together rather than carrying over in chart form from the Chrysler site - sorry) Vehicle Option - All Standard Equipment Code Description Code Description Code Description APAS Monotone Paint BABS 160 Amp Alternator BCPS 525 Amp Maintenance Free Battery BGES Brake Assist BNBS Electronic Stability Control BRES Anti-Lock 4-Wheel-Disc Brakes CACS Low Back Bucket Seats CBDS Active Head Restraints CB9S 2nd Row In Floor Storage Bins CFJS Rear Reclining / Fold Flat Seat CGDS Front Height Adjust Shoulder Belts CGUS Child Seat Anchor System-LATCH Ready CGYS Drvr Inflatable Knee-Bolster Air Bag CG3S Advanced Multistage Front Air Bags** CJ1S Supplemental Frt Seat Side Air Bags CJ5S Supp. Side Curtain All Rows Air Bags CKCS Floor Carpet CKTS Cargo Tie Down Loops CLPS Door Sill Scuff Pads CTLS Base Door Trim Panel CVMS Full Length Flr Console Prem A/Rest CWPS Illuminated Cupholders GAMS Solar Control Glass GBBS Tinted Windshield Glass GFAS Rear Window Defroster GNAS Rear View Day/Night Mirror GNFS Driver Side Sun Visor w/Mirror GNYS Passenger Side Sun Visor GT6S Power Heated Mirrors, Fold-Away GXDS Remote Proximity Keyless Entry GXRS Keyless Entry GXXS Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System GX4S Keyless Go JATS Premium Instr Cluster w/Display JA2S Instrument Cluster w/Tach JA6S Premium Instrument Cluster JDJS 240 KPH Primary Speedometer JHAS Var Intermittent Windshield Wipers JHBS Rear Window Wiper/Washer JJBS Dual Note Electric Horns JKFS Cowl Mounted Hood Release JKPS 12V Auxiliary Power Outlet JKWS 12V Center Console Power Outlet JMAS Air Filtering JPBS Power Locks JPDS Power Windows, Driver One-Touch LAXS Front Passenger Seat Belt Alert LAZS Vehicle Information Center LBCS Glove Box Lamp LBLS Driver Passenger Lower LED Lamps LCAS Front Courtesy/Map Lamps LCES Rear Courtesy/Reading Lamps LCSS Incandescent Stop/Tail Lamps LDFS Liftgate Flood Lamp LHDS Headlamp Off Time Delay LMES Halogen Quad Headlamps LMKS Daytime Running Headlamps, High Beam LPSS CHMSL Lamp LPTS Backup Lamps MDAS Frt License Plate Attachment Screws MFDS Bright Grille MGNS Dodge Badge MHAS Black Windshield Moldings MNKS Body Color Door Handles MPFS Journey Badge MPJS Black Sill MPLS Black-Out Tape MP2S Silver Mold In Color Fascia Applique NFPS 20.5 Gallon Fuel Tank NHKS Engine Block Heater NHMS Speed Control QAUS Granite Crystal Met. Do I read this correctly - the fan does not work at all from the front A/C system and only warm air blowing from rear?

Ordered 2014
Journeyman425 replied to hockey_puck's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
No kidding? Well, I'm with you on the AWD - we skipped it also. It's optional on every trim level except AVP. But leather was something I definitely wanted. It's available as an option on the SXT Plus model here in the U.S. and standard on Limited and R/T. I wanted Chrome Clad wheels and Copper Pearlcoat as the color, and neither were available on R/T, otherwise we may have gone for that. -
Ordered 2014
Journeyman425 replied to hockey_puck's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Very interesting. I wonder why Limited is FWD only? Very, very nice ride you have on order there! -
The Journey is my third Chrysler product with a sunroof. None of them leak. I've owned two Mazdas with sunroofs. Neither have leaked (I still have one of them - a 1988 RX-7 - and no leaks) I had a Toyota with an aftermarket sunroof and it never leaked either. All except the Toyota used a similar design - a sliding glass or sheetmetal panel which rides in a tub assembly with drains. I've seen plenty of leaks over the years in sunroofs. It does happen. However, the key to correcting the issue is proper diagnosis. Repair is not a big deal once an accurate diagnosis is made. In many cases, the gasket around the glass/sheetmetal panel allows more water in than the drains can handle. Replace the faulty gasket, ensure the drains are clear and problem solved. More often than not, the drains simply clog and cannot keep up with the normal flow of water into the tub. What I read about all too often is guesswork rather than diagnostics. I believe that was the root cause of Debra's ongoing issue. Instead of taking the time to properly diagnose her leak, the tech or maybe even the service advisor simply guessed at the problem, ordered a part, then put a flat-rate guy to work on it, trying to beat the factory labor time allowance on a job that only had a partial chance of correction in the first place. So, the guy is rushing to install a part so he does not lose time on the job (flat rate technicians are rewarded by completing a job in less time than the labor allowance and are hurt by taking more time than the labor allowance. Warranty labor allowances are historically less than customer pay ones) and hacks the car apart and puts it back together sloppily. Remember the odd noises in the headliner and wind leaks after the job was "done"? And guess what? Still leaks. This car is really not the culprit - the repair process failed her. But now it's too late for the dealer or for Chrysler and they have to buy it back. I'm happy for her for sure, but the whole thing could have been avoided if it had been handled properly from the start. And the worst part of all is that the customer has suffered unecessarily.

The AVP and SE use a different front fascia than SXT, Limited and R/T.
