  1. If your not dealing with the dealership and your journey was built in 2012, you should be able to see the calipers by just looking. The new bigger calipers are huge and way larger than the rear calipers. On the older journeys when you look the rear and front calipers will appear the same size. After the change the front ones are probably twice as big as the rears. I'd take a shot and post it but with my steelies on you can't see mine anymore.
  2. Thanks Srtified your calculations are bang on. I just got back from Canadian Tire. I got the Goodyear Nordic Winters 235/65R17's with the X44753 steelies to replace my 2013 Journey RT 19's. They don't look smaller and they ride nice. I appreciate your help and the help of everyone else who commented. $1100 installed with tax. A little pricey but done in an hour. I'm happy. Let it snow. Tony
  3. I just got back from Canadian Tire and got winter steel rims and snow tires installed on my 2013 Journey RT. Many of you will know about the issues regarding steel rims rubbing on calipers or the issues with finding 19" tires. After reading through tons of post here on the forum and doing some reesearch on my own I can confirm for anyone still looking that this combo of rim and tire works fine. P235/65R17 Tires and X44753 Winter Rims. Canadain Tire Part Number for Rims is 0098942. I went with the Goodyear Nordic Winter. They are on sale this week at Canadian Tire for $150 regularly $200. The rims are a little rich there at $90, but the whole package with tax comes in at $1100. Not too bad. I know you can get thise rims at Costco cheaper. I went there but was put off by the tech who just had nothing positive to say. He went on and on about people have issues with calipers rubbing and how if anything happened your insurance company may not cover you and then told me that I would need to get something from Chrysler saying they approved of the tire rim combo. Anyway I wasn't too impressed. Thanks to the many people who have commented in the many different posts on this issue. Your input was critical. These look great, not too small for the truck and ride smooth. They are on and the snow hasn't arrived yet so I'm happy. Safe Driving, Tony

    Just got my RT

It's a small world. I lived in Windsor for 13 years. I worked at The New WI, now CTV2. Adding all the sound proofing was the best thing Chrysler ever did for the Journey. The noise levels are night and day compared to the 2010 before the redesign. I just got my snow tires about an hour ago and the young guy at the shop was telling the other mechanic how nice it was when he pulled in the bay. Then when he came out he commented "that's a really nice truck". That made my day. The snow tire rims are hard to fit with those huge front calipers. Just in case you need it I went with the P225/65R17 Goodyear Nordics and more importantly the rim #X44753 or Canadian Tire Part # 0098942. Those replaced the 19's on my RT. You'll find numerous posts on here from people having issues with the front calipers rubbing on steel winter rims. Safe driving, Tony

    Just got my RT

I traded my 2010 Journey SXT and got my new 2013 RT a few days ago. Huge difference due to the redesign in 2011 and all the extra options on the RT. Hopefully I will not have any of the ongoing break issues I had with the 10SXT. I had 3 break jobs in the first 20k. All under warranty so I won't bitch too much about that. Anyway Im loving the new RT and hopefully will own this one for years to come. I got the Nav and Sunroof but took a pass on the Flex Seating. The backup camera is really nice. I love the heated seats and the heated stearing wheel. I'm also using the remote start regularly as the temps are dropping here in Canada. As soon as I get some snows on it I'll be happy, and yes I know of the issues with sizing. This is by far the best equipped vehicle I have ever owned. It drives quieter than anything else I tested and has ample power. My brother is a Chrysler employee so nobody could beat the EP pricing. Happy Holidays to everyone, Tony :shades:
  6. My Journey does this too. Only when cold it squeals for a second when started. I have also noticed it "tics" for a while after that until warmed up "Tic tic tic tic tic" Goes away once it's warmed up. Could the squeal be the timing belt? Maybe that's causing the ticking? I am going to book an appointment at the dealer. I've only had mine a month or so. Thought? Suggestions?
