  1. Same here RTM...I actually created a Maintenance Log on computer and describe all the service work I do and staple all the receipts with that sheet for proof of maintenance. I know I was reading at another site, (maybe it was the Jeep forum) one of the guys who was a service tech warned members to save all receipts of any DIY servicing as Chrysler was now requesting this for proof of maintenance in order to get warranty work approved. It does sound reasonable to me if the proof can be given with no hassle from the dealer.
  2. Just remember to save all those receipts of oil and filter purchases for warranty purposes.
  3. Sorry SilentDan, i was only busting your chops....As mentioned by Oracle, squeeling brakes doesn't necessarily mean their shot an application of synthetic brake grease on the outer pads usually will silence them. I am fully aware of the crappy brakes as I have experienced them first hand when i was cut off and was forced to slam on the brakes. It was the first time I ever felt brakes that just seemed too weak for this vehicle. I'm not to concerned as I will be upgrading the pads & rotors myself with some decent aftermarkets and see if that improves my braking. BTW i'm close to 30,000 km with the original brakes with still plenty of pad life left. As for gas mileage if your thinking that you are going to find an economizer with an import V-6 engine you may be disappointed to find that you are not going to get that much better unless you go to a small 4 cyl. utility vehicle which may or may not suit your needs. Here are the comparisons as further proof....I will use the Toyota Highlander as your import which seems to be the near equivalent size wise and engine wise to the Dodge Journey: 2012 Toyota Highlander (auto) V6 3.5L 2WD = 20 MPG (combined) / V6 3.5L 4WD = 19 MPG (combined) 2012 Dodge Journey (auto) V6 3.6L FWD = 22 MPG (combined) / V6 3.6L AWD = 19 MPG (combined) 2010 Dodge Journey (auto) V6 3.5L FWD = 19 MPG (combined) / V6 3.5L AWD = 18 MPG (combined) You can check out other stats at www.fueleconomy.gov
  4. Wow, brakes every 9,000 km would definitely be a sign of aggressive braking trying to avoid rear ending someone with the lead foot that is giving you the crappy mileage :D.....you must be joking about the 9000 km's because if you brakes are going that fast then it should be covered under the brake warranty from the last time they were replaced.
  5. Yes you will if the 2012 brakes are like the 2011....I am currently using 16" steelies with my SXT and have absolutely no issues with calipers rubbing.
  6. Just a little more info added to Redtomatoman's post: P1005 DODGE - Manifold Tunning Valve Control Performance Possible causes - Manifold tunning valve circuit open or shorted - Manifold tunning valve poor electrical connection Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) P1005 DODGE Description This Powertrain Control Module (PCM) compares the circuit feedback to a calibrated closed range when when the circuit is de-energized or to a calibrated open range when the circuit is energized. If the value is to be determined to be out of the calibrated range in either the de-energized. Little more info in this link: http://www.justanswer.com/dodge/1jxs5-2007-dodge-charger-sxt-p1005-manifold-tuning-valve-control.html
  7. AWD is the key to a great winter drive experience ....had it in my CR-V and boy do I really miss that drive a lot. Although, my wife's SXT now does really well in the snow ever since we invested in a decent set of snow tires but with the factory Kumho's it was sliding all kinds.
  8. If i am not mistaken doesn't parts stores like autozone do the free check engine light scan? You could go their to get the code and find out what your issues are.
  9. Have you tried dealing with another dealership?
  10. Welcome to the forum darrenmaclennan! Congrats to both of you gents!
  11. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.......you might want to read how well the 2013 Ford Escapes/Fusion are doing with their new redesigned models before you ditch Dodge. http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1080803_2013-ford-escape-fusion-recalled-for-fire-risk Too bad you are dealing with an incompetant dealer who could have fixed this issue quickly.
  12. I posted the info mainly because it brings a quick conclusion to this thread and it is very useful for any DJ owner who uses a google search to get this info....nothing more annoying than trying to google info and read thread with no conclusion. Also, it was a full copy and paste from the manual so really they are now reading the manual just that i will have to flip the pages for them.
  13. Actually the do! Dodgecares and DodgeCAcares are customer service agents that monitor this site frequently and help members with issues.
  14. Call it spoonfeeding or whatever but I posted it because it is useful info to have in the forum not only for the OP but for any new Journey owner that is reading this thread.
  15. From your owners manual: Oil Change Required Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system. The “Oil Change Required” message will flash in the EVIC display for approximately 10 seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent upon your personal driving style. Unless reset, this message will continue to display each time you cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position. To turn off the message temporarily, press and release the MENU button. To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance), perform the following procedure: 1. Without pressing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button and cycle the ignition to the ON/ RUN position (Do not start the engine.) 2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds. 3. Without pressing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button once to return the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position. NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure.
  16. I back the Journey out of the garage for my wife or else I'd be contributing my pain to this thread. :D
  17. WoW....that doesn't look good on them at all. I'm wondering if you have troubles with a defective black driver side door are they going to replace it with a silver door?
  18. Hah, you learn something new everyday! I just checked the menu screen and there it was "doors and locks" and I set it to all doors. This vehicle just gets better everyday.....Thanks RTM!
  19. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that I find it annoying with the keyless entry when you put your hand on the driver side handle only the driver door opens and on the passenger side all the doors open....why couldn't the have that feature on the driver side also??? Makes life alot easier when you want to open the trunk when your hands are full and you don't want to fumble for your key fob.
  20. True that it is a mild annoyance and that should end once I replace them with ceramic pads.
  21. You are correct Bigtsr as noted in my owner's manual: NOTE: In case the ignition switch does not change with the push of a button, the RKE transmitter (Key Fob) may have a low or dead battery. In this situation a back up method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put the nose side (side opposite of the emergency key) of the Key Fob against the ENGINE START/STOP button and push to operate the ignition switch.
  22. My only annoyances are rear wheel brake dust & no transmission dipstick.
  23. The reports they do is just a carbon copy of every year. American cars lacking, Asian vehicles getting it right and I'm just short of an orgasm for Mercedes and BMW. Don't get me wrong I do like imports which I have been driving since the mid 80's but they've had their issues too (ie. Toyota with their weekly mass recalls). Funny how the Dodge 4 cyl. is an underpowered lethargic hunk of junk, but a Honda CR-V which is like 10 measly hp more is now a refined piece of machinery that owns the road....I've owned the CR-V and many other Honda's and they all were underpowered and way overpriced with a bland interior.
