  1. Hmmmm.....only 2 times I had real lemons, one with transmission problems (broke down at 1500km's) and they were both driven in from another dealership. Makes me wonder if they used the valet guy on Ferris Bueller to drive it to the dealership. :D
  2. I know that with my 2011 SXT the transmission is a sealed unit that is dealer serviced only so I would say go to the dealer.
  3. It's not so much the engines but the quality of oil that is better than in the past ....regardless I still wouldn't go by what the owners manual says unless you are using a synthetic oil with a filter that is rated for that many miles and as DodgeCACares mentioned it depends on the type of driving you do and where you live. Stop n' go driving in the city would need oil changes a lot more frequently than someone who does most of their driving on the highway. I do my own oil changes so at 5000 kms/3000 miles it's getting changed.
  4. There is no need to go to the dealer to reset the oil message indicator, just follow the directions i posted in this thread--> http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/4324-oil-message-always-on/?hl=%2Bchange+%2Breset#entry25069 where it is highlighted in red.
  5. Although, I do love that traditional SUV style the DJ has all other car companies have redesigned their SUV's to that rounded bubbly look....With Dodge using Italian designers which are among the best in the world how can that be a bad thing?
  6. Great! Thanks for the info Moparman! I checked at Rockauto and they only showed the bigger brakes sizes for the R/T models so I'm glad that if I want the option of bigger brakes I can go ahead with it.
  7. I did a little research and it looks like the 17" rims can't go any bigger with the brakes.
  8. I know that I couldn't leave it that way and I didn't...it bugs me every time i look at them. Anyhow, I thought I would present another option for anyone who wants to keep their stock rims and avoid paying the inflated cost at the dealer.
  9. Not true, you can go to a rim repair shop. Here in Toronto we have quite a few of them. Last year one of my rims on my DJ smacked into a curb that took a chunk off the rim ....$150.00 (all taxes included) and you can't tell that anything happened. Here are examples of the type of work this one shop does: http://www.unionrim.com/#!services (***** in no way am I affiliated or endorse the company link provided, this is posted strictly for educational purposes only*****)
  10. My other car and forum I visit had a how to on timing belt and water pump replacement with detailed step by step instructions and pics. The info was so good that I did it myself and saved about $800.00 from the dealership doing the work.
  11. Would you know if I would have any clearance issues with the 17" stock rims if i were to upgrade to the bigger brakes?
  12. Welcome to the forum! This thread may help address your issue....http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/2916-upgraded-to-hid-headlamps/
  13. 3000 km's is a little soon for an oil change....I change mine every 5000 km's or 6 months. The owners manual shows 13,000km's or 6 months which personally i find 13,000km a little too much unless you are using synthetic.
  14. You may want to read Post# 42 & 47 in this thread regarding dead batteries in 2011's: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/2231-who-here-had-a-dead-battery-on-a-new-11/page-3
  15. Did you try reading this thread here: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/2916-upgraded-to-hid-headlamps/ I think the very first post addresses your issue.
  16. I'm surprised you didn't like the AWD on the CR-V. I used to love its response and it always pulled through some pretty bad snow even with crappy tires. Don't get me wrong I still love my Journey more but I sure do miss the AWD.
  17. I don't believe that your fuel mileage is that crappy even with it being brand new, idling for long periods and city driving. Something seems out of whack with your numbers. Have you ever reset your trip odometer after a fill up to see how many KM's you are getting per tank? Or better yet try going to www.fuelly.com to track your fuel consumption to see if it is the roughly the same as on your EVIC. It would be the only way to find out if your Journey is a true gas pig or not.
  18. No experience with this situation but could the remote starter have something to do with this?
  19. If you feel that you are being duped then take it somewhere else to get it checked out or inspected....just don't mention the dealer said they need to be replaced. Oh and have the warranty work done first by the dealer!
  20. Nice input! You're getting your problems done under warranty which is better than after it is expired so it can't be all that bad. EDIT: Hah, I just noticed I replied to an old post....LOL!
