  1. With that many problems for a 2012 DJ it would probably be a good idea to see if Dodge will buy back your vehicle.
  2. I went from an AWD to a FWD and my wife smacked into a curb the first snowfall we got. After that I invested in a set of winter tires and it has been great ever since.
  3. Doesn't the later models of the 2012 come with the bigger brakes? If that is the case you may want to look into getting that instead.
  4. I posted oil change instructions in this thread here: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/3161-changing-oil-in-36-l-journeys/ and even though it is not the same procedure as the Journeys oil change you can watch this youtube video to get an idea of how it is done: The journey is real easy with the oil filter located at the top. Just make sure that you allow a good amount of time for all the oil to drain, use original Mopar oil filters (get them from dealers parts dept.) and you will need 5.6L of oil to be replaced. Also, please SAVE ALL RECEIPTS of oil filter and oil purchases. Usually i staple them together with a sheet that i create on the computer that gives vehicle info, mileage, date and a brief summary of service preformed. You will need this for warranty purposes in the event that you are challenged by the dealer if the vehicle was maintained.
  5. Hey Chris, I'm in the same situation as you as the family will be going to Florida. I will be doing the oil change just before and right after the trip. Mind you that i will be doing the oil changes myself so the cost of the changes is not a real concern to me. Already stocked up on the Mobil1 when it was on special at Can Tire. I'll also be changing the brakes before I go as an extra precaution.....I don't want to have any problems with my brakes during my vacation.
  6. I couldn't agree with you more! There are plenty of youtube video tutorials on replacing brakes and I even posted one here for replacing rear rotors and pads on a 2009 Journey: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/3467-2009-dodge-journey-replace-rear-rotors-pads-video/?hl=rotors
  7. We really get ripped off here in Canada when it comes to the purchase of vehicles compared to the U.S. We all know it, we complain and yet we are still getting screwed even with a strong Canadian dollar.
  8. You really need to go on youtube and learn how to replace the brakes on your own.
  9. The lawsuit is based on what? EDIT: I just read your other post and your issue is with the brakes.
  10. I thought it was just me that couldn't find the plugs.
  11. Top tier gas are fuels with higher amounts of cleaning additives added which is better for your engine in the long run..... you can read more about it here: http://www.toptiergas.com/
  12. 17 cents is quite the difference which I have never seen here even with the most low budget private gas stations. Maybe it's just me but I would never let any of my vehicles fill up with gas that isn't top tier regardless of the difference in cost.
  13. At least your numbers are now starting to look like city driving consumption....stick with the Shell gas.
  14. I can see this being beneficial for seniors or a stay at home mom/dad but in my case I can see no savings and probably an increase in premiums.
  15. Your not alone 13DODGE i have the same thing with mine.
  16. Copy & Paste from the same question posted on the net: "Click the top left button on the steering wheel (looks like a book page) toggle the display (display is right under the temp and gas gauge on the left of dash). Go to Units and change between U.S. And metric to toggle from farentheight to Celsius an visa versa. It also changes between miles and kilometers, gallons / kilograms, etc. I hope that helps - it took me a minute to figure this out."
  17. If you've done all of your service maintenance at the dealer and your warranty just expired they should extend the warranty as a reward for customer loyalty or at least make you only cover half of the cost. I know that Honda did that with my brothers 99 Accord when the transmission broke down and he was like a 1,000 km's past the warranty. Anyhow, if they don't do anything for you & your warranty is expired at least you can have the satisfaction of telling the service manager to piss off while you take your business elsewhere.
  18. Use top tier gas stations like Shell, Esso, Petro- Canada and Chevron (if offered).
  19. This is the reason why I prefer to do my own oil changes. The dealer was sloppy thinking the 2013's are like the previous model years using 5W30. I would have them change it to the recommended oil.
  20. Here is info on replacing the thermostat in your Journey if your are doing it yourself: 3.5L Engine WARNING Do not remove pressure cap with the system hot and under pressure because serious burns from coolant can occur. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Remove engine cover. Disconnect radiator upper hose from thermostat housing. Remove thermostat housing bolts. Remove housing, thermostat, and gasket. Thermostat—3.5L engine To install: Clean gasket sealing surfaces. Install thermostat and gasket into thermostat housing. For ease of installation, install bolts in housing for thermostat and gasket retention. Install thermostat and housing to Intake manifold. Tighten bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm). Connect radiator hoses and install hose clamp. Install the engine cover. Refill cooling system. Connect negative cable.
  21. I can't help but think if i was in the same situation with an engine tick that needed the same type of repairs that the dealer would put up a huge fight not to do the work required. BTW sorry to hear about your friends. It's very sad to hear when someones negligence results in a loss of life.
  22. Your warranty is covered by Chrysler not the dealer.....the dealers act on behalf for Chrysler to perform the service/warranty work. You can go to any Chrysler/Dodge dealership to have any service or warranty work done. You don't owe anything to the dealer you bought the vehicle from as it's YOUR money that bought vehicle not theirs and that puts you in control where you would like your vehicle serviced. I stopped using the dealer where I bought my Journey after the free oil changes were used and moved on to another dealer closer to my work where they were more than glad to have my business. You might want to try out Windancers dealership as he seems very confident that something can be done with your situation.
